While I agree that some aspects of the Sabah Hotel may be getting “tired” (as mentioned in earlier reviews), however, considering the other choices in Sandakan, I was totally willing to overlook the fatigue. Honestly, it was more the soft furnishings that needed attention and were getting a little worn. We made use of the recreational facilities (both the gym... More

We chose the Sabah Hotel because of it's unique location surrounded by lush rainforest and the views from our 6th floor room were stunning to look out over the canopy. We stayed 3 nights before and 2 nights after our highly recommended "Borneo Eco 4-Day Tour" and loved our large, cool, comfortable and very clean room. The spacious bathroom had... More

Rooms were a bit dated but location was good, pool area great food very good. The assistance from the tourist shop was especially good. I would go back to this hotel ... it was very good value.

We stayed here for the second time this year and this time we bought two of our children who stayed in the room next to us. They loved the pool, the food and the locality. There are wonderful choices for eating in the hotel and breakfast is superb. Our rooms were big, clean, cool and comfortable. The hotel is just... More

This is one of the few places we stayed where our usual 2x adults and 2x kids in one room strategy didn't work and we had to book 2x adjoining rooms (doubling costs). We booked almost a year before our trip, so it was a little frustrating on arrival to be told that we could only have adjoining "smoking" rooms... More

On arrival at the hotel, I was a little dissapointed, however, we were there for 3 nights and the longer I stayed the more I enjoyed it. The hotel is independant and privately owned. Whilst it has all the trappings of a modern 4* hotel, it has a characteristic of its own. The rooms were large and airy and clean.... More

this is no doubt the best Hotel in Sandakan but still reasonably priced, the rooms are large and very clean and the amenities like pool, gym and sauna are first class. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is the ideal base to go and visit the Orang-utan and Proboscis monkey sanctuaries as well as for river and island... More

We spent our last night in Borneo in Sabah Hotel, having explored the nearby Sepilok and Kinabatangan jungle attractions. I guess you could just go to the airport from Sepilok, or even from Myne resort, but it was good to have our last night in a reasonable four star with a great pool. The hotel is a bit overdue a... After 19 hours of travelling to get there the last thing I wanted was to wait for the receptionist to finish texting on her mobile to check us in. She didn't even tell us how to get to our room. The rooms were large & clean & had free WIFI (yay!). Eventhough I had pre-paid for breakfast, the restaurant staff... More

When we were planning our trip to Sandakan in Borneo, we concluded that it was the best hotel, but a little out of town. Do not let this put you off, as it is actually only a ten minute walk away, or very short taxi ride. We arrived in the evening when it was dark. Our sixth floor room overlooked... More
