While the rooms are a comfortable, modern standard for this price, what I really like about this place are the fantastic courtyards full of replica antique Chinese furniture. The rear courtyard with the swing and the circular doorways is very evocative, and off the main courtyard, the scholar's writing room is quite nicely done. It is close to Wuyi Street as well as being easily accessible from the North Gate, if you have luggage that you do not want to drag a long way over old town cobbles. It would be even better if more attention had been paid to the decoration as has been done at the Linden Centre, and it would undoubtedly become a lot more popular if they got some English speaking staff.

This guesthouse has a location that can't be beat for the area and a wonderful ancient courtyard full of plants and Chinese antiques. The fact that you have modern amenities in the rooms along side the ancient decoration makes this a very affordable place to stay. Sit in the courtyard and take Chinese tea in ancient style.

The lane way of this Guesthouse makes this a very quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

Take a shortcut out of the Old Town through the North Gate, by going north on the lane way instead of going south to Wuyi Street and you can quickly reach the YuHe Square with the two Water Wheels, where there is a KFC, Pizza Hut and McDonalds. Going to WuYi Street you can enjoy the snack streets, where the food is prepared right in front of you, eating cafeteria style. I'll definitely be back.
