Sairee Cottage Resort is the perfect complement to Sairee Cottage Diving and I highly recommend it.

I stayed in one of the green bungalows, a triple. The bungalow was so nice. The bed was soft, it has at least one if not two pillow tops, making it as comfy as my mattress at home. Soft pillows that were not old. There are blackout curtains in the room, allowing for great sleep. The refrigerator, hot water kettle, and safe deposit box both functioned as desired. The air conditioner is new and functions perfectly. The bathroom was fully remodeled and has an on-demand water heater, allowing for hot or lukewarm showers as you prefer. There was also a thigh-level spigot to allow freshwater rinses of gear and clothes used in salt water. The room cleaning staff left the place immaculate, which was so nice to come back to after a long day in the water. The front desk staff were very courteous and helpful. The bungalow porch was lovely to hang out on. The only minor feedback is that the window screens don’t fit perfectly so if you want the windows open you will get some bugs. A minor sidenote to an otherwise flawless performance.

The location. Sairee Cottage is right in the thick of it in the bustling heart of Koh Tao tourism. Restaurants, bars, mini-marts, pharmacies, gift shops, laundry, you name it, all within a few minutes' stroll. My bungalow was set away from the Walking Street and the main road, so it was probably the quietest location on my property. Nonetheless, you could hear thumping techno music at night from nearby bars, which goes until midnight. Also because motorbikes are the primary form of transportation here, you could frequently hear them. Sairee Cottage allows motorbike access on the road through the middle of the resort, so it could be a bit loud. Overall despite the rustic charm, this is very much an urban experience. This may be fine if you came to Koh Tao to party or go out. For an introvert who doesn’t drink like myself, it got to be a bit much after a week or so. On the other hand, the location is also an asset – beautiful Sairee Beach is just a few meters away and you can be snorkeling or hopping on the dive boat just minutes from your room. Since most people won’t be making long stays here’s and realistically most people do come to party, I think the location is probably a plus for most people.

You’d be hard pressed to do better for a diving resort on Koh Tao than Sairee Cottage. The staff are outstanding, the facilities top notch, and the location is ideal for most. They exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds and I’m grateful for the time I had there. It has my highest recommendation.

Reception staff insists on either leaving your passport or 2000 baht (almost 70 USD) as a deposit for the room. Both is not an acceptable option. The amount is ridiculous considering how basic the rooms are and absolutely not industry standard. The receptionist claimed other hotels on Koh Tao would charge 4000 baht deposit. This is hard to believe.

This hotel policy ruins the whole check-in experience. Hotel management should reconsider this policy.

They were only willing to provide a receipt for the deposit after I specifically asked for it.

The room is clean but the bed is very small. We booked the room next to the pool.

I had phoned the resort from Nangyuan island and arranged for their complimentary songthaew to pick me up from Mae Haad pier which went well. Reception staff are happy and helpful with good english skills. I was shown to my garden view room which was located in a very quiet area of the resort.
My room was of adequate size. I should note that the TV only had 10 stations of which only one english, that being the BBC. Room cleaning is at the request of the guest. I should also note that if you step outside to your porch and close your door you will need your key and power card. You cannot close the door with it unlocked. If you want your power to continue you have to leave your door open thereby allowing aircon to escape to the outside. I also assumed that when I went out it also turned off the power to the fridge. I'm not sure I have encountered this situation before but it is blatantly impractical.
The resort also has its own travel shop where I was able to book my snorkel day trip and prebook my complimentary return to Mae Haad pier. It also has its own dive shop.
The restaurant is beachfront and I was happy with my meals there my first 2 days. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed for my last 3 days though there are many other beachfront restaurants to choose from as well as other restaurants around the area.
The larger pool has a bar so obviously it is popular with drinkers. The smaller pool was used by guests wanting peace and quiet. Both pools are well maintained.
If you want to visit other locations then it is best you rent a bike because local taxi fares are overpriced eg return fare quoted (no waiting time) from Sairee beach to Freedom beach (4.5kms each way) was 800 baht.
Overall, I was happy with my experience at this resort which is located right in the middle of all the action.

The staff is incredibly helpful, kind, and accommodating. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow and you can't get any better than that beautiful sunset and ocean waves right outside your door. Great for any kind of travelor with two pools, a beachfront restaurant, poolside apartments, beachfront and budget bungalows. In the middle of Sairee Beach which can get loud at night so bring earplugs if you're sensitive to sound.

The hotel itself is very good and the rooms were clean. We had a double fan bungalow but I don’t recommend this because it was way to hot in there. A room with air conditioning would be perfect at this hotel, a bit more pricy but definitely worth it. The hotel is located by the sea and has beautiful sunsets. On the day, the beach is not very nice as it is low tide until like 17 or something. Rent a motorbike and it’s perfect.
The hotel picks you up from the pier when you arrive with the ferry and drives you there when you are going away from the Island too. The deposition at the hotel was 2000 baht, passport or ID-card.
I recommend this hotel if you are visiting Koh Tao and wants to have a hotel by the sea for a little amount of money.

The hotel has a perfect location directly at the beach with two nice pools. The pool area is never overcrowded and always clean.

The location is perfectly placed as you have many activities, restaurants and shops nearby - everything necessary in walking distance.

The staff is always very helpful and accommodating!

We already stayed two times here and would always come back 😊

Okay, we stayed for 9 nights, this is the 5th time in Thailand and second time on Koh Tao, and we loved this place because:

1. The staff were amazing, they helped us with taxi boat for snorkelling (boat nr 35, a very kind guy called Lai), advice on where to go on the island, everything we asked for or problems that we had, they solved it very quick and always with a smile. They cleaned every second day which was enough, if you try to keep the sand off your feet. It is a small tub outside the veranda to wash the sand off. Nice cleaning staff.

2. The premises, pool area, bungalow (we stayed in beach front bungalow OB4). Everything was clean and although noisy in the nights when people went to the bars, it was worth it with the view we had from the bungalow veranda where we watched the sunset and beach/boat people all day long. The room had a nice Air con and a little fridge, the bed was a little hard as everywhere in Thailand. The pool with a ”swim in” bar, also very nice and clean.

3. The restaurant with a barbecue each night to die for, so delicious and very nice breakfast and pizza too. Quick response from the staff, they never seemed to rest.

Very central place to stay for a very cheap price.
The staff were also really friendly and we liked our stay here. We had some issues because of some noise during the night and when we talked to the staff about it, Nung took it very serious and immediately tried to help (the issue was almost solved). Nung also made a good recommendation for renting snorkeling equipment, booking tours etc.

However there are also some drawbacks. Even though the noise issue was improved and it’s possible to sleep, there is still remaining noise (buzzing sound from compressor). Also, the bed and pillow are very hard so the nights are not very comfortable.
Unfortunately after two days of admiring tue cleanliness of the property, we started to have a sewage smell in the bathroom and suddenly also some small cockroaches appeared in the bathroom. It seems that they were attracted by the smell because they weren’t there before. As this is a tropical island and we’re right by the beach with all the restaurants, I don’t think this can be avoided by a small accommodation, therefore I would not give any reduction for this (I would it it were a more expensive place).

One thing that I don’t like is that online it seemed like Sairee Cottage Resort and Sairee Cottage Diving is the same company, however they are not even though they use the same logo and the same property. This was quite misleading for us as we thought we are staying in the dive school, which had stunning reviews and was the reason why we booked this. We could have done better research in that so that’s on us, but it does seem like the accommodation is not clarifying this as they can piggyback on the good reputation of the dive school.

Some things go improve:
- please add more storage in the room where we can hang things + store our clothes
- please provide a large water dispenser instead of daily plastic bottles

All in all, we still think it’s decent value for money.

Both the staff and the facilities at this resort are amazing! My friends and I made a mistake with our booking at another resort, while the entire island was fully booked. The friendly staff of Sairee Cottage decided to help us out and let us sleep a night in their spare 2-person bungalows. The next day we stayed a night in the family (4-person) bungalow. Both were amazing, surrounded by a colorful garden, next to the beach and with two swimming pools. The staff was very helpful in various ways: immediate repair of a broken lamp, help with booking of transport, place to leave luggage & shower on our last day. Definitely recommend!

I had a brilliant stay here. The rooms were big, clean and quiet. The hotel is in a very central spot with a restaurant out front with unbelievable sunsets every night. The two pools are lovely and clean. I did a diving course with the hotel’s dive school which was professionally run. 100% recommend!

Hi do all the rooms have hot showers?
Los Angeles, California78 contributions25 helpful votes
The cheapest bungalows do not have hot showers, or blankets on the beds. If it's super hot out, you don't really need either. But if it's raining, a hot shower and blankets on the beds are worth the few extra dollars a night. Still a great deal.
