This place has an excellent location on the banks of a stream and large open areas. Unfortunately not well managed - though the staff were indeed very cooperative, The wardrobes are open ones, there is no kettle for tea and even face towels were not provided in the rooms. Even ice cubes could not be provided. They do not stock...

We stayed just for a night..checked in around2 p.m.,checked out 09;30 next morning. It is just like a beautiful forest resort, nothingelse nearby ,except a small stream. The room was neat and clean with all basic facilities-the only item missed by us was a kettle and coffee sachets..A balcony was attached to the room, offering a beautiful view of the...

Although not conveniently located from the town centre, this property sits by a river and plenty of trees, giving it that remote and calm ambience. We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during our trip. Please note this is not a hotel or resort, but more like a guesthouse! The bedroom is spacious, although very poorly decorated. Basics such...

Average Hotel-Reception people good-No phone in the room-You have to go to the reception to order anything and everything-Lonely Hotel-Away from city-No wifi in the room- Cleanliness average- Breakfast average-Tea was good-Except the manager no other people knows English. If you like loneliness and calmness,it is best choice. But it is not 3Star hotel.-NO ELEVATOR.

Eventhough rooms are far from Dambulla town, it is located in very nice place just next to small river stream.. The hotel rooms are very spaceous. Each room has balcony facing the river stream.. There is small hut on top of tree where you can spend some good time.. The service was very good. Being vegetarian, getting good veg food...

In November 2016 I was staying for a couple of nights in Grand Kalundawa Waterfront Resort with a group of 10 pax. We like this hotel very much. It is a nice, recently expanded hotel with nice, clean swimming pool located on the river bank, with clean river water. The hotel is located just a few minutes from the main...

This hotel saved our holiday in Dambulla. The place was simply perfect. Very nice people, correct price, we absolutely paid for what we consumed or even for less than that. THe dinner was more than excellent. Very big plates and absolutely sri lankan. I would go back anytime without thinking for a moment!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just 5 minutes off the bustling and vibrant ancient city of Dambulla is the tranquil river fronted oasis of Grand Kalundawa Waterfront Resort with its majestic century old kumbuk trees and relaxing lush greenery. The charming getaway is a modern semi-boutique style hotel in a colonial themed building with an outdoor swimming pool overlooking a natural river. Rooms feature typical Sri Lankan-style furnishings, attached bathrooms, satellite TV, fans and air conditioning. With dusk fall, sit down for romantic candlelit dinner with wine and a western or traditional meal, custom planned or by our chef, at our tree house and let those bonds rekindle. You can also try the medieval BBQ diner by river. We serve western, Chinese and Sri Lankan dishes at the restaurant, Alternatively, you may also opt for room service or packed lunches. Our staff will happily provide individualised services and Day trips, Village excursions, elephant safaris or canoeing. We are centrally located to Dambulla Cave Temple (2 min drive), Ibbankatuwa anciant cemetery (8 min), Sigiriya lion rock(25 min) and Minneriya safari national park (30 min). Bandaranayake International Airport (Colombo) is 2.5 hour away. We can arrange Airport pickup. ... more   less
