Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Lady who runs the hostel is very nice and helpful. She almost speaks no english, but somehow she always knew what my intension was. The hostel is clean and has a small lobby in front of the hostel plus free coffee, tea and cookies all day long. Clean toilets, sinks and showers. It's a bit far away from all the other staff so we had to walk a lot which was okay but I guess it's better to rent a scooter or bike because taxis are quite expensive on this island, like 200 bhat from the hostel to the pier which is a 4 minute drive and a 15 minute walk.

The hostel itself was nice and clean and the staff were helpful and friendly! However for me the location was just too far out from the main bars and restaurants closer to Sairee Beach. The walk back aswell is quite hilly and dark on a night

I paid for my reservation online using Agoda, but received an email shortly after saying that Baan Chalok Hostel overbooked their rooms and that they were unable to accommodate me. They did not reimburse my booking reservation fee.

I was there last night with my husband and it was a noisy place. We booked a standard double bedroom. There was a group of Thai people having a party in front of the hostel and they did not stop until 1am.we didn't have hot water for the shower and when we arrived there was no toilet paper either.

Nice clean hostel, about 5 minutes walk to the beach. Although I should've gotten a drink on arrival, being a Genius Member, I did get breakfast in the morning in stead, which I appreciated more. They have free wifi, clean bathrooms and a rooftop-balcony with a view.

I was highly disappointed as the advertisement is not correct there where no laundry service or restaurant at the hostel. There are no lockers in the room to keep valuables. Also you have to pay 50baht per day to rent a locker. The staff don't really speak English which isn't a case breaker but it does make it really hard when asking for information. If you are traveling for diving and night life then this hostel is defiantly not the best option.

The hostel is out on a dusty road off the beaten path of Koh Tao. The attractions are limited, and it's a good 15 minute walk to sairee and Mae haad. Rooms were dusty from the dirt road outside and SO HOT even with all the fans on. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

If you can get the private one bedroom room with the balcony, it was gorgeous!! I went to Koh Tao to get my open water dive license and this was less than a 10 min walk from the dive school. It's great as a solo traveler because if you need to get up early it's quiet and if you want to be social you can make friends too. There was one night I had an early dive and people were being loud but I just went outside to talk to them and they were quiet by 10pm. Everything is walkable. Beautiful room. Top suggestions Ocean sound dive and yoga Su chili restaurant Yin yang restaurant Freedom beach John suwan viewpoint Aurora spa

I really enjoyed it here, the owner is super sweet and helpful, free breakfast in tge mornjng and free coffee, tea, biscuits and water throughout the day. Also free wifi which is only very strong in the lobby. Nice and clean, spacious and well located if you enjoy the charm of baan chalok rather than the hustle and bustle of Sairee and reasonably priced compared to most places on the island.

Stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time. This hostel has a good ambiance, people are generally friendly as well as the staff. Beds are wide and comfortable, the rooms are spacious. The only downside is the road that it is on is more of a dirt track than a road which can be a messy affair in the rain. Then again this can be said for many of the roads on Koh Tao!
