Several years of frequenting mellacca, I've formed a habbit of first seeing the rooms and then taking them. It worked very well in this case. Oriental is well located, making several places walkable. The owner who is seldom around is kind and helpful. There is a nice lady looking after the place. The first room we checked into had a... More

We spent a couple of nights in Oriental Riverside Residence Guest House and we enjoy our stay ! Good price in the centre of Melaka. Our room was big with air conditioning and a big fan. Possibility to add extra mattress. Hotel provides two shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen. Perfect for budget-traveller!

The high rating of this guest house baffles me! I arrived late in the evening but staff were waiting for me (We'd been in touch via phone after I arrived at the bus station.) That was nice as there is not a 24-hr reception. In fact, I'm not sure what time they arrive in the morning if at all. I... More

I have go to Oriental Riverside twice last year. On July and october. It located on the side of Melacca River. The receptionist, also as building operator, Mrs Titik was very nice. The WiFi signal is good enough but just until the 2nd Floor. There is no breakfast, but there is free drink and some biscuit in the kitchen which... More

It is a good hostel because; First, it's cheap. Second, it's clean. Third, it near and easy to walk to travel attraction of Melaka. Facility of this hotel is just so so and private rest room is not available. However, the hostel owner is very nice. even if her english is not good but she try to advice for travel... More

I went there with my friend for one night. It was nice and simple. Nothing weird. It's clean, the bathrooms are working although you have to share with the entire floor, but then again, it's not a problem. It's close to the Jonker Street, so you can walk there from the guest house. The lady in charge is friendly, you... More

location of the guest house was perfect. near enough to explore the main parts of the city and far enough that it doesn't get too crowded when walking home. Food can be found around the corners and the ka-ka at the guest house really knew her stuff. She got me on the local 1 Ringgit-bus back to Melaka Sentral Bus... More

Nice quiet place to sleep in. Walking distance to the main Jonker Street (10-20mins walk) . No nearby parking and one way street. Full of friendly foreigners and locals, great for mingling. Shared bathroom and kitchen.

We were welcomed into the owners house and managed to get the last room on a busy holiday weekend. She was super friendly and smiley which was great, the room downstairs didn't have a window but it was clean and cool. They offer free coffee, tea, bread to make toast and biscuits all day. Along with drinking water. You can... More
