We are in the delux sea view room( 2 next to each other ) for my family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 teenage kids
The rooms are great ,plenty of room with an extra bed for my daughter in one of the rooms
2 big balconies that you can open the adjoining door to make into a huge balcony between the two rooms
Lovely hot showers and fantastic sunset views
The tiered pools are lovely
We were not expecting too much for breakfast with the previous reviews so we’re pleasantly surprised . Nice fruit , sausage , bacon and a lovely lady who will cook you omelette or fried eggs with toast . The only negative comment I have is the tea is totally undrinkable , stewed and cold.
Location perfect, beach only a few minute walk away and loads of lovely restaurants to walk to really close by
We also booked the boat trip round the island that the hotel recommended absolutely fantastic and I have reviewed this separately
Highly recommend this hotel
Unfortunately, since it is the busy season, there is nothing available.
The hotel has sister hotels (Simple Life Cliff Resort) and happens to have 1 family room available. It has only one bathroom and two beds. There is another man in the same situation and their only solution is to have us stay in the same room together. They only can book us one night and then we are in our own to find the other nights and book them. The lady explained that we must contact the reception of the new hotel the next morning to book any remaining nights - if they have room. We also still have to pay the same amount for another hotel in a different location with no breakfast included. This entire process took OVER 2.5 HOURS. The lady was also gossiping to other guests about our situation, while booking those guests extra nights when they requested. She also complained about having to pay the housekeeping staff overtime because they had to stay and clean the room for us and made it seem as though we were a huge inconvenience to her. After trying to explain our frustration that we still had to pay the same amount, stay with a random man, didn’t have breakfast, were in a completely different area, just waited 2.5 hours to get into a room, and don’t have any further place to stay for the duration of our trip, she showed no compassion and gave us no compensation except a 200 baht discount on the room we had to share with the man.
While we waited we kept being informed that it wouldn’t be much longer so we did not go in search of food since they kept informing us that we would get to our room soon. By the time we got to our room and settled in, it was 10:30pm and almost everything was closed and if it wasn’t it was a long walk away. Therefore we went to bed without supper.
Luckily the Simple Life Cliff Resort was able to book us rooms for the duration of our intended stay however the room smells SO bad of sewer that we had to air freshen our room, leave the doors and windows wide open and even move rooms. Nothing helped as both rooms smelt horrific. The beds were also rock solid and the blanket was an extra large towel.
Our experience with Simple Life in general was not good at all and I would not recommend to anyone.
However - I’m sure of you booked a seafront room and didn’t have it cancelled on you it would be lovely.
I stayed in 4 different rooms while I was there and the only issue I had was the doors all needed some work. The locks were difficult which made them hard to close so many guests would slam the doors shut, very annoying.
I have been in Thailand for two months and the Simple Life Cliff View has been one of my favorite places so far. I would highly recommend it.
How can an establishment of this standing achieve this? The establishment is aging and above all very poorly maintained. As a result, the photos no longer correspond at all to the current state of the establishment (see photos in PJ):
- Pool tile broken in many places
- Terrace around the swimming pool also broken in many places and therefore risk of falls
- Yellowed towels, stained sheets and even holes (unheard of elsewhere for me)
- Even a cockroach found in one of the rooms (given the other comments, unfortunately we are not the only ones...)
- ...
And for the rest, the service is not up to par with an establishment calling itself a "resort":
- Dirty towels not replaced (put back)
- No hot water in the sinks
- No lunch or dinner possible on site and rather ridiculous breakfast compared to other resorts made in Thailand (forget the pretty little glasses visible in the photos of the establishment, here it is bare minimum).
- No air conditioning in the breakfast room and ceiling fans out of service.
The only positive point, and that's why I'm giving it 2 stars, is the location which is really great: close to the restaurants and shops of Sairee Beach on one side and the center on the other.
Hoping that my comment will prevent others from being fooled by the beautiful photos and can make the establishment react to the extent of the damage.
We do not hire scooters and found that to be a bit of a problem from this hotel. We tried to get a taxi from reception to John Sewan view point but we’re advised the taxi had gone shopping. When we asked how we could get a regular taxi we were told we would have to go to the pier to get one! One of our party is unable to walk long distances so this wasn’t an option for us. Obviously if you’re happy with a scooter this is not an issue.
The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to restaurants and about 15-20 minutes into the centre of Sairee Beach.
All in all, we did like this hotel and would stay again.
As with many buildings in Thailand, they have tiny little wood eating ants or termites which are harmless to humans, but annoying to those that are not used to such things.
