For our trip to Ometepe, my friend and I stayed at another place nearby, but because we met some people staying at Omaja, we enjoyed one day here. I should preface this by saying that our other stay was at a MUCH more rustic location. We like rustic, but not everyone does. The trip to this remote end of the...

You do have a good point, there are in fact several other eating options around if you are willing to walk 15 minutes or so. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and taking the time to write a review.

This is a difficult review to write because there were a few elements of La Omaja that were great; the views from the restaurant were stunning, the pool refreshing and the horse riding to San Ramon arranged for us by Jamie was the highlight of our stay on Ometepe but my god, the room and food were awful. When we...

Thank you Georgie for taking the time to write a review. We at La Omaja pride ourselves on service and we both might have benefitted if you had indicated to me during one of our conversations that your room was not satisfactory, we could have made some effort to better accommodate you. I note that the other hotels you stayed...

La Omaja (the owner Jamie comes from Omaha -get it?) is a real hidden paradise on the beautiful island of Ometempe. The pool has the best view ever, a live smoking volcano. Although relaxing by it with turkey vultures circling overhead can be a little unnerving. The cabins are cooled by, if a little noisy, aircon and fans but are...

Thank you for your nice review. You make a very important point regarding transportation. We are glad to help you arrange transportation, it really is no problem, and we can guarantee you a safe and reliable taxi at competitive rates. The people waiting in san jorge to "help" you with transportation, tours, or hotels are just going to take your...

La Omaja: first off, La Omaja is not for the faint of heart - but then if you were faint of heart you wouldn't have made it to Ometepe in the first place. The Perfect: the view could not be better. It is astounding, jaw-dropping every direction, every time. The Great: Jamie's staff are wonderful, helpful, friendly, quick with a...

Jamie is amazing. Honestly, without his kindness I don't think our trip would have been the same. La Omaja is beautiful. The pool and the view of the lake and volcano is to die for. I love how the rooms are separate units and each have their own little porch. Everyone that worked here was wonderful and sweet and the...
