I visited Ulpotha alone over Christmas for just one week and genuinely feel blessed to have had the opportunity to do so. It almost feels as if the village is built on hallowed ground. Everything about it was special, spiritual and spine tingling. I felt completely at home immediately. Emotions were high. I was filled with gratitude, filled with love...

It is a unique and special place, not any yoga retreat you can imagine, but the best option to disconnect and relax with delicious Sri Lanka vegan food and good yoga. It is in the middle of jungle, rooms are huts, no privacy but confortable and clean ( you live with ants, squirrels, birds, and monkeys all around) , shared...

I can only join the choir of praise: Ulpotha is a unique and wonderful place. My four weeks there went fast in a constant flow of lovely experiences and nourishment for the mind, body and soul. I miss it all, but can only mention some fractions: Waking up in my open, naturally air conditioned hut to the birds’ songs accompanying...

An amazing place in the middle of Sri Lanka's nature. Great yoga experience, wonderful meditation, and a nice Ayurvedic spot. Ulpotha is also a perfect place to distance yourself from busy and noisy life. It offers an opportunity to meet wonderful people from all over the world, or just stay with yourself. The premises, food, all create an authentic and...

When I booked our stay at Ulpotha, I did not research too much, but I thought a yoga retreat for our family, including our two kids 18 and 20, would be a perfect part of our vacation in Sri Lanka. Especially because at Ulpotha there is no electricity, so no internet to distract us. I could finally be excused and...

No reviews will ever encapsulate the magic that is Ulpotha. The way it was born so organically, makes the ethos of this place so authentic and real. For this reason, it also attracts very special / like minded people. Wade, the yoga teacher was an absolute dream, with a truly original way of instructing Vinyasa Flow. So supportive, adaptable to...

The people are very hospitable and gentle, the food is delicious and the week I was there the yoga was enjoyable . Unfortunately, too many mosquitoes, and one has to be aware of creepy crawlies ,it has no electricity,so after 6pm, take a good torch,or a friend to play games with. I felt a week was enough for me.

Dear Lara, Thank you having visited Ulpotha and for reviewing your stay. I'm sorry about the creepy crawlies but Ulpotha is very much a place that is all about being wrapped in the arms of nature. Mosquitoes are more of a nuisance but not one that is a constant, as most times of the year are free of them. Having...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
'The best yoga retreat in the world', according to the Observer, Ulpotha is a beautiful private eco-hideaway open to guests for part of the year; a place of total peace, where you can experience the warm, generous and gentle hospitality Sri Lankans love to offer.
