This is one of the few hotels in huangshan if you want to stay overnight..location is ok and it takes about 2 hours walk from cable car station to the hotel. Hotel is under renovation so couldn’t say too much about the architecture nor the reception area. Room is very basic, still quite acceptable if you look at it as a local 3 star hotel but pricing wasn’t cheap for any hotel stay up in the mountains anyways..buffet dinner was quite ok and it was super crowded..somehow felt that all were rushing to get their share in case the food ran out?

As others have said, totally underwhelmed by this place. We visited as part of our private tour and were told it's a 30-40min walk up a stone road to the hotel. Well it was a 2.5km walk on stone steps that were uneven and very very steep. It's the only way in AND out. Again as others have said it's well past it's use by date. Our room was clean but small and spartan and the bed was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor. It was difficult to find our room as there are so many little hallways going in different directions and as we were on the 6th floor and the lift only went to 5 you had several halls to go down then stairs to 6. we asked our guide what there is to do at night she said sit in your room and really that was ALL there was. We ended up watching women's weight lifting as all channels were in Chinese. A small common room was there but no where you could sit and visit and have a drink in. The food was extremely ordinary by any standards and the dining hall noisy and crowded. Wifi?? Ummm no, everywhere said there was but unless you could read Chinese and connect to their site you couldn't get on. We were in China for 9 days without any connections anywhere we went.

Staff is really unfriendly and unable to help not only foreign people (one might assume for language barriers) but also Chinese guests. The location is very nice though and rooms are decently clean. Restaurant is big and food is ok even if overpriced.

We have travelled extensively across different continents and stayed in hotels at both ends of the spectrum. I can confidently say I have never been so underwhelmed by a hotel or shocked at the lack of care and attention that the hotel management seem to put into the place. The room was dirty. I understand that the hotel is being renovated and closed in the near future for three years but that does not stop a bit of pride being taken whilst it is still operating. People are still paying good money to stay here.....as far as I know it is not being offered at a cut price deal (we stayed as part of a tour package). I wore shoes the whole time in the room because the carpet was so disgusting. There were stains and it was obvious it had been given a cursory vacuum. There were spiders webs in the corners of the room and we counted (and caught and released) three beetles in the bedroom and bathroom. The beds are terrible - you can feel the springs through the mattress so a good nights sleep is hard to come by. There is no air conditioning in the room and it smelt damp (a cabbage smell!). We ended up leaving our door open as it was cooler in the corridor and it dissipated some of the smell! As a western guest the breakfast is a game of Russian roulette- nothing is labelled and there is very little choice for the western palate. We have eaten a variety of Chinese dishes for breakfast but it is always nice to know what you’re eating. We ended up with hard boiled eggs, toast and sweetcorn fritters!! The hotel website says it is a 4 star hotel!! Possibly when it opened it was but it has slipped so far that it is nowhere near that. I am surprised, with all the renovations going on that they are still trading. You can see from one of the photos that the front of the hotel has been knocked down already.....it’s about time the rest of it followed suit!! I would recommend either just doing a day trip up the mountain (it is beautiful) or trying the Xihai hotel (we walked past it and it looked a lot more modern from the outside). The sunrise is stunning from Lion Peak and I think the only way to see it is to stay overnight. I would urge you look elsewhere if you want to stay on Mount Huangshan. If you do want to stay here just lower your expectations.........a lot.

Highly NOT recommend, this place is well past its use by date. The rooms are straight out of 1980, nothing works, they are dirty and they smell of cigarette smoke. The food is very average and definitely not set up in any way shape or form for Western visitors. To top it off on a day that is in the high 30s, no air conditioning. Be warned, stay away.

Location: around 30~40 min hike (carrying overnight backpack) from Yungu cable car accessing the back side of Huangshan. The next morning you can hike to Paiyun hotel then down the Xihai scenic area for around 3~4 hrs, mainly downhill. Then take the Xihai cable car up back to Huangshan top. Rooms: remodeled but still old and damp. No air conditioning, but with heater, hence during summer, would be more pleasant if they provided a fan. Water boiler is not on all day, so aside from peak shower time (18pm~8am) you may only get lukewarm water for shower. Water is not drinkable on tap and has yellowish tint, so BYO. There is a food supply booth near Black Tiger pine, and their prices are good, not overly hiked up as in the hotel. Staff: friendly and very helpful.

You can’t beat the location of this place because of its proximity square in the middle of Huangshan Mountain. What has improved is the food. It is much tastier and has a better section of food since the last time we visited two years ago. I totally recommend this place just for the views and nature.

When you consider that everything used to construct this hotel was carried on the back of porters it is pretty amazing that it is as nice as it is. In all fairness to the hotel my average review is because the hotel is under a massive construction project and only a portion of it was open. The room and bathroom are on the small side. The breakfast was fair. The location is wonderful only steps from the best viewpoints. It is a "rustic" hotel on top of a mountain. Perfect for a one or two night stay.

Beihai Hotel Mount Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) The hotel is really dated, though they are building a new wing which has not yet been completed. We thought we had booked into a new wing but the room didn’t look that new! The walls are very thin, and guests speak in very loud voices. The bed was very comfortable and the shower area basic, but it did come with soap and shampoo and even shaving and tooth brushing kits. The also provide quilted jackets for the cold that looked to be large enough to fit western people. The rooms do not have a mini bar or fridge. We did however, find a small shop across the road selling cold soft drinks, beers and snacks. Yes, people talk in this forum about the prices on the mountain but a 500ml beer was about $4 US – considering your location and the fact these beers had to be carried up the mountain I do not think this is excessive. The dinner was an all Chinese buffet at 140RMB which wasn’t that tasty and many of the hot dishes were cold The breakfast was even harder as we arrived at 8am and found very little food left to eat. The only western option was dry bread that you could toast. There was jam, but not butter. We only stayed at this hotel for its good location and we had no expectations regarding the food so were not disappointed. The walk from the Yungu Cable car was about a 20 minute walk. Be prepared for steps.

staying on top of mountain is must for 2 reason 1. you get to peacefully watch sunrise, sunset and night sky 2. you can avoid tons of tour groups which are up the mountain for day tour. chinese tour operators with megaphone need to be avoided. mountain stay with buffet is perfect for long walks which you can take on well maintained trails.
