Had the good fortune to book this lovely small hotel without seeing it first. What a lovely little place. If you're looking for the busy nightlife that is Hikka it's only a short walk (maybe a torch a good idea) or a cheap tuk tuk to get there, but here is an oasis of calm and serenity. Beautiful rooms, lovely pool - a bit chilly but nice after the searing heat, and staff that are very helpful and efficient without being intrusive. Our junior suite was a steal and best room in our long Sri Lankan break. Will definitely be making a return visit.

Wow! What an amazing, relaxing, chilled out time we spent at Villa Tara. We had the upper suite with wrap around balcony so we had plenty of space. The pool is fantastic and probably larger then the photos would have you believe.... .....but what made our stay so special were the fantastic staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they went out of their way to make us feel at home. I don't think we have ever received such gracious service in all our travels. Thank you Villa Tara!!!

This is a gem of a place to stay. Set away from the main road of Hikkaduwa and yet, just a five minute walk to all restaurants, bars and beaches, it’s the perfect location. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable. Every member of staff is friendly, helpful and all go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Breakfasts were delicious ( best scrambled eggs I’ve ever eaten!) and fruit from the trees, so doesn’t come much fresher than that. Sisira, Jameera and Susil ( apologies if spelling is incorrect) thank you for not only making us so welcome but for all the useful tips as well ( restaurants, beaches etc). Villa Tara =The nicest place with the nicest people.

We recently stayed here for a week. We had the upper double. The room was quite dark but once the doors were opened, light flooded in. The downside to this room (and for me, it was a big downside!) was that you had to go up very steep narrow steps to bed which I was frightened one of us would end up falling down. We didn’t, thankfully. We had use of a veranda which looked over the pool. The room next to us was the junior suite which I so wish we were in. The room was bigger and all on one level with a bigger veranda. If we were to stay here again that is the room I would choose. There was a lower double room but this opened up onto the patio and pool with no private sitting area and I couldn’t see where the bathroom was for this room so maybe it’s in the reception area - I wouldn’t like this if that is the case. The other room is the family room which I would also stay in, even though there was only the two of us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are towels for the pool and different towels for the beach. We were leant an umbrella when required and take places in a tuktuk which is based here. Our transport to the airport was also arranged from here. We did have a trip into Galle (worth the journey) with the same driver too. There is a shortl walk to the beach and restaurants which is very manageable. I would recommend you bring a torch here as we had several power cuts, one quite a long one and if you use the app on your phone, you can’t then recharge it! The breakfast was good and plentiful and the pool was very clean. I would happily stay here again. Very happy stay here.

We stayed in Villa Tara for a week with family of four. Villa Tara was truly beautiful, peaceful place to stay. Room was clean and comfortable and had opening to the pool. Kids loved the pool! And I loved the garden! Staff was always smiling and helpful. Breakfast was made and served to our terrace as requested. Villa Tara is quite small villa (not many rooms) which made the service personal and caring. We also met the owner there and he made sure that we are enjoying our stay. Vill Tara is close to beach (5min walk) and restaurants. We mostly walked, but staff also ordered Tuk-Tuk for us a few times, and made sure the driver knew where we are going. Villa Tara felt very safe also as there are walls around it and gate is closed at nights (staff will open the gate when ringing the bell). All in all, we felt very relaxed after our stay in Villa Tara. We'll certainly stay there again if we visit Hikkaduwa. I wish I could give 5+ stars. Definately worth the $ and even more!
