Emeralda Resort Ninh Binh is celebrated by guests for its spacious and comfortable rooms that boast stunning views and provide unique experiences. While some travelers question the value for the price, especially concerning dining and excursions, the resort's cleanliness and abundant amenities like pools, gardens, and spa treatments receive high praise.
The atmosphere is described as everything from cozy and artistic to tranquil amidst nature. However, service quality appears inconsistent, with reports of both excellent attention and moments of neglect by staff members.

Detailed Reviews
We have really enjoyed our two night stay at the Emeralda Resort as part of our tour of Vietnam. The rooms are in cabins dotted around the gardens and are large and comfortable. They have good beds and showers. The swimming pools are superb with the indoor pool being heated. Changing rooms, showers and pool towels are available at the pool complex. The bar and restaurant offer the same menu with everything from a full meal to sandwiches or a bowl of pho. The food was very good and service throughout the resort was efficient and friendly. My only recommendation for improvement would be for more guidance on how to use the room TV and air conditioning. I couldn't work out either but, of course, that could just be me!

+1
Peaceful and green. Built like the old "rich" village of Vietnam supposed to be, the place is surrounded by garden, fruit tree and and pond. Lots of space for kids to run around. There's indoor pool with hot water for cold season which was loved by the kids. The breakfast buffet (free) and dinner buffet (paid) were great, not so much variety but the taste was authentic and nice.

The rooms were large and with an extremely comfortable bed and good shower. The resort is set out over a large area in sections and has a feel of privacy around the rooms. We went on a fabulous tour with Dung, our guide, who apart from being very knowledgeable, was a pleasure to spend the day with - a true gentleman. I wish we had stayed longer than 2 nights.

This hotel was okay. It's high up in the mountains with a beautiful view, like the clouds are beneath you. Decent breakfast. We had a duplex. One bedroom was upstairs and the other downstairs. The separation between our families up/down was a little annoying. Had to keep running up and down between suitcases. The rooms were cold and they had to bring electric heaters in to warm them up, so much that we didn't even take showers there during our night stay. Overall it's okay. We used the spa there. The foot massage area was a bit too hot, almost suffocating! Overall, it was okay. Maybe a 4 star.

To start, we didn't find Ninh Binh a terribly interesting stop. It seems to be "on the travel agent list" of places that the Vietnam tour industry is promoting as a destination. Basically a day trip through the flatlands on a small row boat, a brief hike to a well traveled cave, then more boating through some caves. Frankly not worth the time/drive to and from, but hindsight is 20/20 and now you have some foresiight.
As far as the hotel goes, first and foremost - like every hotel staff we encountered on our trip, everyone was lovely and did their best. Unfortunately we arrived at this property right after staying at the Sofitel in Hanoi, and our expectations were probably too high. This is definitely a "tourist stop" property, that seems to cater to group tours. Our visit was limited to one night so we couldn't/didn't take advantage of the property itself, which looked nice. That said the rooms are spacious but basic; ours was a little musty. We were there during TET and the hotel was virtually empty except for a National Geographic Tour group. It's not near anything so the hotel bar/restaurant are the only options and we didn't particularly like either one. The first dining room we were seated in had so much citronella burning the odor was overpowering. We moved to another room and asked that they turn on the A/C to vent the room. Per above, the staff is well meaning but we had trouble finding anyone that spoke English well enough that we could convey or orders; we ended up "hijacking" the Nat Geo tour guide to translate for us. So to sum it up, we's skip both the location, and this property.

Structually the hotel and its surrounding gardens are very well designed but the hotel has seen its best days gone for long. The gardens, swimmingpools and recreational areas are filthy and run down. The lobby area is relatively well kept and gives you a good first impression when entering the hotel. All other areas are worse. Rooms are shabby, furniture run dow, bathroom dark and smelly, terrace dirty and lounge chairs not useable. Staff is not attentive, friendly or helpful, breakfast staff was so unfriendly that we asked them not to continue serving us. Food at breakfast and dinner was mediocre. The hotel is outside Ninh Binh and is only recommended for one overnight stay when your travel itinerary requires it. We were glad when we left.

This resort has lots of potential but generally looks run down with shabby painted building, paint and soft furnishings are beige, lampshades, curtains, paint, soft furnishings making it quite a drab environment. The rooms are a decent size with balconies but no loungers or chairs so seemed a bit pointless, the bathrooms were a good size with bath and shower, the room was clean. We had to send food back three times at the restaurant as it was cold and the portions are not great. Wine is expensive and so is the food as basically you are captive in the rural area. Staff attempted to be helpful, their English was not the best and few of them seemed particularly happy in their work. The gym is big and quite good as is the indoor pool. The hotel drivers were good and helpful.

My family has stayed for 2 nights with some unexpected experiences which you normally demand in a 4-star resort. We had arrived at the hotel at 7.30PM after a 4.30 hour of driving trip from Moc Chau with our rental car. There was no people to welcome us after our car had parked in the front lobby for 5 mins. The first terrible impression which I didn't expect.
We are arranged to stay in the Bamboo Garden where the room design is acceptable. However the old built-in closet got squeaky which caused a lot of inconvenience during the stay, and it couldn't be imagined that the handle of glass door in the shower are in a wrong installation.
After checking in the room, we had a dinner in the Sen Restaurant. We got sitting in the outdoor place near the pool but after the food came out, there was no waiter to serve our further orders and demands. Even we got an unfriendly behaviour from the waitress.
On the 2nd day night, when we came back the hotel at 6.30PM after a trip to Trang An and Bai Dinh Pagoda, the door had been locked and we had to wait for 15 mins outside before there was a staff coming to help. It happened again in the next morning when we came back the room to pack the luggage, and again we have to wait for the staff coming to open the door.
In conclusion, we enjoyed the beautiful landscape, the tranquility and the traditional architecture in Emeralda but the service was very poor. I definitely would not recommend this place to any of my friends.

Nice resort, clean and spacious room. Food was good. We ordered avocado smoothie that costed Vnd 120k while the lunch set menu for 2 pax only Vnd 500k. Staffs were friendly but we asked for restaurant recommendations, the only answer was “ their restaurant”. It could be good for hotel sales but as a guest, I expected more than that. It really made us feel like staying here means eat here, sleep here. so why we need to travel?

We stayed here for two nights on a touring holiday of Vietnam. The hotel is spaciously laid out in accommodation clusters and the rooms large with traditional architecture. It was comfortable befitting the price paid without having a wow factor.
The issue was the infrastructure. The hotel is quite remote so we chose to eat on site in the evenings. When eating in the a la carte restaurant we decided to eat inside given the humidity and the bug problem expected at the time of year we visited.
However we did not expect the rat running around the restaurant. On our trip we have seen lots of rats and of course in the local restaurants in Hanoi this might be expected but they are open aired. This was an enclosed restaurant the rat came from the kitchen and caused many tables discomfort as it ran around from wall to wall without the staff trying to deal with it.
We left swiftly having eaten with our feet in the air as it had run over my foot. We were charged VND 1,800,000 for four courses and only offered a 20% discount which we had to do at reception and after a lot of negotiation.
To make matters worse that night we were woken by loud gurgling from the drains and an awful smell that started in the bathroom and by two hours later the smell was disgusting. Luckily we checked out that morning.

Tuan Tu was excellent. It is not fancy but a lovely family restaurant and delicious food!
We thought the hotel food was okay.
We had a guide and driver and found it very convenient, especially not knowing the terrain and locations of the sites we were visiting. Walking would be quite a trek, even to the nearest sites and I think cycling would be quite a ride as well. I would recommend using a guide who also can expedite ticketing and show you some shortcuts. You might want to check with the concierge at Emeralda. Good luck.
Hi JoAnna, can you give me your email so that i can send the list price of massage to you.
You can do but they're quite expensive, we hired a moped and did it ourselves. There's tam coc which is really good, the ancient capital and then bai dinh pagoda ...and van long nature reserve is just up the road which is beautiful 😊how long are you planning on staying for?
