Quite a different experience from a conventional hotel stay. Seems to have been a military base in the past. Basic but spacious, comfortable room. In a quiet area away from the bustle but not too far from the centre.

Mrs Bhandari's Guesthouse is an old colonial building that has you expecting Judi Dench running during the time of Colonial India. Covered in ivy it once was a wonderful home. Now a bit jaded is nonetheless welcoming a a nice clean place to stay. £28 a room, cheap and good indian/western food and beer. Well located for the sights of...

Spent two days and one night at Mrs Bhandari's and it was more than adequate. It might be a little run down and worn around the edges but a packs a punch in terms of hospitality and calm in the chaos that is Amritsar. Mrs Bhandari is a gem and her staff courteous, helpful and attentive. We had lunch, dinner...

The homestay was a bit dissappointing at first sight: not so beautiful as you see on the photos. The garden and surrounding is a bit run down. Rooms are quite basic, no much special but VERY clean. A great value is the setting: quite peacefull area a few Miles away from busy town. The staff was very flexible and helpfull...

What an oasis of peace, space and hospitality away from the madness of reconstruction/beautification and Holi/Easter holiday crowds in Amritsar. So glad to be able to relax and enjoy ourselves between forays. Wonderful food and great staff ever ready to help

I spent 3 days at this absolute gem of a guesthouse. My room was beautiful, clean and spacious with lots of old world charm. The staff are attentive and incredibly helpful. Combined with the beautiful garden and friendly dogs, this guesthouse is perfect!

There are a lot of nice touches and attention to detail here - you can tell that it's owned by a woman (the daughter of the original Mrs. Bhandari, who passed away at over age 100, according to staff). As other guest mentioned, the hot water bottles placed in bed are welcome in a room with no central heating, only...

We were after local Indian style accommodation, and we certainly received it at this peaceful, safe guest house. It is like a haven in the chaos. Whilst beds were a little too hard for me, the other two in our party had no problem. The staff are fantastic. Cannot do enough to help. The food brilliantly home grown and cooked..so...

This guesthouse was my favourite place I stayed in all of India! It is full of history and felt so lovely and safe. The food was great and the rooms were very comfortable. I especially loved the shower and claw foot tub in my room! I would have loved to stay here longer but was travelling around, so I only...
