This was such a wonderful place to stay on Ometepe! Jamie and his wife are such lovely people! The rooms were very clean, the food was great, Jamie was so helpful with booking tours and telling us where to go! Jamie took us to a local rodeo and to the pools. Their kids were great, we found a huge frog...

My absolute favorite place on Omete is La Omaja! The staff is so sweet and Jamie has always been there for our school groups that have visited in the past. We thank you for everything! if you are looking for a quiet homey place to stay, La Omaja is the place to go!

Great place to stay in. Great view of the lake and the sunsets. Rooms (cabins), scattered through the property, are large and clean with varanda's over the lake with chairs and hamac. Nice showers. Since you are in an island in a remote place, do expect animals to be around. Bumpy road to get there. Remote location. Very peaceful and...

Its pretty far from the main hub on Ometepe, which is mostly good. The roads are not great to get here, but its very quiet and the views of Conception and the lake are great. Our kids had a blast playing in the pool. The restaurant is pretty good. Power went out one night, which is apparently pretty common being...

It takes an hour to get to La Omaja (after your arrival on the Island- Take the Biggest boat ''El Rey de Cocibolca''). And the road is very bumpy but nothing horrible : Just be aware of it. It's part of the whole experience, I guess ;-) You have to go the extra mile to get to La Omaja but...

We chose La Omaja primarily for the location - you have to drive a fair amount to get there from the ferry, including a stretch down some bumpy dirt road, but it's located perfectly for the combination of volcano hike / waterfall hike / river kayaking. The owner Jamie was very helpful in organizing rides for us to the ferry...

For our trip to Ometepe, my friend and I stayed at another place nearby, but because we met some people staying at Omaja, we enjoyed one day here. I should preface this by saying that our other stay was at a MUCH more rustic location. We like rustic, but not everyone does. The trip to this remote end of the...

You do have a good point, there are in fact several other eating options around if you are willing to walk 15 minutes or so. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and taking the time to write a review.

This is a difficult review to write because there were a few elements of La Omaja that were great; the views from the restaurant were stunning, the pool refreshing and the horse riding to San Ramon arranged for us by Jamie was the highlight of our stay on Ometepe but my god, the room and food were awful. When we...

Thank you Georgie for taking the time to write a review. We at La Omaja pride ourselves on service and we both might have benefitted if you had indicated to me during one of our conversations that your room was not satisfactory, we could have made some effort to better accommodate you. I note that the other hotels you stayed...

La Omaja (the owner Jamie comes from Omaha -get it?) is a real hidden paradise on the beautiful island of Ometempe. The pool has the best view ever, a live smoking volcano. Although relaxing by it with turkey vultures circling overhead can be a little unnerving. The cabins are cooled by, if a little noisy, aircon and fans but are...
