#21 of 91 B&Bs / Inns in Chefchaouen
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! We don't allow children under 12 years. We are situated just a few minutes walk from the camping, and a 15 minute walk from Chaouen Medina. The national park of Talessamtane is only 200m behind our guesthouse. The Dar Scotlandee guest house in Chefchaouen is a surefire winner with travellers who would like to be somewhere a bit different!! This great value Guesthouse makes a wonderful change from a hotel in the Medina, and offers all the same attention to detail along with warm and personal hospitality. We are just a 15 minute walk or 2 minute taxi ride to the ancient Medina of Chefchaouen and ideal for discovering the hidden villages of the majestic Rif Mountains. The guesthouse is a superb base for exploring the area, and linking up with fellow travellers on our shaded terrace. We also arrange day trips to local beauty spots, and guided tours to local villages to see traditional farming techniques. Local honey and olive oil are specialities of the region. A real chance to experience Berber hospitality. Free high speed wi-fi, so bring your devices. Book early to avoid disappointment, it does get busy in summer. We hope to see you soon... Please note- as with all of Morocco, there is a lot of new building work going on all around Chefchaouen. Recently, it has reached our neighbourhood, meaning the gentle sound of moroccans building houses. Although quite interesting to watch the basic building methods, and the lack of any machinery being used, the sound of bricks being cemented together may bother some people. Please consider this when booking as we don't want you to be unhappy in any way while you are here.

I’ve been to different 4-5 stars hotels and to bug suits and to be honest they’re nice.. but this guesthouse -Dar Scotlandee- is the best place you can chill, have fun, and meet some really amazing people. You don’t only get a room to rest, you also make some of the best friends that you can have along with two adorable dogs. The view is AMAZING, the hygiene is SUPERB, The food.. I would kill to eat that everyday, and the hospitality is priceless. Also it’s so affordable.. Bottom line.. it is THE BEST guesthouse EVER !!!

Serious safety incident
Nice place despite a long uphill walk from town but what ruined it for me was the host Terry who made unwanted advances during our stay. When I went upstairs to the kitchen (usually off-limits to guests outside breakfast time) to fill up my water bottle, Terry told me that he was a carpenter in Scotland so he was "good with his hands" and he tried to "help" me fill up my water bottle by putting his hands on my arms. I told him I didn't need help and he said I should get used to this because I was in Morocco. When my partner confronted Terry and Suzanne about this later that day he was defensive and called me a liar. In any other country I would have reported this behavior but it was impractical with the language barrier and our tight itinerary. This was an unfortunate start to my trip - female travellers have a right to feel safe no matter where they are.

I've just returned from a week's stay at Rif-for-Anyone. It's a very nice place, with the star of the show being the terrace, from which you can watch the sun sinking below the Rif mountains. It's a family run place and the hospitality and warm welcome is outstanding. Would I go back? Yes, next year. I can't wait. Jack Stoner, Edinburgh

Dar Scotlandee is a family-run guesthouse that offers a true at home feeling. Terry, Suzanne and their son Liam, together with the dogs Archie and Angus, are a wonderful family and they are all very friendly and welcoming. It was great to chat with them and get to know how is life in Chaouen. Loved their story and how they fell in love with this town! The Dar is in a uphill quartier next to the mountains and the views are stunning. You can easily get there with a short petit taxi ride. One of the most relaxed/relaxing places I have ever been! Room was basic but it had everything we needed and the value for money is great. We totally recommend this place and we will surely stay here again when we will come back to Chaouen! If you have the chance, we also suggest to take a day trip to Akchour and do some hike. Thank you for everything and hope to see you soon! Giulia & Angelo
