The location of this family run resort is gorgeous. We stayed here in 2013 and now again to go diving again with Calypso Diving...just 20meters across the beautiful beach. Too my opinion one of the best diving schools at Koh Tao. All very relaxed atmosphere. Staff is kind, bungalows are beautiful from the outside and all well maintained. All gorgeous...

Having stayed in one or two places on tanote bay and viewing every place close to the shore, Family is our favourite. There's a range of different style villa's from the older, cheaper bamboo huts (tend to be a little higher) to the newer, more expensive bungalow's. Some have air con but boosts the price considerably. Most have hammocks and...

The only reason we stayed at this place was to do diving at the nearby school who suggested the resort. Let's be honest the term resort is used a bit loosely. The first day we arrived we had to wait for someone to attend to the reception , upon check in we were given no useful information and no assistance...

Where do I start?? We got conned into getting two double beds when one double or two singles were enough for two of us. Lying by omission. When we knew for sure that a double bed for half the price had become available we were not allowed to change rooms. Staff are very rude and unhelpful. Everything is a very...

We stayed at Family Tanote Bay Resort for 2 nights. You can only reach the hotel by pick up taxi as the bay is on the eastern coast of Ko Tao. Also, you have no chance to climb the steep streets to the hotel unless you want to do a 2 hour hike. The location is beautiful, but this does...

Excellent location for chilling out away from the crowds. Although the roads to get there involve a massive steep hill , quite a testing walk/scooter ride back to town. Take a look around the bungalows before you sign up so you can choose the best one! Some have incredible views over the bay. The food at the hotel restaurant is...

I read some negative reviews about the service, but it seems like they got it straightened out. People were helpful and friendly and no problems. If you are looking for the white glove treatment go somewhere else, but for the price it was great. Tanote Bay is a fantastic location if you want peace and quiet and a super snorkel...

Dear travellers, Having immediately fled from koh tao's chalok bay right after my arrival I settled down in the tanote bay. I cannot fully agree with the other reviewers who complained about tanote family. My little bungalow up the hill is extremely beautiful (nice wood work and new moskito nets in the windows etc.) And has a superb view. I...

I've been to Thailand from north to south and various islands on 6 different trips, and in about 100 different hotels, and never have I stayed in a place as bad as this one. I'm happy with basic accommodation, but there are limits, and this place crossed the line. Bed was ridden with ants, the toilet still had the last...

My partner and I came to koh tao for the ending to our holiday in Thailand. We have stayed in basic places before and never minded..but this was terrible and expensive. The customer service is the worst I've seen. Rude and very lazy. They said we could only book two nights minimum. The room was dirty, infested with ants. The...

“All the bungalows are different. Theres lots of steps so if you dont want to hike up alot of steps, you can always ask for a room close to the beach. There is bungalows right on the beach. I was halfway up the hill and I had a total knee replacement. When I made it to my sundeck, it was always worth it. I didnt need AC. I had a great fan and the seabreeze blew right through my room. The bungalows are nice. It is Thailand. I recommend reading a short blurb or two on Thai and Burmese people, there customs. There very easy going people. Unfortunately for them that work in the tourist business, they are confronted with disgruntled, complaining, loud people constantly. We all could learn something from there "take it easy" style of life.”

“Make sure to look at the room before you pick it -- we had room 24, which was probably the best on the whole damn island as far as views go. Some of the rooms were blocked by trees, however.”

“All huts seems quiet, yet simple does mean no hot water- we did not miss it in the heat ;)”

“Bungalows at beach are mainly for 4p..smaller ones higher up against the hill. Be very specific when you call them. You could end up in bungalow high on the hill, with many stairs. Prices can hardly be negotiated, You need to pay in advance, so make sure you have enough cash with you since there is nothing nearby. Email is unreliable and not an option to communicate.”
