This was by far the best home stay experience I have ever had. I enjoyed interacting with the family and that is what made the experience for me. Thanh was extremely accomodating and pays attention to detail. He even offered to pick me up from the bus station at 3:30 in the morning! The property it self was located very nicely. It was quiet and hidden from the busy streets but close enough to the town centre. The property was very well maintained with a nice, clean swimming pool, beautiful garden and clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was very yummy. I recommend the banana pancakes. Thanh and his wife cooked me amazing dinners and even taught me how to make fried spring rolls which I highly recommend. There were bicycles and motorbikes available for hire at a reasonable price. Thanh was available to answer any questions I had. I spent many hours drinking green tea with him. Of course the experience is always what you make of it and I decided to spend time with him and his lovely family which is what made the experience for me (good food and great people). I hope they come visit me in California one day.

Our first homestay so not sure what to expect but it was brilliant!
Lovely room with bed, table, chairs, kettle, cups (no tea bags...), fridge, shower etc and a little outside undercover seating area. All enclosed in a courtyard that's full of trees, flowers and other plants. Very relaxing, peaceful and quiet.
Breakfast was nice, banana pancakes were good, but would perhaps have done with a little more cooking.
The family who run the homestay were amazing, so helpful and kind. We arrived at 4am (8 hours before check in!) And they were happy to have us check in early for only 100,000 dong or 150,000 dong with breakfast. So grateful for this!! We hired a moped from the family (a well used moped but it did the trick!) And they had bicycles available too.
Location-wise it's off of the main strips but no more than a 5 to 10 minute walk from the restaurants and pubs and the lake. We didnt visit Tam Coc lake but went to Trang An which was muuuuch nicer and you don't get scammed!
Overall couldnt recommended this place enough.

This is an excellent clean homestay with spacious rooms, lots of hot water, clean bathrooms and just a very short walk to the all the restaurants in town. Breakfast was good and part of the price. Excellent surroundings and nice places to sit outside of your room. Very happy and would definitely stay here again. We had a little hiccup with our booking that was made well in advance, so I would suggest that you reconfirm direct about a week before. All was resolved quickly.

All the positive comments you can read about the cleanliness of the place and the welcoming atmosphere are nothing until you actually experience them. I have sent in over 100 reviews, and I have seldom/never been so positive about a hotel stay. It’s not a 5-star hotel and there is no fancy facilities. You’re not directly on a lake or river, but once you’re inside and get to know this family, and see how hard they work to genuinely please you, you feel like being home.

Room is pretty old, but with such that cheap price (500.000 VND for 4 persons) it can be acceptable. Water is dirty, we had to use bottle of water that we bought at supermarket to wash our face. Good location (near Tam Coc, Bich Dong pagoda...).

From the moment we arrived we knew we made the right choice. The entire family was so welcoming, warm and helpful.

The place is beautiful, the rooms are clean, great WiFi throughout the property, centrally located to everything in Tam Coc. The property also has bikes you can rent for cheap and laundry services.

They allowed us to shower and hangout on property before getting on the nightbus (which they happily booked for us) and even drove us with our backpacks to the bus via moped!

Spent 4 nights at Thanh Dat Homestay in Tam Coc. The owner and his family were very helpful and always pleasant. Thanhs greeted us with ginger tea as we checked in. We arrive about 10 am after an overnight train ride from Hue. The driver Thanh had sent to pick us up at the train was waiting when we arrived. Thanh must have known we did not eat on the train as he offered us breakfast (even though their breakfast hours ended at 10 am) which was greatly appreciated. After breakfast our rooms were ready.

We rented bikes at the Homestay 2 days. Thanh was very patient about adjusting seats and trying bikes until all 4 of us found bikes we were comfortable on.

The Homestay consists of 2 building with a court yard between them and one room in the main house. One building has 2 rooms. The other building has 4 rooms. The two rooms we saw both had 2 beds. Our friends room was larger than ours and had more room to open out the suitcases. It got cool one night, but we bundled up and were fine. There is not heat in the rooms. There is air conditioning and a fan. The shower is what our friends call a "Thai shower". The shower head is on the wall of the bathroom, but there is no shower stall. The important thing is to remember is to place the toilet paper outside the room while showering so it does not get wet! You turned the hot water on 10 minutes before you wanted to shower and the hot water was great.

Meals are served in a small area at the end of the larger building with 4 tables. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. There were fried eggs and bread, pancakes (crepes), fried noodles, fresh fruit and juice. We had dinner at the Homestay the first night. It was good, but we had better meals during our stay.

The Thanh Dat Homestay was an easy walk to town. As we rode the bikes or walked in the area we saw lots of Homestays that looked nice, but most were a distance from town. Being close to town gave us easy access to all the restaurants in town.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We had no difficulty staying busy for 4 days- biking, walking and one day hiring a driver to take us to areas that were too far to bike or walk to.
