The lunch was not as good as breakfast but was not that bad too. There was a scarcity of the waiting staff during the lunch time, so the service was really slow. Overall it was a nice experience.
For the price they charge, the quality they offer is below par!
Dont go by their website prices, We took a triple room and ordered 2 veg thalis for lunch and the charge came close to 2700!
And the room is not even close to a triple room! Its basically a double room with an sofa kind of thing for the 3rd person!
This is not the first time we have stayed in this hotel. We regularly visit Kanakadurgamma temple and everytime, its a last moment plan we make! We usually dont deviate from our regular hotels and travel bookings, but I think its time we change!
When we first visited mamata, it used to be clean, affordable, spacious with clean toiles. The rooms are still spacious but poorly maintained. Even the food used to be good but now its just about average! Only thing that made me give even a 3 point rating is the courteous staff.
We were 3 people and we were just staying there for 12 hours, as we had already booked our return train for the evening. So morning 7AM to evening 7PM. So we asked to a double room but we were told it was against hotel rules and given a triple room (atleast that's what they call it!). They gave us complimentary breakfast coupons but only for 2 persons! The breakfast was good and restaurant itself has a good ambience. Lunch, we ordered for a room service and it was not even close to average!
Bathrooms come with rusty taps and non functioning shower head! the buckets and jugs are old and dirty and slimy! Adding to the woes is that you dont have an AC remote in the room!
So it runs in a desired temperature. So either you switch it on or off but you cant change the swing or airflow or temperature! Annoying! And when you go out of the room and come back after some time and switch on, AC doesn't work, you have to call the reception and ask them to switch on the AC! They have AC control! WIERD!
I suggest you see the rooms and bathrooms first, before paying up and taking a room!
The hotel is around 2kms from railway station, bus station and temple; as are most of the hotels in Vijayawada. You get autos easily and I find Vijayawada to be a safe place whether travelling alone or with family. Autos charge you around 40 rupees from railway station to hotel. The fare is same from hotel to temple.
Tip: Most of the Hotels except for a handful of luxury hotels come within a price range of 1000 to 2000 rupees for a standard AC double room. So better enquire before, rather than getting up fooled as most of the hotels charge exorbitantly saying "heavy rush"! Also dont believe when the autowalas say they can take you to better hotels, they usually take to the hotels where they have tie ups (they receive tips from the hotels).
Food is excellent, good food and tasty breakfast, reception is old interiors they need to upgrade a bit ....
