We stayed for three nights in June as half board. The ferry was easy to find and it’s just a short, comfortable trip across to the island.
Check in was slow as there was just one staff member at reception and there were at least 15 people waiting to check in however, the staff member was very friendly and informative.
Unfortunately our room was very basic and tired looking. The lounge area was fine and quite comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable however, there were no plug sockets whatsoever in the bedroom. We even tried to unplug the tv to use the socket but it was behind a wardrobe so unreachable. The bathroom and toilet are in seperate rooms. The shower is in the bath which is quite high so some people may struggle to get in and out. We had no view from our balcony.
The room was very clean though and housekeeping always came early.
Breakfast was fine. Dinner was very good! Plenty of choice and great tasting. Alcohol with dinner was reasonably priced. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Service was quick. Try and get a table outside for the views but beware the seagulls!!
We drank in the bar most evenings and again, found the staff to be attentive and extremely friendly.
Plenty of sunbathing areas to be found on the beach. The sea is lovely to swim in but there are sea urchins so wear reef shoes! Plenty of activities on the island and the restaurant on the beach is good although a little pricey.
There is no shop on the island so make sure you pick up any water or snacks from town.
Despite the few niggles with the room, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

I stayed at this hotel with my family and found it to be a unique experience and enjoyable experience. There are no cars or roads on the island, it probably takes around 1 hour to walk the circumference of the island, there is a footpath to help make this easier. The island has it's own beach area which doesn't have any natural shade from the sizzling summer heat, so most people relied on parasols or the trees in the beautiful park area just before the beach. The swimming pool is large and was fun to use, because of the design, we spent a lot of time there. I should add, the view from the island, of the mainland, is fantastic, especially at night when the mainland lights come on. Unfortunately, the island does not have enough lighting of its own for night walks, which was disappointing. I found the hotel staff to be really friendly and helpful, great customer service. One downside is the restaurant, breakfast omelette was delicious, but apart from that, I thought the rest of the food was mediocre, and dinner time became boring by the 3rd night. Be warned that, we paid for half board, but this does not include drinks, which are overpriced. I think it was £4 for a small glass of coke and when there's 4 of you these costs quickly add up. On this point, I should add, Croatia overall, is a very expensive country, from Taxis to tours, because tourism is their main industry and it only lasts a few months. There are boats to pick you up from the mainland and from the island every hour, no charge if you are a hotel guest, and the boat Captains are very friendly as well, the trip takes about 20 mins each way and I found it quite enjoyable. PS the water at the beach is crystal clear and there are loads of fish swimming around close to the pebbles, so remember to take your snorkels.

As you arrive to the hotel on the ferry it is very exciting and attractive looking property. Unfortunately there is an immediate let down when you deal with reception. We arrived on a Saturday and they were inundated dealing with ferry queries and ticket requests from day trippers. The reception staff themselves, whilst pleasant enough, seemed to not be very organised. A separate queue for arriving guests would be a good idea. The rooms were large with lovely balconies and great views, although the decor and facilities were rather basic. However the bathroom was very small. The shower cubicle was tiny and borderline unusable. On one evening the bar was closed for hotel guests, yet the staff were serving drinks to guests at a wedding reception, which made us feel very second class, which is unacceptable given how much we had paid to stay there. The bar also closed very early by normal hotel bar standards, and always before the final ferry had returned from the mainland. The pool area is lovely with fantastic views. However there is no pool bar area where you could get drinks or snacks, instead having to walk back into the hotel in your swimwear to get refreshments.
Despite everything I’ve said above we actually had a lovely trip. Rovinj itself is beautiful. We were comfortable in our rooms and we enjoyed our days around the pool and the island. The potential for this property is enormous. The location is amazing and stunning and travelling to and from via ferry is a unique and wonderful experience. The seclusion of being on your own island is fabulous. But the property and the staff are clearly in need of major investment. Do that and they will have a real gem on their hands.

Excellent hotel located on an island 5 minutes by boat from Rovinj. A pre-check in takes place at the port, near the boarding point (boats leave every hour). The car can be left in a car park about 1 km from the port served by an almost continuous shuttle. The structure and equipment: swimming pool, playground, beach and park practically occupy the entire island. Good standard hotel with beautiful swimming pools and excellent facilities. Attentive and kind staff. The restaurant where we had dinner for two evenings was also excellent, with buffet service and a great variety of dishes. The breakfast was also excellent and plentiful. We had a room with a view of the sea and the city of Rovinj, a very suggestive view especially at sunrise and sunset. In my opinion a good solution for visiting Rovinj and its surroundings with excellent value for money even in comparison to the prices of hotels on the coast. If we want to find a (small) flaw, the room was a bit spartan, but still equipped with all the essentials. Also recommended for the suggestion of staying on an islet. A warning: when boarding in Rovinj: pay attention to the boat because two leave for two different hotels/islands and errors are not uncommon.

I stayed in the hotel with my best friend we wanted a relaxing getaway, and we definitely got it. We had a twin room in the main building on the ground floor spotlessly clean really quiet at night time and had the most beautiful view of the old town. Breakfast was superb had everything that you could want. Every day we spent on the hotel beach, it was spotlessly clean no shortage of sun, loungers, and sun. Umbrellas staff are always available to help. The beauty of being on the island is that you’ve got lots of walks through the woods to get you out the Sun and also shady side of the island. You can go in the water and to get out the Sun. Boat service over to the mainland just made going out in the evening extra special. It’s a fantastic service and the staff on the boat always helps people get on and off. I love this hotel so much. I’ve booked 3 rooms this to come back in September with my mum, my dad, my brother and his partner to celebrate my 50th and my mum’s 80th, so I’d like to say that says it all
well done to all the team Selena Stray

The hotel's fantastic location makes up for a lot. The rooms are a bit shabby, but relatively clean (but you're not allowed to look behind/under the furniture). The staff is very friendly, at least the younger staff. With the older waiters you get the impression that you're more of a burden. The drinks are overpriced. An espresso at breakfast has to be paid for separately and the coffee often runs out. One toaster for all guests isn't really enough either. We had half board, which we regretted, as the food was average at best. Despite booking, we kept going to Rovinji for dinner. The beaches are very beautiful, but they are also accessible to day-trippers and if you're unlucky, you won't get a lounger or umbrella as a hotel guest (almost all of which are in a terrible state and pose a great risk of injury even when opened). The complex itself is very well maintained and the 3 stars are justified. The pools are also very nice, but the water (salt water) is too cold. Unfortunately, it's not good enough for more than that.

This hotel exceeded my expectations for what is classed as a three star hotel the room a bit small was very comfortable nice shower toiletries provided clean towels and a beautiful view even had a fridge. All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was exactly what you expect it to be a very good selection of hot and cold options. We didn’t use the facilities of the swimming pool as more of a beach person but it looks very clean and tidy the beach was spotless
The boat service to and from the island was every hour . very friendly staff anyone with mobility issues were helped on and off the boat however not suitable for wheelchairs

Travelling as young family with two children (8 and 3) we were excited to stay at the hotel and visit the nearby town of Rovinj. The hotel is only accessible by water taxi which is free for guests of the hotel. Our first challenge was to find the relevant pier from which to get the boat as our taxi driver was unsure of the location. The hotel reception in Rovinj is in the building marked as ‘Island Hotel Reception’ at the far end of the Rovinj close to the Grand Park Hotel. On google maps the building is listed as Maistra Hospitality Check-in.
The hotel feels exclusive as you arrive by boat and walk up the steps to the main entrance. Check in was easy and our bags were transported for us from the boat directly to our room. The room itself was nice and clean with separate rooms for us and our children and then a shared bathroom. The bathroom is a little dated and the shower could have done with being a little bigger, but for a few days it was fine. The hotel has a great pool area, with a range of pool sizes including a splash pool for non-swimmers and then a slightly larger kids pool and a deeper adults section. Again the pool was nice, but could do with a little bit of updating and painting, but again a minor point. The views around the island are fantastic and it’s pleasant to walk around the island along the path and take in the views, especially at sunset.
The food at the hotel was nice, with large buffet offering provided at breakfast and dinner (we went for half board) and then drinks are extra. Rovinj is also well stocked with bars and restaurants and the water taxi runs every hour from the hotel and takes only a few minutes to get to the mainland.
Overall we have a lovely stay at the hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful and I would recommend staying here. It would not take much for the hotel to have a more luxurious feel with things like having a pool bar open, having more space and seating for the evening entertainment and updating some of the rooms.

We stayed a few days in this 3-star facility recommended by friends, we booked using the "last-minute" for a trip skipped at the last minute. Courteous, competent and helpful staff. Very good restaurant and certainly excellent value for money. Very quiet island. The view from the rooms and waking up to the sound of the waves is something priceless.

We recently spent a week at the hotel. Getting the boat over to the mainland and back is easy, with reliable timing. And it makes for fabulous views of Rovinj. There's a large range of food at the buffet breakfast, and we found the staff at reception, the lobby bar and housekeeping friendly and polite. The pool looks great but we only used it once as it's unheated and freezing cold. Instead we went in the sea a few times, and there's a great roped off bit by the beach bar for this where it's easy to walk into the water (with water shoes on) and it feels safe. We had a Superior Room. The rooms are where the hotel could really do with spending some money on improvements. We've stayed at some really lovely hotels and were hoping for something a bit more plush than this, for what we paid. The room was pretty basic and old-fashioned. Having said that, it was large and clean with a comfy bed and plenty of storage room. The hotel could also do with a better bar area. The lobby bar isn't a great place to sit, as it's just in the reception foyer. And the beachside bar was only open until 4pm. There are a couple of disused buildings on the island that could be turned into a great bar/restaurant. What we did love was sitting on the sunloungers on the paved rocky areas by the sea. When parts of the island were very windy, there were some lovely sheltered parts to sit and read and listen to the waves and watch the lizards run around and the boats go by. All in all, a very good island and hotel that just needs a bit more investment and TLC to make it great.
