Yes, the rooms are in need of some refurbishment, but who doesn't love old Thai granite benchtops and super spacious rooms? I was given a 3rd Floor room that even had a separate dressing room. Clean, neat, block-out curtains and an efficient air conditioner made my 5 day stay very pleasant. Breakfast was included and it was fresh and plentiful. Staff even sliced a fresh mango I bought in the markets. But the great thing about the Pin is its location. Being just 200 metres from the famous Saturday and Sunday walking markets in old China Town is a huge plus. Hint: At the main gate, if you turn right and right again, 500 metres down the road is a cafe in the Asia Lampang Hotel, but another 200 metres is an n 8.00 am opening cafe in the car service centre. The best coffee in Lampang. For value-conscious travellers, I recommend Pin.

I have stayed here many times and is my first choice in Lampang. Good prices, adequate coffee shop, friendly staff, but only the Manager, SUnita, speaks English well.
Central and convenient, taxi office next door.
Good, cheap WiFi, 300BT per week.
Not the Ritz but comfortable, clean and friendly.

We normally stay at the Wienglakor and I thought it was the best of a pretty bad bunch of hotels in the centre of Lampang but this time they had no double beds available so we tried the Pin. I now think this is the best in town. Ok we went for the more expensive suite at Bht 1600 per night with Wifi an extra Bht 120 but we enjoyed the stay, the room was clean and breakfast not bad for Lampang. The location is very central and there is a very good restaurant on the corner called Aroy One Baht which was very busy and very good.

A small family hotel right in the center of town...conveniently locate. Taxi to Chiang Mai is stationed nearby. From this hotel we took a horse drawn carriage around town in the evening and walked everywhere else. Several public markets, and shops are within a walking distance. We enjoyed our stay in a big clean room. Friendly staff. The food is okay. Comparing to staying in Chiangmai this is a much better deal. We loved the Elephant Conservation Center and the very old Thai Burmese wats.

A friendly, family-run small hotel. Right across the street from a large wat, so interesting to watch the daily life of the wat take place right out your window. Small, tasty restaurant on premises. Reasonably priced and good value.

I decided to explore Lampang for the first time and selected the Pin hotel through Booking.com. It turned out to be a good decision. The Pin is centrally located with easy walking access to a number of things worth seeing in the city. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The room was spacious, light and airy with sliding doors on to a narrow balcony, plus it had lots of cupboards, drawers and wardrobe space. Upon arrival I was greeted in a very friendly manner and found all of the staff to be pleasant and helpful. I really enjoyed the few days I stayed there and it will be my hotel of choice the next time I am in Lampang. The only down side was that, having paid for breakfast with the room, I wasn't overly impressed. They did not keep the cooked food warm enough. As for eating at other times, there are a number of good places within a short walk.

My wife and I stay in Lampang every year. We love the town and we were happy last year when we found The Pin Hotel to be comfortable and good quality. Well things have changed.

We checked in and immediately found the internet in our room to not be working. I contacted the front desk who said WIFI was not working on the second floor I would have to use the WIFI in the lobby. I asked to be moved to another floor, I was told the hotel was fully booked. So I was forced to work in either to the lobby or to the third floor. The worst part is that when I went to the third floor I saw there were many available rooms, as cleaning staff leaves the doors of the free rooms open. When I asked again to be moved I was told yes there are open rooms on the third and fourth floor but internet only worked in the hallway and not inside the rooms. Obviously that is an idiotic answer for anybody that understands how WIFI works and they were just preventing me from changing rooms.

So I was forced to sit in the common area for many hours during my three day stay while I completed my work and watch as new customers came in and out of rooms with perfectly working WIFI.

I would also advise that if you must stay in this hotel to request a room on the parking lot side of the building. They were much more recently renovated then the back side of the hotel where we were had plumbing problems and lots of mold in the bathroom.

Well located with only a short walk to the river or weekend street market. A good place to base yourself while you look around the town. The staff are helpful and the rooms are comfortable and clean; o.k for a couple of nights. The hotel itself is in desperate need of some renovation and the rooms need updating. Having said that, it's good value for money and does the job.

I stayed here with a group on a cultural tour of Northern Thailand. By far the best accommodation we had our entire tour.
The rooms are cheap but very clean with rooms cleaned daily. Hot water can be a bit hard to get some days but the air con works very well which is much more vital in my books!

I did have a few issues with laundry getting mixed up or going missing and it is a pretty expensive service (in fact I think my laundry cost more than the accommodation one night) but the clothes were beautifully ironed when returned.

The staff are extremely accommodating, friendly and willing to help, typical for the Thai culture, even with my limited Thai and their limited English.

WiFi did not work well in our room but we congregated out on the balcony on our floor each night where the WiFi was much better, for drinks and to skype back home which was great :)

I stayed at this hotel for my second night in Lampang because Tonnam Guesthouse was full. I paid 500 Baht + 75 Baht for buffet breakfast and my room was a twin on the second floor with a fantastic view of some fabulous wooden buildings outside. In fact, the view from the huge balcony was so beautiful that I found it hard to leave the room to go outside. Be aware though that the double rooms are newer-looking, but don't have this outside view. There is an average bathroom in the room although the step down into the shower area nearly got me injured several times as I kept on forgetting about it. The shower was good enough, but no toilet roll was provided in the lavatory. The sink unit had been designed in such a way as to make it impossible to place a universal sink plug so that guests wouldn't do their only laundry, but would rather pay for the hotel's laundry service. In reality, my dear Pin Hotel managers, it is possible to wash clothes in the shower. The sink is not indispensable for the task. There is a large and noisy aircon unit near the large balcony doors and slow wifi is also available. It is too slow to use the video on Skype. There is an adequate breakfast for 75 Baht. There was rice, a meat dish, scrambled eggs, toast, salad. orange juice, tea/coffee etc. The cooked food was COLD and the toast prone to be fingered by all guests and therefore is best avoided. However, the price for breakfast is ok when you consider that Riverside Guesthouse charges 100 Baht just for croissant, toast, jam and a drink. Also, the room price of 500 Baht is not excessive when you also consider that the above-mentioned guesthouse showed me a dump of a small fan room with large holes in the woodwork for 400 Baht. (disgraceful, Riverside Guesthouse!!!). I would stay here again. Very little English is spoken though. Indeed, the receptionist's English was so awful I thought she was speaking to me in Thai.
