We stayed 2 nights in this lovely place! Although the humidity was a little bit higher than we expected, we enjoyed our stay there! The decoration lobby/restaurant/garden is remarkable, U can plan more than a day near the pool and the ocean! The staff is friendly and ready to make you feel at home! Wifi and mobile coverage is not...

We had an excellent stay on Ifaty beach for the low season. We stayed for four days/nights. There just one other couple for two nights and then just us. It's was during rainy season but no rain this time. The highlight was a visit with local fishermen on a boat on the lagoon and a visit to a local village....

Dont miss the sunset over Mozambique Channel. Nice rooms, genuine friendly service and staff. Good food, small choice menu. Safe but no fridge in room, Wifi in lobby. Hawkers on the beach. Nice to relax here two days after 12 days hectic shcedule of our tour.

I stayed here at the end of our overland trip before heading back to Tana. Spent a couple of days here and the ambiance was wonderful. The location on the beach is great. I took a zebu ride into town which was a blast and the hotel arranged that for us. Of course being on the beach has its own...

Rooms were excellent and comfortable. Staff come in and prepare for night with insect repellants and to make the beds ready. Great view of the indian ocean but you do get pestered for massages and by people wanting to sell souvenirs. Really is irritating. Food (particularly the breakfasts) were very good. Some inflexibility with regards to food - if you...

We stayed two nights here towards the end of a group tour of southern Madagascar. The road from Tulear has now been sealed and we were soon shown a comfortable detached room facing the sea. Lunch was served near the beach. At first the vendors tried to sell us there wares but when requested they waited further away on the...

This is a lovely hotel on the edge of the sea. It was quiet as it was still off peak. Our room was lovely and had mosquito nets. The staff were a delight, helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. We indulged and had lobster. There was Internet. Watching the sunset was memorable. The pool was idyllic and a great...

From the balcony of my bungalow I could sit and watch the ocean. This is a VERY nice place to stay. Very clean and comfortable; great food; wine too. The snorkeling was very good and I enjoyed the ride with the two local guys from the village and their small outrigger sailboat. The hotel will arrange everything. If you are...

It's architecturally beautiful, and the bungalows are well done. The sea had too many jellyfishes for us to venture in, but the setting is beautiful. The pool was peaceful if not in tiptop condition. We would have had a wonderful time. There were, however, two things that were irritating that very nearly spoiled the whole experience. One is the incessant...

We stayed overnight at this hotel at the end of an eleven day tour of Madagascar by road from Antananarivo. It was unfortunate that we couldn't have spent longer at the hotel which is situated on the Mozambique Channel to recover from a what was a long and sometimes arduous journey down route 7. Never the less we had time...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Les Dunes d'Ifaty is boutique hotel, build from local materials, located 27 kilometres north of the city of Tulear, next to the "Mangily" fishing village and is built over an area of 6 hectares amidst a flora of tropical and other typical indigenous plants from this dry region of the south of Madagascar. The main building is designed following a wide-open-style structure, the roofing being supported by large pillars, with a seven metre high tree in the centre. In the main building are located the reception, the lounge, the main bar, the main restaurant and the kitchen. All the rooms are on both sides of the main building. The villa rooms are facing the sea, while the superior and standard rooms are in a tropical garden. They are not far from the swimming pool which is next to the beach. There is a beach bar where one can find drinks and food which is directly on the beach. The hotel is not far from the spiny forest(UNESCO registered), which is worth a visit and where one can see baobab(Reniala)trees and all the endemic plants of the south of Madagascar. Bird watchers will be able to find quite a few rare birds endemic to this southern part. Many different type of reptiles and animals can also be seen and the guides who speek many foreign languages will be delited to tell you more about them. ... more   less
