This is definitely a guesthouse rather than hotel, and with those expectations you'll be pleased. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds are comfy. The highlight of the Sharon Inn is the dinner - a table full of home-made Sri-Lankan cooking, with many different vegetables to try, is just delicious!

Overpriced and grumpy host, 69 stairs up to our room. No water pressure in the shower. Fabulous food and views however the grumpy host friez (?) standing with folded arms grumblingly instructing us about our 11:00 pm curfew and then waiting at the door (not happy) when we came back pushed us to check out early. We had booked for...

After reserving a room on the Internet then ringing to confirm from Colombo, we were told that our booking had been cancelled when we arrived. The owner, Sue, insisted that I had not rung and both she and the man there claimed that no phone call came through. I later redialled the number on my phone and it was answered...

Located at the top of a very steep hill means there are good views but it also means you are not going to be walking up the hill too many times so you will need a rickshaw. We did not take breakfast but it was there early - fruit, eggs and toast. We had room number 8 right at the...

Good standard to be expected at this price. It was recommended to us by friends and so there were no nasty surprises. Food very good and you can meet interesting fellow travellers. Location a little testing at first but an inexpensive tuk-tuk ride gets you up the hill if you are not so fit. You need to spend a few...

We stayed here for two nights and very much enjoyed our time at Sharon Inn. Our room was spacious and very clean with a nice balcomy. The bathroom was big with a great shower and plenty of hot water. The room was quiet and had a fan and mosquito net so we slept very well. The location is very good...

We changed to this hotel on the second day staying in Kandy, for the reputation of top choice in the Lonely Planet. The place is nice - quiet on the hill while close the central lake and shopping area. The room is super clean! Probably the cleanest B&B/inn I've ever been. The Sri Lanka traditional buffet at night is very...

The place is very clean but dull.  The big setback are the owners.  Sharon is always impatient. The place has a very strict set of rules- no soft drinks from outside, a top secret Wi Fi access code- (Sharon is pinching it in your device, so you will not sell it to spys and at night there was hardly any...

The hotel owner's husband was unfriendly. When we arrived, there was no one to welcome us. The guy even told us that our driver, who was a local, was not allowed into the guesthouse. That was extremely unprofessional. Secondly, when he was speaking to us, he didn't make eye contact and was busy on his handphone talking to someone else....

We didnt stay at Sharons but had Rice and Curry buffet there. It was very tasty and varied (10 different curries). At 1100 rupees pr. Person its not the cheapest meal in Sri Lanka, but in my opinion it was well worth the money. Remember to book by lunch
