I see this place has picked up a few negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel while I was there. OK, the rooms are fairly modest, but the single room I was given was spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable, as was the sofa alongside it. Also, there was plenty of hot water in the... Refurbished old home with central courtyard and rooms upstairs around the courtyard. Nice and quiet tho we were there when it was low season. Place was clean and hot water for showers was plentiful. $39 for two with all races included. They have us a big room enough for 4 since there were so few people so we could spread... More

We (couple, 41 & 50) stayed at Hotel Montecarlo for two nights in June 2014. We paid $39 for a room with two beds (double & twin), private bathroom, cable television and breakfast. The room was average size, clean and comfortable. The beds were saggy. The sheets and towels were clean but torn and stained. The bathroom was small but... More

I was very happy with the location, but found it otherwise slightly disappointing for the price . the room was comfortable enough (after I saw some - I first rejected those with no outside windows) but during these two nights in Riobamba I was bitten on several spots, the marks are only slowly disappearing now after a week. Not sure... More

Clean and quiet. Worked out fine. Staff were friendly which hasn't been our experience of most of Ecuador. We slept well. Lots of towels. We had a room with windows in the atrium. But it was fine. Nice and quiet. Room on the road could get noisy as traffic starts early.

Some family stayed here, but we ended up leaving. The bathroom was dirty in our room and it appears it was not cleaned after the last guest because the toilet had feces and the trash was not taken out. There was paper trash on the floor, the comforter was stained. We were given a room out back which was absolutely... More

Our stay here was fine - we were lucky and had a room (11) set upstairs back from the lobby - any of the rooms around the lobby must be pretty noisy if the place is busy. Breakfast was very basic but fine too. Otherwise, hot shower, good pressure, clean room - better to rate this place by hostel standards... More

Hotel Montecarlo costs a bit more than hotels offering similar amount of accommodation, at $25/night for a single, but I have no clue what you are paying for. The rooms are tiny and very simple. The only single room with a window for fresh air was located at the back and I was woken each night by the strong smell... More

Thinking the Nariz del Diablo train left from this town, our driver located this hostal for us so we could spend the night and take ride in the morning. Would not have found this place on our own as it blends right in with other businesses on the street. Old style charm on the inside and our room could have... More
