This place was gross. Really gross. My travel agency put me up there saying it was a "3 star hotel with a 4 star feel." Uh, no. Nope. No way. This place was disgusting. The first room we were given was so small that you could barely walk around the bed (it was a sea view upgraded room). It reeked...

This Hotel has the most perfect location and the views from the terrace are amazing. However the rooms at the back of the hotel are dark and gloomy, creating a rather depressing experience. Breakfast was shockingly bad, the worst coffee I have ever tasted, on the second morning I enjoyed a lovely breakfast elsewhere. Unless you can afford one of...

This hotel is right on the front by the promenade. The old town sits right behind, and with great bars and restaurants all around, it is a perfect location. The rooms were ok and they locked our bikes away overnight. It was a bit noisy at night - but that's why you go to Hvar, right ?

Fantastic location, friendly helpful staff, clean, unbelievable buffet. But in desperate need of renovation. Everything is so old, broken and basic. Pool is sad. You are, basically, paying for the location.

If noise (I mean blasting noise) bothers you do not book on the harbor side of the hotel. We were there 3 nights. Two nights there were functions at the hotel with screaming microphones until 1 a.m. The third might it was just street noise. Even with windows shut and ear plugs in there was no way to sleep. One...

My partner and I have stayed here twice and, given that it's only a 3-star hotel, have found it perfectly adequate for our needs. Great location off the main square, clean and comfortable, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast buffet. The standard rooms are pretty basic so you might want to book a 'superior' room if you want a bit more...

Make no mistake that everything you are paying for is the location. The hotel is old and weathered with the room facilities very basic (there was no safe in the room). Location is amazing! Centre courtyard of Hvar but that brings added noise at night time to an already warm (air con didn't go below 22) and small room.

Is been 30 years since I stayed in a 3 stars hotel in Europe...but at least is clean. They have good cofee machine on the breakfast buffet. The swimming pool is sad.... They have AC on the rooms. What is very beautiful is the view from the room balcony. And the breakfast restaurant. Better staying definitely in Amfora or at...

You are staying here for the location, period. It doesn't get better... Now, if you want to be pampered and treated like royalty- look elsewhere Princess. This hotel is old, unexciting inside, and due to it being on the main square - its not quiet at night. The beds are comfortable and they serve a good breakfast on a beautiful...

Just arrived at the hotel and I'm already wanting to leave. The lobby looks nice but then you walk into the room, carpet is dirty with stains, stains on the walls and even on the bedside lamps and bathroom is horrible. Wifi drops out every 5 minutes. Only good thing about this place is the location, would never recommend anyone...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In 1869, Empress Elisabeth of Vienna was so impressed after discovering the city of Hvar, that she encouraged the building of the iconic Palace hotel and contributed to the financing and design. From the beginning the hotel was a great success welcoming guests from all over Europe establishing Hvar as a famous destination as it is today. The hotel has graciously aged charm and character mirroring that of the island. History lovers will also enjoy its central location, which provides romantic views of the ancient piazza and neighbouring buildings such as St. Stephenʼs Cathedral, and glorious sunsets over the bay. Guests can dine at the San Marco Venetian terrace overlooking the yacht harbour immersed in the heart of Hvar's historical architecture. ... more   less
