Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really beautiful place and the water is crystal clear. This island is absolutley worth a visit.

The low rating I gave it is because of all smoking guests.
The rules on the island is that you can’t bring plastic bottles to the beach (really good rule) but it’s ok to smoke on the beach. Why? A lot of butts in the sand and the water.

And the restaurant have big signs of No Smoking… but they don’t care.
It’s 2024.. come on. if you really have to smoke, walk to the side and Bin your F****ing Butts.

This is our second stay on the island. First time was just over 2 years back. Sadly it has regressed badly in that time. The food quality was okay last time, but really bad this time. Staff just sit around and have no formal skills in service or food preparation. Some are just kids who have absolutely no idea. Bungalows are still okay but in need of some serious maintenance. The big NEGATIVE is the litter. The day visitors are now more than ever before and although they pay an entry fee which one would assume should be used for cleaning the beaches daily the litter is everywhere and having a huge impact on the marine life. Plastic bags, bottles, tins, life vests, shoes to name just some of the crap is everywhere to be seen on the beach and on the reef. I did not see one dustbin on the beach or nearby, so although visitors should also be more responsible they don't have much option either! There is even this dude who collects money to use beach chairs and he misses nobody, believe me, but yet he couldn't care less about picking up the crap at the end of each day. Obviously day visitors is what keeps the place rolling. Sadly in a few more years the place will be another piece of paradise lost if the owners/management don't catch a quick wake up call and clean the place up or reduce day visitors to manageable numbers.
Koh Tao may be a better option overall these days.

Worst hotel we stayed in, in Thailand, we travelled around Thailand for 2 months. The island is absolutely beautiful and the snorkelling was amazing we swam with black tip sharks everyday we was there.
We finished our Thailand adventure on this island celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary which was ruined by the hotel and the very miserable unfriendly and very unhelpful lady at the reception.
We booked and paid for a superior room but when we checked in and got to our room K3 we realised and was told by staff that we had been put into a standard room because they didn’t have a superior available so we was trapped in that disgusting filthy dirty room with ripped and stained bed sheets and dirty thread bear towels (see pics) the bathroom sink leaked all over the floor every time we used the tap. The lady at reception didn’t care and offered no solution all she said was the room K3 had a nice view which it did have a lovely view but the view didn’t make up for the disgusting room we was forced to sleep in and was over charged for.
After 2 days of emails and trying to make the lady understand that they shouldn’t of put us in a dirty standard Room when we had paid much more for a standated room she finally gave us a very small refund which didn’t come close to covering the difference in price.
This is no way to run a hotel, very unprofessional !!!!!!!
The food and drinks are very expensive and the food was only just ok.

We visited Nang Yuang in 1994, and we remember that it was really a paradise.
The 6.2.2022 we came back.
When You arrive they tell You that You can not bring plastic bottles or food with You. No fins and beach shoes are allowed, and no towels on the sand. They want to protect the coral! I said that I would go for free diving and snorkling to the Japanese gardens, where the water is at least 6m deep. No way!
Once You are on the island, You will see diver rookies with the whole equipment on the beach. You will find sunbeds for rent (no towels on the beach...). The main part of the island is covered with constructions like restaurant, storehouse etc. (no plastic bottles, no food …).
ATTENTION on the beach:
It seems that there is nobody, who takes care of the beach:
This means that You can find in the sand everything that the sea delivers:
plastic bottles, every kind of floaters, LIGHT BULBS etc.

I spend 20 minutes in collecting rubbish from the beach, and brought it to the lady, where I paid 200 baht entrance fee asking her if that is what I paid for. She told me that the island is rented out to a private company for 30 years.
I recommend to watch the pictures with attention!!!

Staff so accommodating, very friendly, helped with onward travel and recommended staying on island to get high speed catamaran. The beach villa was amazing, views stunning and we checked in early. Food in restaurant at night was very good and a lovely atmosphere.
The snorkelling some of the best I’ve seen and so good to be able to snorkel from beach. Island so peaceful when tourists went home

For us this place was like heaven...
It is simple, but the surroundings make up for everything....
First we visited the island on a day trip, were happy to find out that you can stay here.
I just sat on the terrace and I've felt the happiest.
Tourists come during the day, but after3-4 pm you have the island for yourself.
Lots of fish and beautiful corrals- bring your snorkel gear!

I fell in love with this place. The hotel is located on an island. This is a unique tiny island with incredibly beautiful and comfortable beaches around. This is the only hotel here. No others.
The houses and villas are located on a slope and quite far from each other, that is, you will not hear or see your neighbors. But neighbors are rarely there. The fact is that due to the uniqueness of the island, cruise boats with tourists come here, some for a couple of hours, and others for the whole day. But in any case, early in the morning and after sunset the island becomes empty. Few people stay here overnight.
I had the simplest house, located quite high on the slope, climb up narrow steps. The house itself is very clean, there is everything you need inside. The views here are incredible.

Very datet resort, very crowded Island between 10-15. Before an after that time there are a lot of divers in de waters around de Island. So not only for the guests of the resort as they promist.
We got a big extra charge for making a extra bed for our Son and at the end of our stay a big bill for foods and beverages. Partly nog our bills, of with extra never ordert food. Breakfast was included at our booking, but was also charged. This was a very expensive trip, it was definately not worth it.

beautiful place, very rude and unfriendly staff, we arrived on the island at 8-30 in the morning, we got there without any problems, but after 100 meters a woman attacked us with a scream, trying to kick us out, because the island opens at 10-00, the boat on which we sailed already left and we could not return, the woman started hysterical and completely lost her face, we calmly tried to explain to her that we physically cannot leave the island, then she began to call someone and tell something extremely emotionally, for our luck her interlocutor was much more adept and allowed us to go for 200 baht per person. Later we watched as the rest of the tourists who arrived before 10 were forced to stand on the pier in the sun, while the staff sat in the shade, doing nothing and laughing at people in the sun. If you decide to visit this place, be prepared for something that you are not welcome here

You are in the tropics - of course there are insects, bugs and lizards! None were overly apparent though and I did not see any reptiles - there are cats on the island so i am sure they look after them!
