I stayed for a week while on a business trip in the area and really enjoyed the venue, service and catering. The first night was venison curry, second night the legendary eland steak, then bream fillets and finally a wildebeest bbq. Rooms are spacious and I had a stunning view over the dry river bed of the Bubye river. Trees...

The motel is like an oasis after travelling on the roads of Zimbabwe. There is very beautiful gardens around the motel but the motel is in a desperate need for an upgrade. The beds needs to replaced and requires air-conditioning rooms. The motel has no WiFi and television's. The rooms are small but clean. Please note that the motel is...

Traveling the whole day, all one need is warm shower and a bed. The bed we got but the warm shower never happened. The evening when we arrived, not hot water, the following morning no hot water. Place is tired and need some TLC. For $65, bed only it is a bit steep. Wont recommend it at all. Very disappointing.

Our group of travelers (3 couples) stayed at the Lion and Elephant on a trip to Zimbabwe last month (February 2016). A road trip in Zimbabwe can be quite grueling and getting to the Lion and Elephant was like coming to an oasis.

A great place to stop for a rest when travelling between Zim and SA, staff are friendly and helpful. We once arrived very late and they made a special arrangement to get some food brought to our room. The food is very nice but not cheap at all. It is very pretty with lush vegetation and paths to go for...

Don't expect 5 star but this establishment continues to try its best through the thick and thin of this beautiful country's hardships. We always stay here because we feel loyal to its management and owners. Birdlife is great! Food not so great and is expensive for what it is. The value to the US$ is not valid - sadly. Accommodation...

My mate flew us in with a 4-seater many years ago and he had to do a fly past twice in an attempt to scare off the cattle from the runway. Unfortunately, all he managed to do was scare off a few warthog into the bush. So he decided to land anyway which caused a bull to chase us which...

Lion & Elephant Motel is the perfect place to stay overnight after the chaos of the South Africa, Zimbabwe border post. The rooms are perfectly adequate for an overnight stay but get extremely hot, especially when the power goes off. We usually bring our own dinner from South Africa and sit outside by the river which is a fantastic setting...

Great place to split the trip up from Harare and Johannesburg, very peaceful, had a good restful sleep!! Rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and the beers were nice and cold! Breakfast was good, with a range of breakfasts to suite anyone, even a takeaway breakfast!! And the bacon was a winner!!
