The traditional Rajput architecture, a mixture of Mughal and Indian, a facade with domes and frescoes. The house is a very fine example of Shekhawati frescoes and architecture. The family portraits, which add to the charm of this family hotel where tradition still runs strong. Like many historic houses, Shahpura House is a curious mixture of the old and the new.

Shahpura House, nestled close to the heart of Jaipur, garners praise for its prime location and the nearby rooftop dining options it affords. The hotel's historic allure and royal decor, complemented by live traditional music, provide guests with an authentic heritage experience. While the spacious, charming rooms are appreciated, service and room maintenance have received mixed feedback, with some guests highlighting areas needing enhancement. Additionally, the value proposition is debated, as some travelers find hidden costs and service inconsistencies detract from the otherwise reasonable pricing.

Located in an old maharajah's villa with small swimming pool and evening entertainment with traditional music. Clean, good breakfast buffet. We were not thrilled with the buffet lunch or even the à la carte dinner on the terrace. Overall a good standard paid less than one hundred euros for a double room with breakfast. Worth a try

A beautiful character building: full of charm & original features. After a long journey we were made so welcome ( a little upgrade definitely helped) The room was spacious: clean & every thing we needed ( toiletries/ tea&coffee/ hairdryer etc) . On closer inspection a few bits were a little tired- but this adds to the charm.
The pool area was perfect for a quick dip and plenty of towels and loungers.
Breakfast was a little chaotic with coach parties- but the Indian omelet was delicious
We are in the 5th floor dinning room both nights and had a variety of delicious vegetarian food- the staff were very knowledgeable about the food ( it was very dark though- needed a torch to read the menu)
Finally on check out we were delighted with the bill for 2 meals and drinks in the bar were very affordable and the manager knew our names ( a nice touch) highly recommended for a colonial experience

Really lovely heritage hotel with lots of beautiful furniture and historic artefacts on the walls in a great location for some good restaurants. We had a large beautiful room with a shower room and a separate free standing bath with gorgeous marble and mosaic floors. The bar area is small but cosy next to a larger room with a snooker table in. There is an outdoor pool but this was taped off for the duration of our stay so unable to use. Each night there was entertainment in the garden but we never saw many people actually watching it. Breakfast was ok choice of hot and cold food, but there was only 1 coffee machine which created a constant que which was pretty annoying as the hotel was quite full. They did have soya milk and made me porridge which was great. We’d definitely recommend staying here

We were told it is a 5-Star hotel! Turns out it is a cheap copy of a traditional haveli made with pre-fabricated mass-produced pieces. Forget an SUV, there is no space to park even a bicycle inside. The building is in the middle of a dense residential area and the cars need to fend for themselves on a two-inch-thick sand covered road dotted with dog-poop.
The staff rushes to snatch your bags and is annoyed if one wishes to carry one's own luggage. If you pass by repeatedly they wish you repeatedly and look you in the eye waiting to be tipped.
The whole place reeks of a cheap air-freshener that chokes you. The so-called pictures of royalty are extremely embarrassing. They are like screenshots of a village Ramlila.
The hotel doesn't seem to understand the meaning of hygiene at all. The room that we stayed in was a nightmare. Dirty mop used on the floor; the furniture was wiped with a never-washed cloth and was sticky. The tea-tray was pathetic and its contents frightfuly cheap. The wardrobe iron and table was missing. The sofa and chair were badly stained and the cushion was of very cheap quality.
Do NOT use the toiletries please! They are the cheapest possible liquids. Sub-standard bathroom fittings ruin the shower experience.
Ordered tea and snacks which was delivered an hour later by a staffer who placed the cups in front of us with one finger inside the cup! Frozen cold pakoras and stinking tea in a dirty thermos like those in Indian railways!
Breakfast was the final disaster. Once again a cheap, unhealthy copy of 5-star hotels.
This place should be avoided by those who appreciate honest hospitality i.e. hygiene and genuine courtesy.
One pities the innocent foreign nationals who do not know the real India. They are continuously fed with these gimmicks. I feel sorry for the staff too... They haven't been misguided by the management and do not know any better.

Stayed for 3 nights on an Indian tour. The hotel itself is a fabulous place with an absolutely stunning interior and exquisite decor.

Our room was very large and had an oversized bathroom with a massive walk-in shower. The beds were comfortable with air conditioning and ceiling fans.

The rooftop restaurant was excellent with great service and reasonably priced we ate here on two of our evenings.

Now for the not so good, facilities are dreadful, They have a lovely swimming pool but unfortunately only four loungers!!!!!! There really is not much opportunity to relax at this hotel.

Wifi was appalling I lost count of how many times I had to go to reception to get back into wifi with a bewildering array of passwords given to me. This is very poor service and very annoying and not what I expect from a hotel of this standard.

Breakfast was okay, but choice was poor compared to other hotels we stayed at on tour. It was also the location for lunch and dinner but is a bit soulless compared to the grandeur of everywhere else at the hotel best stick to the rooftop restaurants you get the same menu, or bar area for light meals.

There is a bar there which is nice but is staffed sporadically with the poor barman having to pour the drinks take orders and generally do everything when there seems to be plenty of staff about doing something close to nothing.

The lounge areas are fantastic and are a photographer's dream however some communal areas do look a bit shabby and could do with a lick of paint.

A beautiful hotel that is let down by poor facilities and some service issues which is a pity as I really wanted to give this architectural wonderful hotel a five-star review.

Shahpur house is an authentic recreated opulent Rajasthani palace/Haveli. It’s located in a run of the mill upper middle class residential colony without any outdoor space. Even The pool is tucked in a narrow alley between the hotel building and the street.
In a word it’s not professionally managed property but good enough if all you’re seeking is an experience of living in a recreated Rajasthani haveli.
We reserved a Shahi room ( the top rated residence) through Agoda and reconfirmed the reservation on telephone with Shahpura House a few hours later. On the day of check in we were told the reservation is not confirmed and we should be talking to Agoda. It took Agoda a few hours to sort the issue by absorbing a higher tariff than paid by us and reconfirming our booking with the same reservation number. The hotel checked us in a royal suite( 42m) not the Shahi suite (55m) indicated on our reservation slip. We did not have the stamina to engage the hotel or Agoda any further.
The pool facing first floor room was well furnished except for a musty smell. The sofa had a huge stain on it. The pillows & mattress were not top hotel quality. The air conditioning was not central- there were two aged split air conditioners. One of them broke down late night and it took 45 minutes to be repaired by when it was midnight. The toilet seat was continuously dripping and the toiletries very ordinary but attractively bottled. The washroom doesn’t have vents only a window which can only be sparingly opened for obvious reasons.
The room service was leisurely and the tea came from a stored flask. Exactly the stuff we found at breakfast next morning, both undrinkable. The breakfast itself was functional but the restraunt itself was at par with a dinning hall in a decent guest house.
Check in and check out were smooth but for the hiccups peculiar to our case. The receptionist had no change to accept our cash payment.
A very forgettable experience, fortunately we were only in transit. Full marks to Agoda not quite to Shahpura House. Unlikely to return to any of their properties across the country.

Heritage property but the room was not ready with a third bed as booked. The additional amenities such as extra towel and mug etc were not in the room for the third person.
Buffet dinner had very limited options. Asked for a garlic chilli naan to be told that they don’t add chilli. Then the following evening asked Sanjay a fantastic waiter who got us the garlic chilli naan without any issues.
Tried to order a Heineken which was on the bar menu on the first night and the waiter went to Shanker who was sat in the corner playing on his phone who said they don’t have any.
Breakfast again was very poor options and did not really speak 5 star.
Apart from the decor the food and service was poor

We asked for laundry to be done and on the paperwork it said the laundry would be back by 7 pm. We returned from sightseeing at 4pm to be told it would be with us at 6. We then waited 2 hours after several calls to find out where the laundry was to then receive the laundry which was fine but we were missing one item and had received someone else’s. There was no point telling anyone about this as the service was so poor that no one would even understand or be able to do anything about it.
Wouldn’t recommend and not 5 star service

Given that I don't know the price actually paid for 1 night because it was booked by a local agency in a single package of 14 nights, the review will be partial because the quality/price ratio is important. Very characteristic hotel both in the common areas and in the rooms; we had a suite (very clean) with a very particular terrace; the choice of food is not huge but with the possibility of non-spicy dishes and very friendly and helpful restaurant staff. More than positive opinion.

We checked in to Shahpura on New Years Eve, staying in a royal suite which was clean and with a separate seating area and a verandah overlooking an internal courtyard. As others have noted their towels and pillows could do with replacing. There’s aircon and a TV with local channels. Due to the layout of the hotel and stone floors you do get some noise.
They held a NYE gala dinner which was well organised and entertaining with men being fitted with turbans and ladies with a henna decoration. There was music and dancing and a good range of buffet food. There’s quite an extensive wine list, including French and American however only Indian and Armenian wine is actually in stock.
The main reason for our 3* rating is the service, which is dire. The bar is open from 11am to 11pm but is not manned, so if you want a drink you go to reception who make a call and after 15 minutes a barman will turn up to take your order. We ordered a pizza and a club sandwich in the bar and it took 40 minutes to arrive (there appeared to be a management team meeting in the corner of the bar who ordered food a couple of minutes earlier and theirs arrived in 15 minutes). Prior to this we had sat down in the all day restaurant at 6.30 pm at the same time as a tour group. They were served, nothing happened for us so we left. If you ask for something at reception it’s 50:50 if anything happens.

The public areas which at first are impressive don’t tell the full story. Downstairs the rooms are indeed grand but you soon realise they are not used at all. The bar was ok as was the main restaurant but neither particularly inviting. The bedroom was terrible, allegedly a suite it was stark and didn’t have basics such as proper storage, sufficient towels, enough toilet roll or a hairdryer! We had 2 coat hangers for 2 people for 3 nights! The plug next to the bed was broken so no bedside lamp. We asked for more hangers along with a request for toilet roll but were ignored 3 times! We resorted to collecting toilet tissue from other restaurants. Cleaning was not up to standard - there was a bindi left on the side of the sink. The pool had just 2 sun beds with filthy mattresses on them, pool towels were well worn, stained and had holes in. Food in the main restaurant was adequate and in the rooftop restaurant very good but service was average.
We watched with interest as other guests arrived and were wowed by the public areas and then we saw the disappointment on their faces after they had seen their rooms! This hotel needs a complete overhaul - the management need to realise they are in the service industry and actually offer some proper hospitality in terms of cleanliness, amenities & customer interaction. This hotel is 1-2 star at best, we would not book again & would not recommend.
