We rented a house down the beach and ate at the Blue Bahia restaurant probably five times during our weeklong stay. The food was terrific, and we loved the indoor/outdoor feel of the restaurant. Nothing like listening to the sea while enjoying fresh seafood and cold beers. The tropical fish plate was delicious. I ordered this twice - the fish...

I travel to Roatan every 2 months. Would never stay anywhere but the Blue Bahia. As I single woman, I have always felt totally safe and relaxed. Kent and his wonderful staff tend to all my needs. Can't wait to get back again. Snorkelling is great and the food is beyond expectations. Some of the best on the island. My...

I was here in May/June 2012 and stayed at Blue Bahia. Kent was incredibly helpful and went out of his way to make us comfortable. We even had to change dates due to unforeseen circumstances and Kent accommodated us without a problem. The rooms were very nice with A/C, tv/dvd, nice kitchen with all necessary utensils, pots etc. The beds...

Excellent food. We had dinner last night and were VERY impressed with the quality of food. 4 meals, all excellent and very tasty! I had beef, my wife had pulled pork, the kids had beef brisket. We were served within 20 minutes of arriving. My only complaint was that I ordered rice and it came with corn (which I am...

We didn't stay in the lodge but we ate at the Blue Bahia restaurant on the beach. Loved the ambience on the beach and enjoyed a rain shower over the water. We had great dinners: coconut shrimp, red snapper, and other great seafood dishes. Five excellent dinners, many beers, terrific setting and great service all for $100, and they take...

There is a reason Blue Bahia gets good reviews. We had looked at 3 other VRBO rentals on Sandy Bay, as we prefer staying in a home to have the privacy. What we quickly found via trip advisor and other sources, was that this island was not one that you would or should do that on for your first trip....

Thank you Kent! Have been looking for a new home on Roatan for 3 years now and finally found it. Blue Bahia Resort has it all. My wife and I stayed in "The Wave" for the last week of May and could not have been happier. From initial contact to our goodbyes. Kent was helpful but totally unobtrusive. Just a...

Beautiful sunset view, right on the beach (beware, it's buggy). Top shelf bar and excellent restaurant. Comfortable room, reasonable rates. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the place and friendliness of the staff. Well done.

We were at Blue Bahia in September & December of 2011 for a week each. This trip, 4/28/12 to 5/12/12, was 2 weeks. GREAT food, helpful loving people, just totally laid back. Real family atmosphere. We've already booked a return for October of this year. We've made friends of the staff & stay in touch with them. Lots of Americans...

Come to Roatan to learn about the plight of the island's children. In this paradise only one in four children ever attend school. The owner of Blue Bahia, Kent, is a humanitarian who has dedicated himself to supporting education and the people of Roatan. This is a wonderful resort with a first class restaurant and an amazing staff but I...

Hello, I can help with some information. Yes, we do have sand fleas like most islands. They are not a problem for most of the year. They are not around during the cooler months of November - April. They are only a problem in September and October. If you were going to be on the beach, I would suggest natural bug repellent during the morning and evening hours.

We are located in Sandy Bay area and it is very quiet here. No noisy boat traffic. The cruise ships are on the other side of the island and we get less than 10 cruise shippers per week visiting the restaurant. We do not have music around the pool. And the only kids would be other guests. But we are a small hotel with limited rooms, and rarely have families staying with us.

As for snorkeling, the depth of the water is very shallow until you get to the barrier reef. The reef is about 200 feet off shore and the depth inside does not exceed 15 feet. There are areas of sandy bottoms with bottom fish, eels, and other life. There are extensive grassy areas with lots of baby fish, seahorse, star fish, and other life. We also have rocky areas that are great for night snorkels. I have heard reports of octopus, eels, squid and many other critters. You will enter and exit by the ladders at the end of the dock. That is also the best place to spend time away from the beach fleas.

The scuba diving is incredible. The reef is very healthy. Most of the dive sites we visit are less than 10 minute boat ride away. And they are very diverse from shallower areas to deep water, wrecks and canyons all easy to explore. Feel free to contact us if you have more questions. Trust me, I hate sand fleas also and this island has a relatively mild issue with them. I have been places much worse.

Hello, it is 2 miles to West End. It is possible to walk but there are no sidewalks and the road is not easy to walk along. I recommend to most people to just use a taxi. They are relatively inexpensive and very easy to call. We can also help arrange for a rental car for about $50 a day. I do not recommend scooters. They are very dangerous on the island.

Feel free to email me with any other questions.

Hi, sorry this was lost in an rarely seen mailbox. We do offer day passes for $5 per person. This includes use of the pool or beach. We can also offer use of towels. There is a discount on snorkel gear from the dive shop.

Hi, I have a few taxi drivers we work with at the resort. They can provide convenient and low cost transportation. Cars can be rented on the island, but the roads and other drivers are not the best in the world, so I usually discourage renting cars.
