Amazing island , but not so amazing service.. We stayed at Bingtang View for a few nights, the toilets and rooms are v clean, the Malay food is amazing, and the owner does good western food as well (she is western after all!). The problem with the place for lots of people is the noise from Long beach, any bungalow...

I would describe my 2 nights at Bintang View as 2 nights from hell in the jungle. I had a dark, smelly (really bad body odor stink), damp, hot little cabin with a semi-functional fan. It was also filled with mosquitos. Maybe I did something wrong with the net, but after 2 days I had more mosquito bites on my...

We stayed 4 nights. The bungalows are a bit dark, but very complete, including laundry rack, seats and a good boxshaped mosquito net. Little touches like being able to switch off the light from within the mosquito net have been thought of. Bathroom facilities are clean and crisp. In general a good place to stay. We paid 50 RM for...

Me, my girlfriend and friend stayed in the Bintang and it was a great experience, the food was great and the best coffee since arriving in Malaysia. We looked at previous chalets on the island and one in particular had disgusting washing facilities but the facilities in the Bintang were spotless. If i was a potential tourist/traveller, I would recommend...

We stayed at Bintang Chalets on 26 March, 2012. The triple room was 65 Ringet and the rooms are basic but nice (shared bathrooms). We chose to stay just one night because the mosquitoes in the room were problematic and currents on Long Beach were strong; swimming was quite dangerous, so much so that 2 people died while we were...

Stayed here in June 2011 and can't recommend it highly enough. Finola, Joe and the lads make you feel very welcome. The food is great and would not be out of place in any gastro pub/ trendy cafe in London. Having Wi-fi and your own little veranda makes this a really great place to chill, most of the time we...

Stayed here 5 nights in August/September, just when the Malay celebrate Hari Raya (Ramadan) and eventhough a lot of the locals were hangry/grumpy it's a lovely place. The chalets are located on the "hill" (just bit further up, like not even 5min from the beach) and therefore you have equal walking distance to either long beach or coral bay. Well...

Stayed here for 3 nights, seems to be some of the nicest bungalows around.  The rooms are basic but nice, each with a porch out front with chairs.   The bathrooms are clean and plentiful, never left outside waiting even though the place was full. The restaurant had a fantastic view over the bay and seemed to have the best...

“There is a generator at the top of the hill which can be loud - try ask for a chalet that isn't so close to it.”

“Any place is fine. Lovely. Better than Tropicana, Matahari chalets or anything on the island. The fact that the landlord is Irish gives the place a greater value: she can understand us, with our European culture. She is not running after money, although she could rise up the price of her chalets. It is sad though that the bar/restaurant was closed...”
