We only had one night here but it was fabulous. Beautiful location on a hilltop above the valley. Great views and a beautiful pool. Gorgeous, well equipped room. The staff and dining room puts the place over the top. Truly warm, helpful and professional. A respite from the busy city. not really walking distance to anyplace in town but taxi's are plentiful. A little sad that they declined our request for a room upgrade even though we were the only residents of the hotel during our stay. At just 1 night, our visit was all to short but we would return if we were in the area. Highly recommend! Our st
We spent 2 nights at the Stone House in Kandy. What a beautiful property built in the 1940s. The relaxing areas are beautiful as well as the poolside and gardens. The staff were lovely and made us feel very comfortable. Service was excellent by all members of staff. We asked for the Sri Lankan curry on the second night and we were not disappointed. We loved the traditional Sri Lankan desert "watalappan" which tasted like Creme Caramel, delicious! We asked for a packed lunch for our train journey up to Ella and this was prepared and waiting for us the morning we left. Once again thank you to you for your kindness.
We arrived to Sri Lanka on the day of the bombings. The Stone House felt like a safe, quiet retreat, set above busy Kandy but near enough to enjoy the sites. The staff were very welcoming, particularly Jayakody who was informative and looked after us well. Nothing was a problem. The room was well appointed and very near the pool which was well maintained.
We visited the Stone House for a cooking demonstration on our tour of Sri Lanka. The hotel is stunning and set just outside the hustle and bustle of Kandy. We were able to watch the chefs prepare 7 dishes in the kitchen whilst preparing dinner. We filmed it all so we could remember the recipes. The chefs were great and very welcoming, as was the hotel manager. We had a fantastic time! They made it look so easy. We then sat down to eat what they had cooked. It was the perfect evening in a lovely hotel. We would highly recommend the cooking demonstration to anyone who is interested in learning how to cook the delicious Sri Lankan curries. A truly fun evening!
