We stayed here for two nights. It’s a small hotel only minutes from the lake and other attractions. It’s in quiet a built-up area, which we weren’t expecting, but it was on the hill with the lake in the distance so weren’t disappointed. Plenty of amazing birdlife could be spotted from the balconies in the surrounding trees. We enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace and was embarrassed by the amount of food. We tried to order less the following day, but still ended up with the same amount. We booked a room facing Kandy Lake and where upgraded to the family room, which was lovely. However, we found the room very smoky, especially the bathroom, from the neighbors incinerating rubbish. It effected my sinuses and eyes badly, so if you have a reaction to smoke, I suggest booking a lake facing room, even though it’s smaller. Also, if you are looking forward to a cool drink on the balcony after checking in, please ask your driver to stop at a supermarket just before you arrive to pick some up, because you can’t buy anything from the hotel. We really enjoyed watching the birds from the balcony late in the afternoon. If we are back in Kandy we would defiantly stay at Nottinghill Country House again, but just make sure we are in a room away from the smoke.

This was the best hotel we stayed in during a two week stay in Sri Lanka. The host, Fonseka, was personable, knowledgeable and attentive. The rooms were clean, very comfortable and had everything you needed. The location of the hotel is outside of the bustle and noise of the city centre and felt more like a country estate. Yet, it was still easily accessible for the main tourist attractions. Breakfasts were fresh, healthy and served on a serene patio overlooking the town. We wish we had more time here!

What a pleasant experience! We cannot speak highly enough of our two night stay in this lovely place. So homey and welcoming. First night we stayed in and they cooked us dinner, curry, rice and accompaniments and let us bring our own wine which we shared with the interesting proprietor listening to his knowledge of Sri Lanka. The room was magnificent the first night but the proprietor insisted on up grading us into another room which was bigger and was two rooms,it was called a King deluxe room with lake views. Everywhere there are sitting areas and our breakfast was served out on the balcony. After we had eaten, fruits, toast, roti, pancakes we were offered an omelette which we had to decline. Next day had the omelette with the former before we got too full. Can highly recommend this place if staying in Kandy.

I cannot say enough about this gem. The owner welcomed me at my car by name. Arranged me a tuctuc immediately, suggested a restaurant, looked after me the complete visit. The views of the jungle and temple are lovely. The breakfast is full of fresh and healthy local fruits, and cuisine. The hotel is quiet. The rooms are large and clean. I wish I had planned a longer stay here. It really is a sophisticated stay

This is a charming hotel with character , away from busy Kandy. It has great views and Fonseka and Remy provide great service . The rooms are well equipped with air conditioning, tea making facilities , modern bathrooms etc and very clean . It’s a small boutique hotel with colonial charm .At breakfast there was plenty of choice and a great opportunity to enjoy the views . We were upgraded to the suite for our second day , which was very appreciated . Tuk tuk from the town cost approx 400 rupees .It was a great stay, highly recommended

I cannot fault our stay here. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The location was great overlooking Kandy city. Bedroom was large and spotless with everything you needed. The manager even got us train tickets to Ella when the station were saying they are unavailable, he went that extra mile and saved us money as well. Also breakfast was amazing. I highly recommend Notting Hill for a place to stay. Tony C.

The staff were immediately very warm and welcoming from our arrival to the house and they constantly aim to please. They carried our bags from the car, to the room and back again on our departure and gave useful advice on where to go in Kandy. They upgraded our room which was very clean and large. The house is beautiful - an old large colonial property that is placed in an amazing situation for both a lake and mountain view - depending on your room. Breakfast was incredible - so much choice and very very good! Highly recommend staying here, there is also a selection of local restaurants down the hill which are only a 10 minute walk away.

This hotel is delightful. Mr Fonseka is so thoughtful and helpful. The hotel has lovely views and comfortable places to sit. The rooms are large, spotlessly clean and there is everything you need, including a socket with world wide adapter, a kettle and tv.the bed is comfortable. This is a small boutique hotel so guests get individual attention. As I was travelling on my own Mr Fonseca’s help calling taxis and recommending a really good Ayurvedic massage place meant I could relax. I liked this hotel so much I extended my stay.
