We stayed here two nights in the end, one was unplanned when we made a hasty exit from Libaran Island. For us it was mainly a staging post to other places - to explore the turtle islands and then as an overnight before leaving for Sukau. It is, however, a reasonable base providing good facilities with a nice pool area.... More

We visited Sandakan to see the Orangutans, probiscus monkeys and the War memorial park. We saw all of the above in a day trip organised through the hotel and were very satisfied. Our tour guide was excellent and very knowlegdable. One of the more interesting parts was the water villages around Sandakan - quite incredible. The Sabah hotel was rated... More

We stayed at the Sabah hotel on three separate nights between tours. We had pre booked direct with the hotel and got a very good deal with breakfast included in a superior room. Each time we checked in we were offered an upgrade to an executive room for 30 ringit. We took this up on the last day as we... More

One of the best hotel in Sadakan known as the Sabah Hotel, located just a short distance of 5 minutes away from town. Sabah Hotel is known to be the only hotel in Sandakan to have a swimming pool! The place is relaxing, quiet and with excellent service. I stayed in the Exective Parlour floor. The room is very spacious.

I took a road trip from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan and stayed in the Jr. Suite at this hotel. The room as spacious and provided a huge king size bed. That said, it was pretty dated. The TV was small for the distance from the bed, which made it a bit hard to watch. The balcony had plenty of room... More

Very friendly and helpful staff as everywhere in Malaysia, the pool area was nice and the hotel is in an excellent location, but our room (indeed the hotel generally) was looking a little jaded. It actually felt quite damp and musty, and the bathroom needed some attention. Carpets in the tropics are a questionable choice, wooden floors or tiles (or... More

We spent three nights in interconnecting rooms. The accommodation is ok - it could be better without the stained carpets anyhow the bathrooms and bed sheets were very clean. The pool area is great and our kids loved it. The breakfast is good but the restaurant smells of fish-oyster-soy sauce so eat outside. The staff are helpful despite other comments.... More

I stayed at this hotel in early April 2012. It was a lovely break from spending four days in the jungle! The pool was a very welcoming sight! The rooms are average, and beds a bit firm. The staff at the Plantation restaurant/bar were very inattentive. They would not return to your table for drink refills or for new orders.
