We chose this hotel because we were only in Pai town for one night and wanted a central location and the price through a well-known hotel booking operator was reasonable. We thought "how bad could it be for one night?".

Pros - good-sized room with tea/coffee facilities. Great location. Staff were clearly expecting us on arrival and showed us to our rooms quickly and efficiently and were also very helpful as we departed.

Cons - It was January so we knew the nights would be cold in Pai. What we hadn't expected was to shiver the night away under the duvet. And searching revealed no blankets anywhere - and you couldn't contact reception to assist as it is not manned overnight.

The air-con appeared to have the facility to switch to warm air, but it didn't work in reality. This was not helped by the modern, concrete-finish to the rooms which might be cool in summer, but just added to the feeling of coldness and dampness at this time of year.

The door to the bathroom opened to 3 huge steps down into the cold, concrete bathroom, with its small open window to the elements and mozzies. There was a rail to cling to but the floor was lethal once you showered. Showering in the cold is not nice when you are already freezing after a night's sleep - brrrrrr. Our friends next door had the most appalling smell in their bathroom, such that they brushed their teeth elsewhere. Ours was not so bad, but you cannot help but be aware of an unpleasant pong from time-to-time.

Like many other reviewers, I was disturbed by huge amounts of noise from the various neighbours, there is clearly a sound-proofing issue with this hotel. Shame, as the look of the chalets and the grounds they are in (whilst small) is quite appealing on arrival.

For some reason - the staff? - I have felt reluctant to list the cons of this hotel, but I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend it to a friend. Which is a shame, because it could easily be a special, boutique resort, on par with many others we have enjoyed in Thailand,

Found this great set of quaint bungalows in the centre of Pai, almost like a boutique hotel style bungalow. They are located in the centre, just a few doors down from Poppies cafe, so easy to walk to everything. The bungalows are new and a real find, they are clean and the beds are comfy. We were charged 500 Baht a night for a stylish double room which had a TV, and an electric shower in the bathroom. The chap who runs it is very friendly and helpful and speaks great english. Can't recommend it highly enough.

a sweet bungalow in the jungalow! a last minute decision to pai and found this recommended so emailed dum at info@baansuanrimpai.com and he was immediately responsive and continued to be so throughout and after my one-night stay. the bungalows are nicer than your average. though a bit small, they are clean, well-kept, simple, pretty and situated in their own cute green and lush courtyard. we had a front porch with chairs and a table and sitting on the steps looking out to the courtyard and our little village of bungalows was also very pleasant. it is situated at the end of one side of the river near great bars and restaurants. as it is off the river, it is conveniently located but since it is a bit further down a side street, there is a lot of privacy and tranquility. it turned out to be a busy holiday weekend so the room wasn't available another night but dum had recommendations of other places and hooked me up with a bike rental from next door's private stash as the town was dry on rentals. am coming back to pai in january and there is no doubt i will stay here!

I'm rating many of the places I've stayed at excellent because I cannot believe how inexpensive these really nice places are and how comfortable they are.

PROS: Baan Suan Rim Pai was very clean. Two bottles of water were provided free of charge every night. The Air Conditioner worked well. It is also located within minutes of many bars and restaurants but far enough away where we couldn't really hear the nightlife when we wanted to call it in early.

CONS: The restroom is closed off from the main room and does not get AC. Mosquitoes could also get in. The room shared the same roof as 3 other rooms and sound projected easily. We could hear the shower and other activities (pooping) from the rooms next door. Fortunately they were all our friends (traveling together) and so we didn't really care; it made communicating with them easier through the walls.

What a great location! It is right in town but the rooms are in the back so it is quiet. Very simple rooms, spacious and nice. Cute little porches for sitting and reading. The bathrooms were fine. Very typical SE Asia with an open shower and nothing fancy.

The location, the bungalows, the price, everything was perfect. You can't go wrong here--great little bungalow rooms set back a little off a main street. It's an easy walk from the Pai bus station. The bathrooms are set up so the whole room has a floor drain and you use the whole room to shower. Our room had an AC unit and a fan.

Bungalow set back from street so street noise not a problem. But, bathroom shared a wall with bathroom next door and wall did not reach to the ceiling. Result is I was treated to bathroom noises and conversation from neighbors. The other major problem was the shower which sprayed the entire bathroom but missed me entirely. Smaller problem was t.v. that showed only one show in English--Al Jazeera. Also the bed had no top sheet, a common complaint in Thailand.

I was looking to move hotel and wanted something closer to the river in Pai. I checked a few places then came across this place. The place is a well presented group of bungalows in a very good location for Pai whilst still being close to the river. There are bars, restaurants, shops and massage places all within a minute or twos walk from the resort.
The bungalows themselves are not huge but are very comfortable with good tv, air con and decent comfy bed. The inside of the bungalows are finished in a type of stone effect plaster which looks quite good. The general level of workmanship is very good so you dont get the little gaps here and there that let in all the ants and bugs.
The price is good too - when I went in March the whole place seemed to be empty so negotiated a discount for the room and ended up paying 600 baht a night for one of their air conditioned bungalows. You can get cheaper places than this in Pai but you cannot get better value. I will go back for sure if I return to Pai.
Also I have to mention the manager. He is a young Thai man who speaks excellent English and is very friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much of a problem and I suggest you check this place out as your first choice when you go to Pai (unless you want to try one of the places listed on trip advisor that are several kilometres outside of Pai). Also worth a mention is the very funny guy who runs the convenient little shop directly opposite - make sure you get your laundry done there!

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was right at the back and it was quite comfortable. However we could still hear the doof doof doof of music til late at night. The bathrooms are semi-outdoor and not sound proof so you get acquainted with the bathroom habits of your neighbours. We were woken one night by someone whose bathroom backed onto ours vomiting with gusto. Very close to Walking Street where we ate fantastic street food each night. You could probably do better but Pai is very popular and lots of places are booked out.
