Baan Khung Tara is a lovely small boutique hotel located right on a bend of the Chao Praya River. You can sit on the terrace and have a coffee or a drink and watch the river life pass by.

It has been lovingly constructed over the past few years by its two young owners. They have searched for old teak all over Thailand, then had the wood re milled and used in the construction of the unique Thai buildings and villas that make up the resort. They have also collected hundreds of antiques that have been used to decorate the property.

The personal touch by the owners is evident at all times as they go beyond the call of duty to keep their guests happy. Breakfast is free and served daily right beside the river and all the food is freshly prepared. The breakfast service is buffet and you will find yourself going back for more especially the exceptionally sweet Thai fruit provided fresh each morning.

Since we live in Bangkok we are planning on going back at least twice a year for a weekend break. Our stay was just wonderful even though is was only one night.

After travelling for over 24 hours from the UK via China we were looking for somewhere to relax and the Baan Khung Thara certainly fulfilled that. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and the rooms were very clean. The restaurant on site only serves breakfast but the owner recommended a nearby restaurant and told us to mention that we were staying at the hotel. As a result we got a 10% discount.
Breakfast was very good and the orange juice was the best we had whilst we were in Thailand. On the second day we were the only people in the hotel so they served us a la carte rather than the usual buffet.
The hotel grounds and public areas are very quirky with many sculptures and vintage items. There are also some fantastic orchids.
There is no bar at the hotel but you can order beers from reception. There are also no English channels on the TV, but that doesn't bother us. Given the price we paid this really is an excellent hotel.

We have booked the hotel and didnt expect anything much.

When we arrived , we love with the greenery setting. We booked the cheapest room and we got the nice one on 2nd floor with lovely canel view. The room 30sqm with high ceiling. They have hair dryer , provide you 4 bottles complimentary. Minibar is very reasonable. ( we almost empty them as we so lazy to go out)

The location is in the middle of the old cities.
Now Ayutthaya has changed , there are many tourist places , nice cafe ,good restuarants and bars, there many activites to do if you are not the temple person.

Ayuttaya has its own charm and the people is so friendly here.

The owner of the resort has pay attention to his customer. He will give you tips where to eat and sight seeing.

So if you are looking for places drive from Bangkok only 45 mins or 1 hour and explore the old city with historical surrounding , give a try to visit Ayuttaya and stay here for 1 or 2 nights , you will love it.

The room is very wide. The hotel owner is polite and friendly. Clean hotel area, breakfast area next to the Chao Phraya River which has a very good view. Traveling from the hotel to various tourist attractions in Ayutthaya is also convenient.

This is my first review posted ever on TripAdvisor since I cannot keep the good impressions for my own. The very warm welcome from the couple owner was so impressive. They are super friendly, kind and so polite. The resort is brand new. The decorations are superb. The single delicated detail was put in the perfect Thai style. Food is so fresh and I can sense the heart of love seeing the vegetables were put nicely on the plate. I never saw the fried eggs with the egg yolks really in the very middle intentionally. Juice is not just the cheap one but you can sense the pulps. I ate a lot with joy. Normal buffet breakfast which is so different from the other places. I went with my young daughter and she loves this place too. Our first stay but not last for sure.

This was a very precious find. We were looking for a quiet and serene place to stay for a weekend in Ayutthaya and we stumbled upon this boutique hotel.
The ower and staffs were excellent in taking a good care of us. The villa we stayed in was beautiful, super clean ,and very charming. The hotel provided bicycles for guests to ride around and visit ancient temples and market nearby. Breakfast was beautifully served by the serene river.
Totally will be back and recommended.
