This is the best address for your budget stay; it's budget luxury. We stayed when we first landed in Kandy and then again after our silent retreat in the mountains. We were so lucky to get the suite - and it's a real gem, super comfortable and sparkly clean, with a balcony. We also liked the location as we visited the tooth relic temple twice and it was a nice walk. The hotel management is super lovely. THANK YOU
Stayed here for 3 nights and found staff very friendly and helpful. The room was very big and spacious, had big comfy bed and the bathroom was very clean. The shower worked well and had hot water. Location was good, down quiet street over looking playing field. Close to temple of the tooth and Kandyan Cultural center. Recommend going to garden cafe for something to eat. Also check out Selyn, a fair trade shop selling great range of textile and gifts.
This hotel is tucked away in a road not too far from the lake, but in the opposite end to the town centre. Initial impressions weren't great, as there was only a caretaker when we arrived. We had enquired about driver accommodation, and was told all was in order, but on arrival were told, there was no driver accommodation. The rooms are basic but clean (although the bed was very hard), with a modern, clean, tiled bathroom. Breakfast was served in the balcony/verandah and was excellent with a selection of fresh fruit, smoothie, eggs, sausage plus extras. The staff are very obliging. For the price, this place is excellent value.
We absoluted loved our stay at Old Town Hotel. The room was clean, spacious and homey. The owner and staff were very obliging and friendly. They can organise day trips for you at the hotel which is a great for the last minute adventure. The breakfast was fantastic. Some people have commented on that there is no television for us that was great why would you want a television when there is so much to explore in Kandy. A little hint for dinner is the Green Cafe just down the road the food is fantastic. Loved watching the locals walking to work in the morning and the kids playing cricket in the late afternoon in the field opposite the hotel it gave you to an insight what it is like to live in Kandy. We loved it, it was a great way to start our holiday.
No telly in the rooms as advertised,,cold shower and communication was a nightmare as no one could speak nor understand English. It shocks me to see that it had an 8.5 rating from booking.com! I wish they could just market the hotel as it is,instead of giving false information to make the guests have high expectations.
