Stayed one night at this hotel in early August and had no issues or problems. Comfortable room with a good aircond, friendly and attentive staff. Room was clean but a little bit dated. Shower screen is a bit tight and not really designed for europeans so some error on the part of the designers..could barely squeeze in and out of... More

Our stay at The Hotel Sandakan was pleasant enough. They have wifi and a decent breakfast bar with enough options to keep you happy. The dinner buffet was also rather good. They were happy to let you leave your bags whilst we visited Turtle Island, which was rather good of them as well!

Our family stayed at Hotel Sandakan for two nights in April 2011, before and after our four day tour in Sabah. Our travel agent, Megah Tours (by the way a very good travel agent), had booked three rooms for us. The rooms were simple but clean, the staff was friendly and the location very good. Considering what we paid, we... More

We stayed a night in the deluxe room at room 203, the air conditioner was noisy and the bed sheet are dirty. We didn't ask for breakfast but the reception told us we were given free breakfast but then when we went down for breakfast we were rejected then they told us because of the system error.

What a great Location for Sandakan town. We really enjoyed our two nights here. We stayed one night before our Orangutan and jungle trip and then another night before moving onto Mataking Island. We were made very welcome. The rooms are very comfortable and have tea and coffee making facilities. The staff are very friendly and go the extra mile.... More

The room was large with an ocean view. I needed an outlet for my CPAP machine and there wasn't one by the bed. Housekeeping brought me an extension cord and plug. They were very helpful. Some reception personnel could not understand English. The food in their restaurant was very disappointing for our Western palates.

Nice staff, OK breakfast, rather small room, horrible view from the backside of the hotel, but location was good: it's only a short walk to the city's bay. We've really missed a pool! Sandakan for itself is not a place to come back to, unless for travelling into the nearby jungle.
