Ask for Christopher at the reception and he will be able to give you good last minute prices for a great itinerary by boat in the Galapagos. The hostel by itself was not noisy, there is also a kitchen at the top. A very good option to me.

I reserved a room for 2 people the night before the Guayaquil marathon. The staff was fantastic with allowing my friend and I to add another person to the room for a lower price at the last minute. The use of the hostal's bus card was very much appreciated as well, all I had to do was recharge it on...

Good location/within walking distance of malecon and Las peñas, close to a supermarket as well . Safe and secure. Very clean too. Nice roof terrace and a kitchen if you need. Ask for a room with aircon.

I stayed here with my daughter for two nights. Guayaquil does seem to be more expensive than anywhere else in Ecuador, so although this hostal is one of the most expensive ones we stayed in, it is also one of the better value ones that you'll find in the guide books. But it was worth it. There were a lot...

We stayed here for one night and were really happy about our choice! The room was clean, the hot water hot (not like at other places) and the owner was friendly. It was our last day and after our day trip we could even go to a free room and take a shower, before we went to the airport!

We needed a place to stay after arriving on the overnight bus. Checked out Madrid and they had a few options. All the rooms were clean, tidy, hot hater and even a small kitchen which was a nice option. Close to the centre as well. Would stay again if we were in Guayaquil.

In total spent 3 nights here. Before Galapagos, after, and our last night in Ecuador. Nice hostel. Nice staff. Reliable WiFi. Cool rooftop terrace with clean kitchen. Yes, Hostal Madrid is no cheapie. However location is good. And Guayaquil is the biggest city in Ecuador. Of course there is street noise! Ho(s)tel always more than clean. With the guy in...

We are travelling around South America as a late twenties/early thirties couple and we stayed in Hostel Suites Madrid in a private room for one night on a stopover from Peru to Cuenca. The hostel was reasonable value for Ecuador ($32) but the location was good, staff friendly, wi-fi decent and rooms comfortable. Couldn't have asked more from a place...

The guy charging us 25 cents per minute to use his phone to call our airline... I questioned him and he claimed that's what anyone would charge us... LOL... Everything else was clean and fine. Their computers barely worked on Internet. Air conditioning was good. Paid 40/night for a double before heading to Galapagos
