Arrived in evening, so we didn't see everything - we asked for the pool and the manager said it is ok. went to the pool. next day we saw the pool -was really dirty, you couldn't see the ground or your feet in there. the manager said that he has no chemicals for the pool. because of that we didn't use the pool again and wanted to stay in the room. not possible, because it was to hot. we know about the problems with diesel/fuel and the powet cuts, but they have a generator. we asked for to activate it for using the AC but they said theres no fuel for that. In the evening they had fuel for everything. Room wasn't clean and they didn't cleaned it on the next day. On the second day we talked to the manager but they didn't do anything. It isn't how it look likes on the pics and for us there was no relaxing. For this priceclass this is not okay, also the marketing manager said this. They didn't give us money back, so we paid more than 430 dollars for two nights without pool (or deseases from the using?) and no AC. Manager was really unfriendly. Never again.…
We spent a fantastic three days in this hotel. A holiday in the holidays. The hotel consists of individual villas, built in complete nature. The stylish and spacious villas have huge windows permitting an almost 360 degrees immersion in greenery. A real break away from the rest of the world. We could see nature from our beds: monkeys and magnificent birds. Although we did not see them but elephants are also regular visitors at the property- not surprising given its pristine location. The staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort. The food is excellent. Better order in advance. This combined with the fantastic Sigiriya sights (including climbing the adjacent Pidurangula) made it truly a memorable stay. A clear highlight of our visit to Sri Lanka!!
It’s my second trip to Sri Lanka and I am so glad I found this hidden gem! I have loved my stay at wild grass. The villa was huge, minimalist, refined, tranquil with all the essentials I needed. The balcony perfect for a relaxing beer, reading a book or simply meditating or sitting with the sounds of nature around you. Showering outdoors as tropical rain poured down or stars shone above was great. Wifi was good. I saw monkeys, birds, frogs, turtles even a chicken in the grounds. The perfect place for an escape from life, that you may never know you needed so much and may find yourself considering staying for a life in the tropics once you realise you did. A handy base for exploring rocks, ruins, mountains, rice fields, village life and more without too much travelling time. Recommend to hire a driver/car for your stay as it is a bit remote so this gives you freedom to go as you please. Staff were super kind, attentive, caring and helpful and ensured I had everything I needed during my stay even with our super early 4am exhausted arrival! We did miss traffic and sites along the way and it was a pleasure to wake up from that long travelling day in such a nice place but if a long drive after your flight isn’t your thing consider a night closer to airport first and head up next day if your flight arrives late. The meals we’re delicious and high quality, you must have the curries and the sri lankan breakfast 🤤 Nice pool and everything was clean, tidy, extremely diligent to covid protocols and mainly outdoors so low risk in that respect given the times we find ourselves travelling in. The bonus of that I was privileged to stay at a time when the resort, the island itself was having only minimal tourists so don’t waste time thinking about it book your stay as soon as you can get here and take advantage of that luxury as this magical island can be busy sometimes. A bit sad to be changing places tomorrow after such a lovely stay in the tranquil calming surrounds of wild grass but look forward to a trip back and pleased to be able to recommend it to others and thank all the staff that looked after me during my stay!…
Rooms are spacious. Rooms are situated a little apart which is not ideal for a group of people. Breathtaking views everywhere and can experience beautiful nature in every part of the resort. Pool was clean. They don't offer buffet . Food was tasty and portion sizes were also good. Staff was very friendly and accommodative . Resort is built in the middle of a jungle ,hence have to extra careful when walking at night. Very good hotel for nature lovers.
Our recent stay at Wild Grass was a unique experience that we’d love to repeat. The resort is in a beautiful setting and the lodges are spacious, private and very comfortable, blending perfectly into the surrounding nature. There’s a very attractive restaurant terrace where your eating experiences are enhanced by the sounds of nature and a lovely view. The food is excellent with a good choice of dishes to suit all tastes and the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and courteous. We highly recommend a stay at Wild Grass either as a base for your exploration of the Cultural Triangle or for a few days’ relaxation at one with nature.
A place where you can sit among the tree tops and be one with nature. The chalets are spaced wide apart and thus you are guaranteed absolute privacy. All vehicles can be parked right in front of each chalet which was an advantage for a forgetful individual like myself. The walls were glass windows. Therefore we allways had a view of the trees and the thicket surrounding us. The shower is outside and can be bit of an issue if it rains. The meals were delicious and made up for the somewhat inexperienced waiters. Rice and curry as well as a selection of western meals were available. The rooms had been cleaned as per covid protocols. All in all a place I would love to come back to.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely at the resort. The food was cooked to perfection, with carefully curated menus and mouthwatering dishes. We were particularly impressed by the Sri lankan lunch, which included an incredible variety. The hospitality practised at Wild Grass gives one an immediate sense of home. We were particularly impressed by Mr.Ruwan and his meticulous and polite nature. The manager Mr Tennakoon also impressed us with his courtesy and helpful nature. This was our second visit to the property and this is definitely why we keep coming back for more.
Our room was spacious. Glass covered three sides and the high roof framed views out into the canopies of trees. The entrance area features a muddy water hole just outside with wild life galore. Facilities were good - not the same as you would expect of a city hotel but capturing the adventure of being surrounded by nature. A spectacular rock climb borders the 35 acres complex and was perhaps what captivated us the most!
My family and I enjoyed a peaceful weekend in the middle of a jungle, Warmly welcomed by the Staff and their hospitality was excellent. The property was hygienically well maintained. The Rooms was very spacious and the view of the lake was breathtaking. The place was very calm and quite. Food was absolutely delicious. Overall everything was perfect and would highly recommend.
We had a good feeling about the resort even prior to our arrival. Hakim, was super friendly and very cooperative in terms of giving out all the necessary information. He was also very prompt in answering messages pertaining to the booking and nice enough to recommend the type of accommodation we should go for. The manager, Mr Nimal was kind enough to communicate with us before our arrival. He was very responsible to check with regards to our meals on the given day. His welcome was warm, friendly and he made sure at very instance to make our stay very comfortable. Mr Nimal was also very concerned about our safety on the way back home and made it his responsibility to call and check with us to ensure that we had arrived home without any hassle. He is also very knowledgeable about the organisms that one could see and hear at this wonderful eco resort. Ruwan, provided us with the utmost service at the restaurant. He was super conscientious. He made sure that all the dietary needs were met. Ruwan, was extremely friendly and was kind enough to share his expertise in relation to the locations we should visit during our stay. The resort had an abundance of nature hidden within the premises itself. The sound of birds from the crack of dawn until the end of the day, friendly visit from the monkeys around forest, a wonderful hike to a rock to experience a breathtaking view of the landscape surrounding the premises, a beautiful lake with a myriad of biodiversity. The food was very fresh, great presentation, full of interesting flavors and the portions were just the right amount! We had the opportunity to meet Samitha a wonderful trishaw driver who took us to see one of the attractions close to the resort. He was very responsible and helpful guiding us through. Our stay at the ‘Minivet Villa’ was very secluded. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The villa is the furthest from all the other villas and the restaurant. We were very lucky to have stayed there. …
