We stayed there recently (a party of 14 people) for one night. Wish we had more time as the property has changed a lot since we last visited it before the Tsunami in 2004. There is now a bridge build over the river to cross to the beach side of the property. There was canoeing facilities on the river and our kids enjoyed it very much. The rooms were spacious and as usual the food was excellent. The beach as changed a lot after the Tsunami and is still not safe for bathing although the drop is not that steep in the beach now. The staff and the owners of the property are very friendly honest people who care for guests all needs and were very obliging to all our varying requests. I highly recommend this holiday home to any one with families and kids as an excellent family retreat.
We enjoyed almost everything here. Ants in the bathroom in the first room we were shown resulted in us being transferred very quickly to a room by the pool with a lovely view of the garden. The staff are just lovely, particularly at the pool bar. My negatives are the APPALLING internet access (not available in the room but not good in the lobby either..... very frustrating.) After other hotels we had stayed in we did not really rate the breakfast choices. They ran out of fresh fruit one morning. How is that possible in Sri Lanka?! We did not realise that we could order an omelette for breakfast until our third day as not advertised. Bread was great though!
I may write an essay to describe how much I like this place, but to make this review useful for other travelers I will describe the main points. Accommodation. We come at 9 a.m. after the long way from Kyiv and were so exhausted. That was so nice from the side of the hotel personnel to accommodate us shortly after coming. We have not been waiting until 2 p.m. and it was indeed helpful. We lived in a bungalow. It is very lovely and clean inside. Bed is comfortable. Cleaning was every day. Nature. The beauty of the area inside the hotel gives a feeling that if paradise exists it looks like it. There are a lot of palms and plants on the territory. Beach and ocean. They are very close, maybe one-minute walk from the bungalow. Both very clean and beautiful. The hotel was full, but the territory of it and the beach so big, that it is enough space for having privacy area. Ocean allows to swim; waves are not so big as in all other areas in Sri Lanka. Restaurant and food. We were having breakfast and dinner in the hotel’s restaurant Big Crocodile with the view of the ocean and tried a lot of positions from the menu, everything is tasty. Personnel. This is the most important advantage of the hotel. The personnel is highly-qualified, very kind and always very helpful. They have done everything to let us enjoy the time in this hotel as the unforgettable. It is indeed a corner of paradise and I highly recommend to come and enjoy time staying there.…
Some aspects of the hotel were good. There was a large, airy entrance area with plenty of seating and service at reception was prompt. The room was perfectly ok, with tea making facility too. The pool was big, but not very clean, and the sun beds around the pool were old and tatty, as well as there being far too few for the numbers of people wanting to use them. The restaurant was pleasant, overlooking the beach, and food was fine. Service was generally ok but it all felt quite impersonal.
Had a great time at the resort . The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean but the towels are kinda well used and time to replace. One of us who traveled was handicapped,No wheelchairs provided but we managed to get one from the Tangalle rest house . From there onwards The manager and the staff was very helpful to carry our friend to the restaurant at the steps. The breakfast buffet is very good and chef Dimuthu had all the ingredients of a promising young man and was at hand chatting with guest and his smile ! contagious .. Nice quiet place! Only too quiet sometimes..
