Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great atmosphere.
We have a beach terrace bungalow. Simple Thai but good.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Great breakfast in the even better restaurant area. Really chilled and well done.
Unfortunately a lot of stairs, no direct beach and the pool is adequate at best.
It's about 15 minutes to the nearest 7 Eleven along the main road. We didn't have a scooter. There are also a few restaurants there (stylish, maybe too stylish, others typically Thai and really great).

location - depends on ur preference. if ur visiting koh phangan to relax & chill, its really-really good hotel. but if ur visiting to koh phangan for the full moon festival, its quite far. (30-40 minutes away). really dangerous road to drive there with the rent motobike after partying at the full moon festival. trust me. dont. seriously. just dont. pay the truck whatever they charge after the party.

room - above average for the price u pay.

cleanliness - OK. u get for the price u pay

view - amazing. crazy. beautiful. but u need to walk for 5 minutes depending on the location of ur room.

restaurant - a bit expensive. but taste better than all restaurant in koh phangan. (most restaurant provide same food menu & all restaurant charge the same price)

service - really good. but this is normal in thailand. they're naturally friendly.

We arrived at the hotel at 8:45 p.m. and couldn't find the reception. All the lights were turned off, there was not a soul to help us. We called the hotel multiple times but no one picked up. After 45 minutes of going up and down a really steep path we finally found the reception, but all the lights were turned off and it was closed. We were desperate and exhausted at this point and decided to go to a restaurant on the beach, near the hotel. They called someone from the hotel who arrived after 10 minutes and instead of greeting us told us "you're late". Angry and exhausted, we replied we came as soon as our flight landed and that we just want to go to our room and rest. The gentleman looked angry and said he did not have to let us in, as we were late.
We did insist that we had a booking with them and we tried to call (plus where would we go, there are no taxis in this area and it was 9:20 pm, no hotels nearby and we obviously did not want to sleep on the beach... ) and so they opened the reception and the first thing we come across was a paper saying the reception hours were until 10 pm. When asked about it the staff replied "it's low season so we close early" - even earlier than what they advertise on booking/on their own reception... and then they complain with their guests...
We also spotted a paper that said they only clean the room every other day- which is not common in hotels and left us very disappointed.
We finally get into the room and as we were so tired we decided to get room service (we had seen earlier on booking that we could) but it turned out that the hotel had no menu/phone in the room. There is no restaurant either, there is breakfast served near the reception from a small "set breakfast menu". So after 12 hours of flights/transfer we did not eat as there was nowhere to, even though they advertise they do have room service.
We were also really disappointed by the room- there was a balcony that on the pictures shows long chairs, a table, lights and a very clean look but we found a dirty balcony with one dirty plastic chair. We requested long chairs in the room but were told there weren't any.
Staff is not particularly friendly, in fact they don't seem happy to help at all and they ignore your presence. The hotel itself is dirty and it doesn't have good conditions.
The bathroom did not have a towel/shampoo holder, there was no hand soap either and barely any toiletries.
The beach is not amazing- a lot of corals, no chairs and the staff look at you with a weird face when you request beach towels (our beach towels were also full of bleach marks). It could be lovely especially because of the café with swings and rocks where you can jump and go swim with fish but it's not well preserved.
You can't really get out of the hotel and go around to see restaurants or anything without a taxi, so it is quite hard to move around the area. We checked out earlier and On our last day when we requested a taxi to go to the pier after the check out the gentleman said "a taxi left five minutes ago and now there are no more taxis", and refused to call one for us.
We seemed to be the only guests of the hotel, which made us feel very insecure, specially because there's no security or even staff at night and because one member of staff who seemed to hate us, was very rude all the time (the one who said he didn't have to let us in, even though we had a reservation and were on time...)
Haad Son was the worst hotel experience in my life and I would not recommend it, not even to my enemies. Do yourself a favor and go look somewhere else.

Good place to visit. The resort has very beautiful reastaurant named koh raham. The room is clean and value for money. For the one who wants to join fullmoon party, they provide taxi car directly from resort to hadrin that is very convenient.

The hotel and bungalows were great and this review has nothing to do with the resort.
The motor bike rental company they use. PCA CAR PHANGAN DISTRIC when you get reception to call for you totally tried to over charge for a couple off minor scratches when we returned the bike.
We were honest and told them but they added other scratches to the bill that you couldn't even see. 4550 Thai Baht was asked and said they have to completely replace the panels for a minor scuff Mark. We paid 3000 Thai Baht to get the passport back.
The rep was also rude and arrogant.
You are best off hiring from a shop at the top off the main road.

Unfortunately I can't find this on TA but it's part of the Haad Son Resort. This is not a review of the Hotel but only the Restaurant. This would be one of the top places to visit on Ko Phangan for sure, it's a lovely place and really well designed and decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful without being rude or annoying. This has some great snorkeling off the end of the restaurant and the staff toss in bread and food to attract the fish. It's a great place to get some snacks, some drinks and a beer or two while occasionally jumping in the water to swim with the fish. They also have an outdoor shower to rinse off so this place is totally made for just hanging out and enjoying the day. Maybe even take some pictures with the parrots there too. The night changes and they have lots of lights and a great feeling. This is not the cheapest place to eat or drink but you are experiencing a great location and well worth the money spent there.

Beware if you are booking this resort through their website. Your reservation might not be respected by the owners. We booked this hotel 3 months in advance and got an email confirmation for the villa we wanted. I decided to follow up 2 weeks prior (thank God!) and got an email back basically ignoring our initial reservation, saying there is now 5 nights minimum stay and the resort is fully booked but they can offer us anther room (how does it even make sense??) I was trying to get more info and understand what happened to our original beach front villa, and after emailing multiple times kept getting the same ignorant response and not much detail. Did I mention there was no apology either..

Can you imagine the stress of finding out you don't have your honeymoon accomodations a week before leaving? Especially in the peak season.. We didn't want to compromise on anther room (they didn't even provide any details on it) and were really put off by the terrible service before even arriving there. After going through the search process again we were lucky to find a last minute room at another resort near by. We had to give up on our beach front bungalow dream, but I would rather stay at a reliable place than deal with a rude service.

I was really looking forward to our stay at Haad Son and wish they didn't cause us this stress. Hope the management will improve their booking system and service in the future.
