The Guest House is perfectly located around the corner from the Gateway. The rooms are clean. The breakfast very basic. The rates are good for Colaba. If you need a place to stay without any frills in Colaba, this place is perfect
The best you can find for 500 rupees a night in Mumbai
Only real catch: bed bugs. And no internet
Great location: close to India Gate, a nice street market and the port from where the ferrys to Elephanta Island leave
Free breakfast (bread, butter,...More
Seems like years of poor management. Location is as central as it can get, right behind Taj Mahal Palace and the gateway of India.

Spent my last night in India here and barely slept a wink. Lumpy pillows, a noisy school group who were rowdy till 1am, mosquitoes...There was no wifi, the fan and some of the lights didn't work. Grotty atmosphere. No soap, towel, sheets or toilet paper...More
The Red Shield guest house is a great place for backpackers, college students, and executives travelling on a tight budget.
The location is simply awesome. It is about 5 min. walk from the Gateway of India and 1 min from the Taj Hotel.
It’s the tourist central of the city with a liberal dose of rich history, iconic eating and drinking joints and artistic connections that have found prominent mentions in Gregory David Roberts’ Shantaram. Stroll down Colaba Causeway for kitschy street shopping bargains. Take a break at the many
laid-back legendary bars & restaurants like Cafe Mondegar or Leopold Café. The vibrant vibe of Colaba is incomplete without the buzz at Mumbai’s most iconic tourist hub, Gateway of India & The Taj Mahal Hotel on the parallel lane. Sprinkled with designer boutiques, quaint cafes with rooftop sea view, the promenade is a popular route to go to Elephanta Caves & Alibaug.
