After staying three nights, we can confirm that Baan Suchadaa is an exceptional place. However, the start was not as smooth as it could have been. First, the resort is really difficult to find if you travel without GPS. The problem is that there is only a very small sign beside the gate. Ok, that might have been our fault. But being urged to choose what you want to eat for dinner immediately after arriving was not very pleasant. Anyhow, the property is really beautiful and the room (we had the triple) was comfortable with very good beds and a decent bathroom. The pool is extremely nice and big enough for swimming. The only downside are the stairs that are a bit loose and have some sharp edges. To watch the sunset over the rice paddies is a great experience, although furniture are very low and not comfortable for eating. It would be good to have at least two tables in "western" dimensions. On the first day, the food itself was kind of disappointing since it was far from real Thai. The second day, we had more time to choose so we were more satisfied but still it was just falang food. In addition, the prices on the menue do not include service charge and taxes, a habit we don't like and one that's definitely not typical Thai. The days to come really improved this first impression. Breakfast was excellent in every aspect, I really had a great day relaxing in the garden. The staff were nice although they didn't speak much English. In total, we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your ranking. For all readers, I repeat the most important items: Baan Suchadaa is located from Ratsadaa Bridge : 3 km northbound in a straight line. We recommend you to check-in during the afternoon, order your meals before 17.00 Using our salt water infinity pool with its wonderful view over the paddies is a great way to chill out. Dinner is served at 19.00 at the pool terrace for all guests. Thai cuisine kindly cooked by the owner Mrs Suchadaa herself. Spicy or less spicy, according to your wishes. Generally highly appreciated by thai and foreign guests. We have standard rooms: basic decoration, correctly equipped, with a decent bathroom and a large balcony, 2nd floor. Bungalow Superior rooms: beautifully decorated rooms with terrace overlooking the pond and the garden. Bungalow Deluxe rooms: stylish decorated large rooms with large bathroom and terrace overlooking the pond. Breakfast is served from 7.30 to 10.00 (continental, thai or vegetarian) Late breakfast until 11.00 is possible upon request. Settle your bill in cash or with credit card (+3%). Interested? Hope to welcome you on our grounds. Bas (Owner)

I booked to stay 3 nights - and wish it had been more. Check-in was a little unsettling. There's some basic rules about meal times and ordering food to be followed - which make sense - but the staff's english was a bit limited and with the water levels of the lake quite low and the paddy fields dry....I began to think I'd chosen badly. I was wrong. The place is set in beautiful grounds, with bucolic views across sunrise fields to mountains in the distance. The pool is beautiful and stylish. The main guest reception area and the rooms are tastefully designed in traditional Thai style, with a lot of attention to detail. Breakfast is tasty and filling. Dinner was reasonably priced and good quality. The staff soon warm up to you so that communication isn't an issue. And Bas the host is pleasant company and informative to boot. I really liked this place, and would like to return. I think it would be best enjoyed over at least 2 nights, and, ideally, with your own transport. You are a 10 minute drive to central Lampang - which in my view gives you the best of both worlds: a pleasant little riverside town, and a wonderful country retreat. Thank you to everyone at Baan Suchadaa.

We spent 2 nights here having flown from UK so we were tired and arriving at this exquisite and tranquil place was wonderful. Only 1.5 hours from busy Chiang Mai and it seems a world away. Bas is a charming and welcoming host, the staff are friendly and helpful but don’t speak much English. Pool overlooking the rice paddies has to be the perfect place for a refreshing gin and tonic. Our room overlooked the pond, it was comfortable, well equipped and immaculately clean. Wished we could’ve stayed longer & would return in a heartbeat

Thank you so much for your very positive review ! Highly appreciated ! Yes we continue to do our best to receive our guests the best possible way. Lampang, still a non touristic place, is a city where English is hardly spoken. As a consequence, it is nearly impossible to attract English speaking staff. This being said, we are very satisfied with our staff, who are committed, loyal, friendly and service-minded. Normally I am around to do the social talking with our guests in the different languages I acquired in my life. If not, our son Stefaan is here to here to help out with his English proficiency. We hope to welcome you on our grounds ! Bas (owner)

Set amidst rice fields on the outskirts of Lampang, the hotel is an oasis of peace and luxury. Looking out over the swimming pool in the hazy early morning light with a cup of coffee in your hand, you feel transported to a better planet. Bas, the owner, is something of a Renaissance man. Fluent in Thai, French, English, Dutch and German, guitarist, big bike fanatic, mountain bike aficionado, Asian traveller par excellence- he's the man. His charming wife Daa is the wizard in the kitchen. The food is succulent. Bike into town and visit the Sunday walking street and a wat or two. Scooter to the nearby Doi Khun Tan national park, check out the elephants, become a mahout, golf on the championship course and then have an in-house massage. Good humour guaranteed.

Dear Guest, What a rewarding pleasure to read your energetic review ! My wife Daa, our son Stefaan and myself experience great satisfaction in welcoming our guests and making them feel at ease in our property, that took me 8 years to build from scratch. We kindly receive guests who are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the quiet ambiance, knowing there are no children around to disturb them. (minimum guest age: 14 years) (If you fancy late nights with alcohol, music and lot's of people to interact with, you will be better off choosing a hotel in the city center.) Yes on Friday evenings (18-22.00) there is the cultural market in Lampang, while on Saturday en Sunday evenings (18.00-22.00) there is the evening market that is definitely worthwhile a stroll. If you wish to have a massage at our property, allow us some time check to whether one of our preferred masseuse is free and available to come along. Best is to order 1 day before. Otherwise there are plenty of massage salons in the city center, just 3 km away. Hoping to welcome you at Baan Suchadaa ! Bas (owner)
