just returned from a great relaxing stay at Dar Scotlandee, great hosts who make you feel welcome and relaxed with fantastic local knowledge to advise you on your stay and where to go in town, I looking forward to visiting next year as the views from the roof terrece are outstanding and they even arranged food to be delivered from a restauant in town so i could dine on the terrece while watching the sun setting behing the rif mountains. thank you Terry & Suzanne
I’ve been to different 4-5 stars hotels and to bug suits and to be honest they’re nice.. but this guesthouse -Dar Scotlandee- is the best place you can chill, have fun, and meet some really amazing people. You don’t only get a room to rest, you also make some of the best friends that you can have along with two adorable dogs. The view is AMAZING, the hygiene is SUPERB, The food.. I would kill to eat that everyday, and the hospitality is priceless. Also it’s so affordable.. Bottom line.. it is THE BEST guesthouse EVER !!!
Nice place despite a long uphill walk from town but what ruined it for me was the host Terry who made unwanted advances during our stay. When I went upstairs to the kitchen (usually off-limits to guests outside breakfast time) to fill up my water bottle, Terry told me that he was a carpenter in Scotland so he was "good with his hands" and he tried to "help" me fill up my water bottle by putting his hands on my arms. I told him I didn't need help and he said I should get used to this because I was in Morocco. When my partner confronted Terry and Suzanne about this later that day he was defensive and called me a liar. In any other country I would have reported this behavior but it was impractical with the language barrier and our tight itinerary. This was an unfortunate start to my trip - female travellers have a right to feel safe no matter where they are.…
I've just returned from a week's stay at Rif-for-Anyone. It's a very nice place, with the star of the show being the terrace, from which you can watch the sun sinking below the Rif mountains. It's a family run place and the hospitality and warm welcome is outstanding. Would I go back? Yes, next year. I can't wait. Jack Stoner, Edinburgh
Dar Scotlandee is a family-run guesthouse that offers a true at home feeling. Terry, Suzanne and their son Liam, together with the dogs Archie and Angus, are a wonderful family and they are all very friendly and welcoming. It was great to chat with them and get to know how is life in Chaouen. Loved their story and how they fell in love with this town! The Dar is in a uphill quartier next to the mountains and the views are stunning. You can easily get there with a short petit taxi ride. One of the most relaxed/relaxing places I have ever been! Room was basic but it had everything we needed and the value for money is great. We totally recommend this place and we will surely stay here again when we will come back to Chaouen! If you have the chance, we also suggest to take a day trip to Akchour and do some hike. Thank you for everything and hope to see you soon! Giulia & Angelo …
