When we approached a well-known travel agent about our visit to India, they rejected our suggestion that we should stay at The Green Hotel, so we rejected them. Mysore is an attractive but sprawling city and the hotel is somewhat away from the centre, but given the abundance of tuk-tuks this was hardly a problem. It was our first experience...

we really warmed to this delightful oasis on the outskirts of a city well worth visiting. Very gentle and helpful staff, thoroughly clean rooms and a lovely open eating area for meals which were excellent (as well as good value).

We arrived at the Green Hotel after a long tiresome journey at around 7am and much to our delight and relief we where provided with an early check in. The kind reception staff must have recognised our fatigue and didnt even ask us to go through the check in process, just simply provided us with our key and allowed us...

this is a beauty of a place, a little out of the way, requiring transport ( bus, tuktuk, taxi) to get to the center with the Palace, etc, but after the typical hustle and bustle of Indian cities to be a little out of the way was worth it. suppose the place is slightly over priced compratively ( we almost...

The Green Hotel is beautiful - the rooms are neat and the smell of jasmine floats in the air. The grounds are really cool and at night, the garden is a beautiful place to eat. Also, the staff are all treated well and are from the rougher areas on the outskirts of Mysore, so they are well supported by working...

It has a nice lawn/garden and the hotel main building has a bakery where they sell pastries made by students. They have an indoor restaurant/cafe but we dined outside since it was nice and not too unbearably hot. The restaurant outside was fine and so was the breakfast (complimentary). The rooms were large and rather old world with wardrobes, a...

This hotel is full of character. It's worth taking a look around the main building, which is full of charm. The rooms are in a separate block, but are clean and spacious. The scent of jasmine is overwhelming, the restaurant is open air and served by immaculate waiters in green and white uniforms. Staff are very friendly and helpful, even...

We stayed overnight at the Green Hotel, en route to Bangalore. It is not in the centre of the city - and is a little quieter for that. Its principal charm is its style; originally built as a guest palace for a sister of the Maharajah, it was used for some years as a film studio and had now been...

Mysore is perhaps my favourite Indian city, one of the few that hasn't been wrecked by shoddy development. It is also a great base for wildlife and temple visits and it's worth spending at least two nights here. The Green is a little out of town (I had my own car but I think they help with transport) and looks...

with the facade of the colonial palace like architecture the sprawling gardens make the perfect place to spend time with friends, family or yourself. Dont bank too much on the food, but the ambiance is just out of the world. Cane chairs gracing the enclosed open restaurant gives it a summery happy relaxed outlook. Depending on the weather and the...
