The Manava Beach Resort & Spa Moorea nestles on the island shore, just by the village of Maharepa is an ideal location, between the majestic Cook’s Bay and the Moorea Green Pearl Golf Club. It’s very convenient location just 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the ferry terminal, makes it an ideal base to explore the island. Close from the Resort, the Maharepa village offers a selection of boutiques, banks and convenients stores. The style of the resort is a tasteful combination of the traditional and the contemporary with a powerful sense of Polynesia. There are 28 over-water bungalows built over the lagoon on piles, 8 more bungalows on the beach and 28 spread through the beautiful grounds with their own private pludge pools and little gardens. The remaining 18 rooms and 8 duplexes of this 90-unit resort all facing the garden are in a small building. Whichever accommodation you choose, you will have air-conditioned comfort (the bungalows also have ceiling fans), an outside terrace, mini-bar, hairdryer, safe, flat-screen television and WiFi. From your hotel base we will be happy to arrange a full range of exciting excursions and activities and of course you can relax at the resort where you’ll enjoy one of the largest infinity pools of the island. Each bungalow has a sunny outside terrace with comfortable loungers. From the over-water ones, there is direct access to the lagoon. The premium over-water bungalows are especially well situated, close to the coral reef ledge so you can immediately swim off and discover a fascinating world of coloured fish and exotic corals. Near the over-water bungalows, we have developed our own coral nursery- To’A Nui - a coral regeneration project and part of our commitment to protecting the fragile environment that surrounds us. This site encourages the proliferation of marine life whose beauty is so easily enjoyed with simple snorkelling equipment. You will find a luxurious and convivial resort on a human scale, offering a warm welcome to honeymooners, romantic couples, families, nature lovers and scuba-divers. We have two restaurants - The Mahanai for breakfast and dinner and the Autera’a snack and bar with a teracce adjacent to the pool for sipping your favorite beverage. Other facilities include two meeting rooms, a boutique and a full range of activities and excursions both on land and on the water. We also have an on-site dive center and a spa. The Manea Spa specializes in massages and treatments using traditional Polynesian methods and 100% natural products from the island’s flowers and plants, including the famous monoi oils from the coconut palm. The spa has a hammam, jacuzzi and the "Rumi Avai" where you can discover the pleasures of our unique aquatic massages.

At Manava Beach Resort & Spa Moorea, guests are charmed by its idyllic location, close to a quaint town and surrounded by picturesque scenery. The resort's Polynesian atmosphere and cultural performances are a hit, along with a variety of amenities, including water sports and cultural activities.
However, feelings are mixed about the value; some visitors have mentioned unexpected charges and questioned the premium pricing. While the rooms and property generally receive praise for their cleanliness, there have been occasional service issues ranging from slow response times to maintenance oversights.

Detailed Reviews
My family of 4 spent 4 nights in a family garden duplex and 2 nights in 2 over water bungalows. We loved every moment at the Manava. The rooms were clean and well appointed with helpful items. Check in was smooth and since we arrived at 8AM we were offered use of the complimentary shower rooms which are located near the lobby and the held our luggage for us until our room was ready. We were impressed by the number of staff that spoke english, this was very helpful to us as we expected most would speak french & polynesian. We were sure to be patient and kind to those that didn't speak much english, I think this can be a common mistake coming from the US where we tend to expect most everyone to speak english. Anyway, the staff was so kind and accommodating to helping us make dinner reservations, finding a refrigerator to put the palm leaf hat that was made for our daughter, helping my husband reach the Lagoonarium when he left his iphone there, etc etc. Speaking of helpful staff, Benjamin at the pool is wonderful. On my first morning there while waiting for our room I jumped right in the lagoon and within an hour managed to get a large coral scrape on my leg. He took great care of getting me set up with a lime and instructions on what to do. It healed nicely with no infection. The pool is just lovely with such a nice view. We ordered food from the pool quite often and found that it was nice to eat right by the beautiful pool. The breakfast buffet was great, we all were able to find food that we enjoyed. The grounds are well kept and the flowers are beautiful. The dinner shows were fantastic. Also the location is conveniently within walking distance to a grocery, shopping, restaurants, ATM, car rental, etc. We just loved the Manava and hope to visit again some day!

Moorea is just one of the islands in French Polynesia (better known by us as Tahiti) and the Manava Resort on Moorea is a highly recommended place in which to base yourself if you decide to visit Moorea. The resort itself is beautiful - well laid out, well maintained, oceanside, so you can walk down onto the beach or, if you’re prepared to pay the extra, stay in one of the bures built over the ocean with its own ladder to climb down into the crystal clear water and swim/snorkel among the coral and many different species of fish. Or, if you prefer, swim in the lovely, clean, freshwater resort pool. The staff are amazing - always pleasant, polite and helpful, and the service provided is excellent. French is the main language on the island, closely followed by English, so there are no difficulties in communication. You can eat at either of the two restaurants in the resort, or get a free pickup and return shuttle to a number of other restaurants nearby. It’s not cheap to stay anywhere in Tahiti, but neither is it as expensive as I expected and I truly do not regret spending one single French Polynesian franc on this fabulous experience. I would go back in a heartbeat.

This hotel was part of a travel package which included Manava Resort in Pape’ete, Tahiti and this hotel.
Both hotel accommodations were exceptional for the price.
The package came with air fare, full breakfast, transportation from the airport, transportation to the hotel in Moorea and transportation from the hotel in Moorea back to the airport.
Where Manava Beach Resort on Tahiti provided a better room suite (bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom) the Beach Resort & Spa on Moorea had more character and ambiance.
The staff at the Beach Resort & Spa on Moorea were exceptional, made us feel right at home, they were always helpful, answered all our questions and even taught us some local Tahitian words (Manava – Welcome, Laorana - Hello, Mauruuru – Thanks, Houn – Turtles…)
The dinner and Polynesian show the Hotel provided was well worth the price.

This was one of the most expensive and highly rated properties we stayed at in French Polynesia during our 3-week long honeymoon in December-January 2020. It was supposed to be the crown jewel of our trip yet it felt like a huge let down: the staff was cold and not very helpful, the check in process was extremely long and frustrating, the hotel tried to nickel and dime you every single chance they got and so on. One extreme example of this was the mandatory $240/person NYE dinner where you had to buy drinking water.
Also, it felt like the current management was trying to squeeze as much money out of the property as possible without making any investments or improvements. Our beachfront $400+/night bungalow had blue tarp/plastic over the entire roof because the roof was leaking. Guess what happened when the wind picked up (this particular shore got a fair bit of trade winds)? It felt like you were sleeping in a noisy, poorly set up tent. Another example of this, the 98-unit resort had....2 single kayaks for guests to use. Guess how easy it was to get one? You basically had to be the first in line or camp out in front of the water activity desk in order to be the lucky one.
There seems to be many more better choices on Moorea. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Dear Sir or Madam, We are reply once again to your comments that you have already shared with us on your on line Travel Agent web site. We would like to thank you for sharing your comments and giving us the opportunity to clarify the situation you have experienced. We regret that you have found the entire New Year event overpriced. We hope however that you have enjoyed the free flow of seafood and dishes prepared for the occasion as well as the Polynesian show and the DJ, as the price not only included the dinner but the entire evening experience. We are extremely sorry that we had to perform an emergency repair on two of our bungalows roof which got badly damaged during the heavy rains over Christmas just few days prior your arrival. Our usual outside contractor who is the only one in Moorea was unable to replace the entire roof at such a short notice additionally as the hotel was fully book during this period we had to find an emergency solution. The contractor has now been able to confirm his availability and the replacement of the roof shall be carried out mid February. To assist you to understand the reason why such a replacement may take time, we would like to explain that the roof are made of a natural material called “pandanus” and that such material are not rightly available. The “Pandanus” needs to be harvested, dried, prepared before being able to be used as covering material hence the reason that in case of an accident we have no alternative than to place an emergency plastic sheet over the roof. We are sorry if you felt that we were trying to save a few dime but this is the challenge we are facing like any other hotels using natural roof covering. Regarding the kayaks, we actually have 4 double and 2 single kayaks as well as 7 paddle boards which are available on a complimentary basis and up to now we never experience any complaints regarding their availability. We will surely look into it and monitor the situation to see if the need to purchase more kayaks is required in the future. However, we have taken your feedback with utmost seriousness and we will work on improving our product immediately. I thank you for your feedback once again; With best regards,

As in previous reviews we agonized over booking with this hotel or the Sofitel, we decided on this hotel because the Sofitel’s equally priced room was a garden view, whereas at this hotel we had a room on the beach, we were quiet happy with our choice. Similar to our experience in Bora Bora the food is not the best, its mostly overpriced and sub par, we didnt hate the food, but dont get your hopes up, you wont be impressed. The snorkeling directly in front of the resort is not good, but borrow a kayak and paddle out to where the water changes color back to light blue and you’ll find plenty to see (dont tell the hotel staff as they will instruct you to stay near the resort as Im sure this is nice and conservative advice, but no fun either). I think the other resorts probably offer better access to snorkeling and swimming where you dont have to paddle out... but that was it, we also rented a scooter and circled the island, highly recommended! If you book here to get a better room for the same price as the larger competing resorts you’ll be glad you did.

This resort was part of our 3 island package. We loved it all, except the wait staff in the breakfast/dinner restaurant was not too friendly. We knew we had a garden room, but when we got to #201 we were pleasantly surprised that our bungalow had an enclosed backyard with a small private pool. WOW! We could stay here forever. Everything about the bungalow was perfect. The pool for all is quite large with a gorgeous view. The grounds are beautiful. The front desk very helpful. For the buffet, since this is COVID time, we picked up individual silver tongs and a large spoon to use to get our food. No touching by hands for anything. This was a great idea and I wish all places would implement it. We were able to walk to a supermarket for water & snacks and found a terrific restaurant right across the street. We ate breakfast & lunch at the hotel daily and had dinner there the night of the Tahitian show. We were only here 3 nights and loved it. I would definitely come back again.

I stayed at this property in 2009 when it was part of the Pearl chain and again in 2020, this time with a new owner. I stayed in a garden view room which was exactly as I remembered it, but looked like it needed a coat of paint and attention to detail after over a decade of use, particularly the bathroom where the walls were flecked with stains. The pool is apparently the largest on the island and had a great acquagym class twice a week, which I joined. I had breakfast at the hotel my first day, but it was a sorry excuse of a buffet with very little variety and poor quality, an utter waste of money. I ate dinner in the hotel on two nights. The food was mediocre and the service was inattentive. The servers were more interested in chatting among themselves than attending to diners. I specifically told my server that if the fruit salad was the same as the one served as breakfast, I didn’t want it as the pieces of fruit in the salad were as microscopic as those in yogurts for toddlers. Well, that’s exactly what she brought me, despite my protests. Not wanting to create a scene, I didn’t send it back. but that was my last meal there. Take your money elsewhere. There is virtually no beach to speak of and the view of the horizon is completely blocked by the hotel’s overwater bungalows. I am staying at the Sofitel right now. It’s only a little more expensive and the rooms, the views and the service are far better than those at the Manava.

Dear BrightCollegeYears, Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your second stay at the Resort. We are sorry that your stay this time did not entirely meet your expectations and we would like to sincerely apologise for this inconveniences. The Manava Moorea was managed under the Pearl Name by South Pacific Management when you first stayed in 2009, and now South Pacific Management has become our owner hence ensuring a very smooth transition. Regarding the room conditions, we were supposed to start a full renovation plan this year but the prevailing crisis as put all the project work to a stand-still. We hope that soon we will be able to resume this plan and ensure that a new and fresher looks is given to our accommodation and public areas. We very much understand your unhappiness about the lack of attention and consideration received at the restaurant and the fact that your request regarding the fruit salad did not receive the necessary attention and was not handled adequately. Clearly valuable feedback received from your guests, like yours help us to identify loopholes in our service and enable us to devise measures to correct them. Again, please accept my most sincere apologies for this incident. Regarding the beach and the overwater bungalow location those facilities have not changed since your last visit in 2009 and we are sorry that this time it was an inconvenience. We hope we will have the opportunity to welcoming again once our renovations are completed. Mauruuru and best regards,

So happy we were able to get a last minute Beach Bungalow at this quaint French Polynesian Resort that is in the perfect location on Moorea Island. We are so glad we shortened our stay at Tahiti as it was pretty much a pool side vacation, spending a bit more was well worth it‼️ At Manava, we snorkel from our room, saw a sea turtle and pretty much every other fish in the ocean, went kayaking with Resort equipment and had perfect views of the sunrise and sunset. We even saw a shark fin in the water in front of our Bungalow waiting for the sunrise this morning, incredible! The infinity pool is great and the beach on either side is wonderful. It is quiet and you feel like you have the resort all to yourself! The Ke’iki restaurant down the street has the best food and dessert! Resort cocktails great, breakfast and dinner buffets OK, not everything can be superb. But this has been the highlight of our 35 day Oceania Down-Under Tour of Fiji, Australia, New Zealand (Queenstown was a highlight as well!) and Tahiti. Car rentals available at resort or across the street, we used Alberts, it took a little over an hour and a half to drive the island and we saw so many beautiful spots that we did half the drive again after stopping at the public beach and having lunch and snorkeling. Recommended tip, when you land in Tahiti go to the grocery store mall next to the Hilton and stock up on French Wine, Cheese, Pate, Meats, Baguettes, Ceackers and Fruit, then get on the ferry to Moorea and enjoy your drinks and treats on your Bungalow deck or sandwiches for lunch at the Beach! 😉 Marquesa greeted us with lemonade and provided a tour of the property and Benjamin and John were great with providing beautiful tangerine colored towels, snorkel gear, and non-motorized beach equipment. The room cleaning staff was amazing, they made our room looks so beautiful with turn down service as well☺️Excursion tour coordination available on-site as well as modernized paddle boards and floating bikes! Everything you need is here!

First I would like to say my family had a wonderful time in Moorea and the Manava didn’t ruin it. All the quirks made us laugh, mostly. We traveled with our adult son and daughter and had connecting garden pool rooms which were nice. But they put flowers on your bed and around the room which is pretty but little bugs get all over. The shower in these rooms don’t have a door to them and they are very outdated. We were obligated to have Christmas Eve dinner there and it was truly awful. I don’t think I ate much because it all looked awful. My son ate some oysters and immediately thought, “that tasted a little off”. The service was hit or miss. The Polynesian show was funny because at first it was like a school play but then they hit their stride and it was really great. The breakfast was also sort of bland. They had a woman making omelets but again, not that appetizing and I can’t put my finger on why. There was fresh fruit and cheese which were nice plus croissants! The pool area was relaxing and we never had to fight for a chair. We also didn’t have any problems using the paddle boards and Kyaks. I think it was Benjamin who manage all of it very well. At night after we would come back for dinner we would have a nightcap at the bar and be the only ones there so the place is pretty sleepy. Not a big deal. The AC in the room was excellent! I did notice a smell of urine in one part of the room towards the end but we weren’t there enough to complain about it. The rooms were clean pretty promptly each morning but they didn’t always replace coffee cups and wine glasses. We did go to the supermarket and stock up on waters and more coffee (they give you instant coffee and a tea kettle) so we could enjoy more than one cup. There was also no room service so if you wanted something, you had to go to the bar and bring it back. Also, my daughter and I had a massage and my masseuse kept leaving me to blow her nose or sneeze which was a little disconcerting. Still, the massage was good. All in all an enjoyable vacation, but I wouldn’t return to the Manava Resort again. I would try another or do an Air BNB.

My husband and I spent three magical days at the Manava Beach Resort before our Windstar Dreams of Tahiti cruise. Our beautiful over-water bungalow, #418, was spacious, the coral reef setting was mesmerizing, and the lanai view was breathtaking. The snorkeling around the coral reef in the lagoon was spectacular and the water was so clear the coral reef and fish could be seen from the overwater walkways. The resort staff was very attentive and extremely helpful. The Manava Beach Resort is the ultimate Polynesian paradise and we honestly did not want to leave.

We were there in August and had no problem booking last minute activities. The desk at the hotel is very helpful and we actually booked a jet ski tour at the rental company directly across the street from Manava!
There is not a fitness center onsite.
Oh my god the snorkeling by Manava is amazing! We had an OWB near the middle of the resort/water line. We could see black tip sharks swim by every morning! It was like they were on their way to work for the day. Just beneath the bungalows is a shelf that drops to about 35 feet deep then a gradual slope as you get out to sea. The whole area is protected by a barrier reef so the water is always calm. We saw so much amazing sea life right next to our bungalow, and in the beach areas too. We even saw spotted Eagle rays mating right in front of us! There are hundreds of tiny bright blue fish right by the coral there and a moral eel “lived right next to the ladder to our private “dock.” Manava was not cheap, but definitely a trip with memories for a lifetime. I highly recommend this location. Great amenities, great staff, epic sea life. But the food at the resort was over priced and just ok. There is a “permanent” food truck directly next door and across the street that are great and reasonably priced.
