Gran Bahia is an institution (having once been the HQ for the United Fruit company) but for such a grand building it is lacking in character. Equally it is very noisy at night (to be fair we were there on 28/29th Dec so every bar was blaring out music...to 4am!) The breakfast is a sad affair...not an egg in sight...

The reception staff was very pleasant, especially the young man who checked us in who was also helpful to us personally, I believe his name was Alguino or Algernon (sorry about inaccurate spelling) but the reception staff are literally sitting behind bars which made you feel like you were walking into a prison. Nice hardwood floors everywhere but the hotel...

The best meat on the island / El mejor carne de Isla Colón. Wonderful service, fast and friendly. I've been living in Panama now for 1,5 years and this was one of the best meats I've had. La parrilla es perfecto, la comida es simple y deliciosa. Nice porch is giving you a relax, don't worry about the rain feeling.

We stayed here recently with a group of friends and really enjoyed our visit. The building is historic- it was the offices of the United Fruit Company built around 1904. It has the ambience of a colonial town house and has a great balcony where you take breakfast and can people watch in the street below. The rooms are very...
