I thought this was the best trip of a lifetime! Everyone was so nice and helpful. First we drove from Fez to Merzouga, which is a pretty long drive… About seven hours to be exact. From there, we were transferred to another driver that took us to where the camels would take us into the desert. I’ve never seen anything like this before and to see the sunset on the Sahara was beautiful. Once arriving to the camp, everyone made sure that we got to our rooms and got comfortable. The tents were really nice and would fit thought of a four or five star hotel. The bed was comfortable, there was running water, the lights turned on and there is a port in which to charge your phone or any other electronics you may have! Dinner and breakfast is included. I thought this was well worth the money and I would say to definitely put this on your bucket list!

Amazing time, great views amazing sunset and sunrise. Bring your appetite … fabulous dinner rivaling any hotel. Camel ride through the desert and 4 wheeling. The staff hung out in the evening offering local music by the fire … Wonderful private tents with bathrooms and showers. Really clean and very welcoming.

This is one of those experiences that you will carry with you for a lifetime. The camel ride across the dunes to the camp, the beat of the tribal drums from the young and talented musicians playing around the camp fire as the desert cooled into the night, the amazing good wifi and hot water in your own glamping tent - it was all fantastic. Breakfast and dinner were surprisingly delicious too. There was a good assortment at breakfast and the communal meal tent was very cozy at night with warming torches. The cheese and eggplant appetizers they served after the soup was sublime, and mains were all good too, Possibly my favorite meal in Morocco.

I just want to be very open and clear that I am aware this is NOT a luxury resort/camp. I have travelled more than 35 countries in this world, from the outskirts of Philippines/vietnam/Burma to the luxurious 4 seasons hotels of the world .
unfortunately, our experience has been only OK.
1) be prepared that dinner will only be served at 9pm , not any earlier even if you are exhausted from traveling >8 hours on the road. music only starts at 10pm where everyone is already beyond exhausted

2) be prepared that the air con and carpets will have a heavy mould dew smell. good luck if you’re allocated camp 14. there was nothing i could do to overcome that awful smell (and i have health allergies, so i basically could not even sleep from breathing problems). most staff barely speak english

3) be prepared that there are camp dogs that constantly barking from 12mn- sunrise . bring your white noise machine! or don’t even expect any sleep. i love dogs and i have rescue dogs, so it was heartbreaking to hear their breaking barks and being in the painful, parching heat

4) communication could be bad . no one can operate the aircon except the hassan brothers , and they only turn it on from 11pm-6am, which explains the awful mould smells in the tent

5) yes toilets are almost like porter pottys, but that is fine because it’s a camp ! bring your own toiletries
i’m just very concerned about the mould stench because it’s a health risk and it was not communicated to us. both my husband and I travelled from afar and only managed to sleep an hour between 12-7am (we skipped sunrise watching at 6am, which is not compulsory & because we are so exhausted )
6) we appreciated that the hassan brothers went above and got us a cake for a birthday celebration. we had fun for songs and dance, but our health is more important than anything else . please bear in mind that we are in the midst of a desert and there’s no health clinics nearby, i could have a severe asthma attack if i didn’t have my medicine with me .
all in all, please find somewhere else if you have serious health conditions. there are at least 5 other camps near us (so near that i can hear their beating drums @ 12mn)

Dear Customer, Thank you for take the time to send us your opinion. We would like to answer your points of view. First of all, in the desert, the luxury category is to differentiate the types of camps. The standard have the bathrooms outside the room and the luxury have the tents with the bathroom inside. Of course if you have traveled you know that the concept of luxury in each country is different as well as the service in the hotels. About the dinner time, it is the time that we consider with respect to the group. In our camp we have people from all over the world and as you well know the schedules are different in each country. For you, dinner at 9 may be late, but for another guest it may be early. Likewise, not all the clients of our camp arrive exhausted as you indicate because not all of them make the journey that you did. About the smell you mention, it's weird because the tents are airy and busy (luckily for us) almost every day and it's weird that no one else has complained about this. Did you request a room change? because possibly it could have been solved at the moment. In the camp we have a guard dog but at night he sleeps with our staff. I think you forget that you are in the middle of the desert and that we cannot control if other dogs from other camps bark or other animals make noise. About what you say about no one being able to operate the air conditioner, I think it's none of your business how we run our camp. We repeat that you are in the middle of the desert and the power of light is not the same as in a big city to have the air working all day. About your opinion, we believe that you did not know where you were going, because the complaints you make, with the exception of the questionable smell that you indicate, have no reason. Your opinion has also caught our attention since at no time did you notify us of any incident and what you really wanted was a refund for your stay. In short, we appreciate your opinion but we believe that you did not know what it is to visit the desert. Best regards,

Staying at Golden Camp was the highlight of our trip to Morocco. When we arrived we were greeted with organized and helpful hosts that took us on a beautiful camel ride through the desert to the little oasis in the dunes. The camp itself exceeded our expectations with wonderful food, entertainment, and authentic decor. Since we wanted our trip to be perfect, we made several special requests. It didn’t matter the request, the hosts exceeded our expectations each time to make sure the experience was perfect. You won’t find more gracious hosts or a more authentic camp in Merzouga.

We had a magical two night stay at the camp. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with comfortable areas to sit and relax and all the conveniences you hope for like great weather pressure and heating and air conditioning for those large fluctuations on desert conditions. The staff are the highlight as they went out of thrower way to make our stay comfortable and to give us a Berber style experience through the tours, and their engagement with us. Highly recommended… stay two night of you can to see everything.

Loved it a lot. Maybe my expectations were not too high, but it had everything you need, including decent wifi and even ice cubes, it was really comfortable and safe, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Really, nothing to complain about.

Всё очень понравилось. Отличный лагерь в Сахаре, есть всё, что нужно, включая wifi и даже лёд, удобно, безопасно, очень дружелюбные и компанейские ребята работают. Не на что пожаловаться вообще.

My fiancé and I had a beautiful stay at this camp. The tents are spacious and luxurious (with aircon, which is a bonus!) We had a delicious meal followed by some drumming and other music shows later in the evening. Would highly recommend - 5 star from us!

Sleep in the desert is a must. And it was even more incredible than what we had anticipated. The dromedary at sunset is such a wonderful experience! Sunset to be seen in the quiet desert is wonderful. The arrival at the tends were smooth, the service was efficient and very kind. Tends surprised us, they are comfortable, with a got shower and energy. The diner was really delicious, and was not the common place as Tagine or Couscous, they really surprised us with creativity- keeping Moroccan seasoning. Breakfast was good and again, the service were attentive and always with a smile. Good for couples, friends or family. Really good experience and I want to came back again soon!

The campsite was beautifull. Very friendly staff. Make sure you stay at least 2 nights. Camels, book offered half day trip, sandboard and our favourite the Quad’s experience. Food was very nice and many bottles of water requested were given. Lovely experience!

They are associated with a restaurant in town, Cafe Restaurant Merzouga. I saw other camp guests in cars parked there, so you will probably be able to leave it there over night.
