Haad Tien Beach Club was definitely a good choice and is a recommendable hotel on Koh Tao!
+ location
For us the best about the hotel is its great location! It is situated in pristine Shark bay. Snorkeling is ok, the reef is unfortunately mostly dead, still there are many colorful fish and if you swim out further you are likely to see sharks (I saw two, one was unexpectedly big (approx. 2 meters). Other than the hotel there is not really anything in the bay. However, the hotel offers free shuttle services to Mae Haad (15 mins) on the west coast of Koh Tao and affordable transfer to Sairee beach three times a day (morning, afternoon and evening).
+ facilities
Pools, restaurants and bars are in good condition, the resort pool is also accesible for club guests. Generally I would say that beach club and resort are one and I do not completely understand why they are listed as different hotels and not just as different room categories. Breakfast is also in the same area for, both, club and resort guests.
+ staff
Staff is super friendly, nice and helpful as everywhere in Thailand.
+/- food
Breakfast selection and quality is good. A la carte food for lunch and dinner is also delicious but as in most hotels it is more on the pricey side (Western prices).
- rooms
We had a standard room and paid only 70€ per night including breakfast which is extremely good value for money. I know that the rooms are usually slightly more expensive and for that they are a little bit rundown. Air condition is old, bathroom is small, bed is slightly uncomfortable and our linens were dirty. We also only got one room card and we could not charge our phone or cool down our room when we left. When I asked for a second room card I was told that for electricity I could use any card such as credit card or identification card and that they do not issue a second room card. Besides that I don‘t want to leave my credit card in this slot it does generally not work because slot is smaller than the cards! If I return I will spend a little bit more money and upgrade to a better room if not to a beach villa in the „resort“.

We stayed 7 nights at the beach club in February and overall very much liked the experience we had there.
Negative:
Bathroom was absolutely not the standard you would expect for this prize. Screws in the wall without use, not super clean, the drain did not really work so we always had a little lake. It was not disgusting but that should be much better
Get rid of the plastic bottles! Use glass. You can afford it
Positive:
Breakfast buffet was big and nice
Staff was friendly and helpful
The receptionist Lidia was great. She went above and beyond to fulfill our wishes - very friendly woman.
The beach is great except some plastic here and there. Outside guests are welcome so it can get a little fuller.
The garden and the whole landscape are great. Both pools are very well made. But there should be stairs into the pool for elder people.
The food is more expensive than outside and very good.
Pick up service from the ferry is amazing. They have a little check in house there which makes the arrival so chilled out.
You should rent a scooter to get around as taxis are expensive. There is a free shuttle a few times a day tough.
Overall it is the best resort in Koh Tao and I would recommend it.

The resort still needs to be completely refurbished. The rooms are being done now, however the facilities at the resort really need to be upgraded
This hotel is in a lovely area and the staff and food are good although expensive.
The spa is good but 4 times the price of a spa outside of the hotel the dive school is still closed even though the hotels website says it’s open.
The 16 sun beds around the pool are all damaged and the parasols snap easily which is dangerous.
Visitors to the beach come on to the pool area, the hotel does its best to ask them to leave but they do creep back on to site when staff are not around. No sun loungers on the beach
I would hate to see this hotel when full and breakfast was very busy and the selection not great.
Make sure you do not have a late check out as apart from the restaurant area there is nowhere to sit and wait.
The shuttle bus runs 3 times a day to the town, however it does not bring you back
This could be a great hotel if they looked after the grounds and facilities ( see pics) of grounds and broken beds and parasols

I have stayed at this resort a few times and always enjoyed it. So I have been very disappointed in the experience over the last 48 hours. On arrival we were told the policy was strictly only one key card per room. This is ridiculous as people come and go from the beach and pool. It’s just a ploy to control the cost of Aircon in the room. And not respecting that guests will be environmentally responsible. Yesterday I ordered a club sandwich, an old western hotel favorite. The sandwich came not toasted. I sent it back. The waitress said there would be an additional charge if I wanted it toasted despite the menu saying toasted sandwich. I then reported that the light on the dark stairway was not working. It’s dangerous and has not been fixed. Tonight I tried to turn on the TV. It did not work. I contacted reception and they said the TVs have not worked for a long time. This is just not right for a hotel charging a premium. I would give it a miss until they sort out their management.

We booked this place last minute for only a few days but ended up extending for 6 nights. This place exceeded our expectations. Everything from the location, on Shark Bay, which is mostly for use of hotel guests, the view from our bedrooms, to the service of the friendly and hospitable staff. Special mention to Htay for his excellent service and smile. We could not go wrong. You have a choice of 3 pools, all with beach views. Food is good and the price of cocktails at happy hour is very reasonable. Also everyday they have free activities for guests. We did the hike up to John Suwan viewpoint which was beautiful. The hotel is a little away from the main centre of Sairee Beach but it is just the way we preferred. Private, beautiful and relaxing. Can’t fault this place. :)

We stayed in this hotel for two weeks and everything was amazing. I’m very surprised to read all the negative comments here, the stuff was very friendly and helpful. We had problems we aircon so they did everything to fix and and when it failed they gave us another rooms and cake and fruit platter to show that they were sorry. Those who work in the restaurant and reception speak English very well. Beach is the best on Koh Tao and the customers can also use two pools. Bungalow where we stayed were very nice and clean, simple but we didn’t need anything more. It’s hard not to notice how goes all the people work here to make everything look perfect. You are the best, keep it that way <3

The place is a paradise, ok. But I asked for a Mango shake and they didn’t have mangoes available. I therefore ordered a 142thb Pinapple shake. They put four little bits of pinapple and they wanted to mix it with supermarket juice 😱! I therefore stopped the barman, and he ended up by giving me a juice that felt like water, full of ice... plus be careful because the prices are high, they charge you a 17% tax and service in addition and the quality is the worst in Thailand!

We were staying nearby for a few days and came here for breakfast every morning. Super breakfast with juice and coffee as much as we liked, eggs, fruit or pancake, toast, very good quality and value for money. Super view across the bay. Very friendly too.

Beautiful beach with nice views... but that’s about it. The shower water is brown and does not get hot. The food is mediocre at best and not accommodating to dietary restrictions. But the real deal breaker is the front desk staff. We were lied to on several occasions where the staff either did not follow through or we discovered the hotel had different policies than what we were told. They seem to have their own agenda which is “I’m going to do the least amount of work to avoid getting fired but I could care less about helping the guests.” We will not be returning.

What a lovely welcome!
We were offered tea and cold towels at the private Haad Tien arrival lounge at Mae Haad pier and then taken to the hotel by bus.
Everybody was perfectly friendly, competent and extremely helpful! The staff really went out of their way to make our stay perfect.
We loved the location, the whole beach ("Shark Bay") obviously belongs to the hotel, the breakfast was awesome and the sitting areas beautiful and relaxing.
Great extra service: shuttle bus from the hotel to the pier and back!
Boat trips available directly from the hotel beach, snorkeling very much recommended, at the hotel bay there's a good chance of seeing small sharks and big turtles! :)
Also the hotel spa, "Tien Spa" was wonderful, the treatments exclusive and the team adorable!
Our room was rather small, especially the bathroom was tiny...
next time, we'll go for a private villa, they looked beautiful.
We had a great time, hope to see you again soon, Koh Tao and Haad Tien Beach Club! :)

The blocks are separate, I'm not sure how many blocks there are - there are 2 restaurants between the blocks and the beach, and a beach bar at the other side.
The hotel provided transport for us when we had an early ferry, I think it’s best checking with them at reception.

Wonderful relaxing treatments the therapists were professional friendly and courteous! we I have some broken ribs and requested if it was at all possible to have the massage chair sent to my room as it was so comfortable and I had difficulty lying flat on the bed the night before (please note the bed was comfortable but was just because of my injury) the spa staff were so accomodating and carried it up 3 flights of stairs to help me. I am so grateful to Toon and her wonderful staff in the spa. Thank you! Only in Thailand do you get this kind of compassion and care. Thank you very much, it was very appreciated.
Please note I could not edit the post that I had sent prior to my visit to the spa so have posted it as a question to give some positive reviews for the Spa staff. Thank you.
