We had a great time at this resort, we’ve island hopped and stayed at many resorts and this one will be very memorable as the staff as great. Especially the gentleman in the bar, he was very attentive and always looked after us very much.

The views from the hotel are fantastic, the pool and there is a free shuttle from the hotel into the town at set times too, where there are plenty of great places to eat.

There isn’t a great deal of variety for breakfast, but it is nice. Great value for money staying at this resort and very pleased we chose this resort and the views and the people made it for us.

Lovely resort in Tanote
The rooms are wide and the bed is good for 3 people! The bathrooms are wide too with real rain shower, no bath tub though.
It has a large beautiful pool and a smaller infinity pool and a pool for kids. It has a nice restaurant with mesmerizing ceiling curtain that flows with the wind. The breakfast is basic. The food and drinks in the restaurant are okayish. There is a free shuttle if you want to go to the town center/pier and back. Walk down 5 minutes through the path down the hill and you will reach Tanote Beach with numerous dramatic rocks and boulders. A couple of resorts and restaurants are found here too. I tried to snorkel here but the water is dirty with many plastics and stuff. It needs a massive clean up drive.
Bring a Mosquito lotion because the resort has many stagnant water where the mosquito breeds. They seriously need to change those watery plants and replace them with snake plants. Less maintainance and no need for water. The staff is helpful and kind, always ready to help you.
I went here for their floating breakfast. It was amazing!

Overall our experience at the hotel was very average. The pool and grounds of the property are beautiful with a lovely path to the beach. However our AC unit did not cool down our room making for a very uncomfortable stay. The bathroom is outdated with luke warm water and the restaurant was little to be desired. This property is also out of the way from the main town with expensive taxis in and out and nothing within walkable reach.

Was to stay for 4 nights, out after just 1! Would rather sleep under a tree than stay there again. ROOMS: broken and unlockable balcony door, barely working aircon (the cooling mode only works if on lowest fan mode, the rudest manageress showed us that with the widest eye roll), the curtains broken LOCATION: booked through Booking and it's utterly mismapped so beware if you're looking for a beach holiday. It is NOT 160ft (50 mts) from the beach, it is 1800 ft (550 mts as per Google Maps) over a steep hill. The hotel is clearly aware of this but the manageress couldn't care less telling us she didn't care what was on the Booking's website as their own was showing it fine, ha ha :) There are also 2 swimming pools, which may be appealing to first timers but be ready to leave it with your skin nearly melted of the amount of chlorium applied. Lastly, the hotel manageress is the most impolite, dismissive and attitude ridden receptionist I've ever come across. At check in, be prepared for a list of dos and dont's which straight away makes you feel school like rather than opening you to a cool holiday experience! We weren't surprised then when she refused to refund us for the remaining 3 nights giving a fake smile, we pretty much didn't care ourselves at that point as we wanted to go somewhere with good vibes and positive energy, it just showed again that she was lacking any customer service skills and they did care much more about the money than their travellers experience. Go elsewhere and enjoy the ride, there are plenty of lovely places around with actually LOVELY people in them :) you can find both at Koh Tao but you won't find it at Tanote Villa.

The staff at Tanote Villa was simply perfect, they were efficient and willing to help anytime, from the reception to the restaurant staff. The food at the restaurant was pretty good and the hotel facilities and surroundings amazing. The beach is barely 5 minutes walking and one of the bests in the island. Only negative thing is the location as it is quite far from the city center and taxis are way too expensive in the island. If you ever go to Koh Tao, this is definitely the place to stay! Thank you!😊

We stayed in an Ocean view room and it was a big and very clean space. It was a very reasonable rate for a spacious room, we have been travelling for a while and sometimes you just need that extra space! It had a great view of the pool and the sea in the distance. Best of all was the super helpful and friendly staff that are willing to go out their way to help you!

During our stay at the Island of Koh Tao in July 2022, my partner and me have spent a wonderful time in Tanote Villa Hill.

The resort offers:
A beautiful setting among lush tropical nature.
A quiet and peaceful ambiance.
2 wonderful pools.
Great seaviews.
Large rooms with nice décoration.
Big and comfortable beds.
Kind and helpful employees.

My special thanks are going to the Lady Manager of Tanote Villa Hill.
During my time in Koh Tao I had to face some difficulties.
My problemes have been solved thanks to her wish to help me and du to her capacities in termes of dialog and negotiation.

I keep excellent memories of my stay in Tanote Villa Hill and would love to stay again at this beautiful resort.

We went to Tanote villa with our 3 children. The hotel is absolutely wonderful, it is great for all travellers: couples or families. A spécial thank you to Jido, who helped us organise our stay in Koh Tao, she was excellent, very nice and thoughtful, and extremely efficient, would definitely recommend this hotel! There is connecting rooms which is very nice for a family! And would love to come back again in this beautiful hotel with amazing views and a great bay for Snorkeling (beginners as well) after a 5 minutes walk in the jungle!

Room had no TV and was supposed to have 2 bathrooms but it only had 1. We went up to the reception to explain this and they only told us we can leave no help at all. Room didn't look like anything in the pictures. Absolute disgrace the main girl behind the desk was cheeky the whole time.

My family and I visited Tanote Villa Hill for 4 days in late July. We had a wonderful time and it is a great place to stay; we would recommend it to anyone looking for a very fair price and a nearly 4 star experience.

Look, let's be honest, if you read some other review and find they complain about the service... its obvious they've never been to Thailand before and don't understand the tradition of "sanuk" (google it). Throughout Thailand, food and service orders take twice or three times as long to deliver, and service is generally slower. Well, take it easy Hoss, you're on vacation. Get a snack, a drink, and sink into your seat for a spell!

Tanote Villa Hill actually is BETTER than a lot of other places. TVH may be family operated, or close to it, with employees living nearby. Tao a little island, and it's all family in a way. Really, if you're going to Koh Tao than you already know its so small and undeveloped that you should expect a backpacker vibe. But this place is for the backpacker who wants to feel like a king, or a family on a budget and some smarts. So when you stay a few days you might get to know the staff well enough that they take a liking to you. If not, maybe you are being boorish, and they may respond a little in kind.

Its obvious they are doing their best to provide a good resort vibe; they were even putting in new expensive palms and flowers while we were there, so you can see they are investing in their future. Are they a Western-owned chain hotel with fake everything? No, they are regular Thai entreprenuers, and so I give them credit.

Is it 5 star? No. But its close to 4 star at 3 star prices. The landscaping is wonderful, the pool has a great view, the apartments and villa bungalows are perhaps 10-15 years old and generally very clean. My wife didn't like the stone bathrooms in our apartment, but I liked their design touches, so choose your room based on that if you like. No mosquitos in the resort, which was a plus, but expect some ants if you don't keep food off the floor, and expect your bathroom has a gekko to eat some bugs for you hiding in there somewhere. Also expect spotty power from the local power station, though the Villa has some of their own power available as well for emergencies. My kids loved it, but if you're skittish then go to another island like Samui.

The food from their kitchen was delicious, no problems to report. We loved the laab, and coconut based soups and curries, and they do a fresh fish barbecue for you as well most nights. Breakfast provided was tasty, generally being eggs and some other things made to order.

My kids loved that you got to take a fun little wooden bridge path to the beach, and the Villas give you a beautiful view while being within close access to several other bars and restaurants. Tanote Bay itself is a great destination for family divers... not muddy like Mae, not windy like Shark Island bay, but with sand and great snorkeling, rocks and coral just feet from the beach. In the evenings a nice breeze would wind up the hill, too.

I saw a lot of other villa operations on the island while we were there, and while some are a little newer, and many more expensive, none are a better value and you get almost all you might be looking for while visiting a tropical island at Tanote Villa Hill.

We used the Budda-View/Mandalay Bay facilities they are taking over from Blacktip Diving for diving lessons (good company), and they can also help you book the hotel. The hotel will send a taxi to the pier for you. Expect a slightly bumpy but fun ride to T-bay; less dirt road than I expected, actually. In fact, one of the most fun things you can do is to rent a little scooter sized motorcycle from down the road a bit at the only very small convenience store nearby (or elsewhere on the island), and then go dirtbike riding all over the island. What a blast! You'll love it, though its not for amatuer riders (better know how to navigate a steep dirt decline or incline) and, I think, if you have the right attitude you'll love Tanote Villa Hill as well.
