We stayed at this lovely place for two nights in early June while visiting the Yellow Mountains. The owner was super helpful on wechat, helping us arrange transport to the hotel after our flight was delayed.
His staff offers meals, great local tea, and beer as well for a small price. You get a discount at the spa in the mountains if you sign up through him as well.
All in all we couldn't have asked for a better experience during our Huangshan visit.

Xigu's facilities are average, but the owner and staff did everything to make me feel welcome and to make my visit to Huangshan Mountain and the area easy and special. They gave me hints on how to best enjoy the visit, booked ongoing travel, drove me to my sightseeing destinations, and picked me up. The hotel serves food and was flexible to serve me what I wanted. They always offered, I never had to ask. I've travelled a lot and Xigu is the first place I've stayed where I felt like a friend the moment I arrived. All that and comfortable accommodations as well!

The best hotel where we stayed in China during 2 weeks because:
1) The staff - Speaks and understands English at good level. Very, very helpful. They explained everything, brought us to transfer station for Huangshan Mountain and organized the private transportation back to Tunxi. Even they brought our luggage to transfer station in order we can save time in the morning to catch the bus in Tunxi. When the internet did not work well in my computer (this was not hotel fault), I got an advise what to do. This is the only hotel where we stayed that really thinks of service in western meaning.
2) The price is very low and quality so good.
3) The location is very, very close to the town. It is walkable, there are stores around where you can buy snacks and souvenirs.
4) There is a small store inside the hotel where you can buy everything what you need.

It's not that the room didn't have a heater, it's that it wasn't up to the task. At all. I actually wore all my clothes to bed. That said, when you consider the price, location, etc. not bad. So... I would not stay here in winter again.
I agree that the owner and his wife are very nice people. They charged me 30 yuan (about 5 USD) for a breakfast that was bigger than I could finish (two eggs, four pieces of bread, 2 sausages, fruit, tea). They do not speak English but were very patient with my poor Chinese. The owner told me that he has a lot of western clients and if they don't speak Chinese, he simply uses a translation app. When I booked through C-Trip, my phone number didn't go through to the owner so we were not able to text or WeChat. The phone number I received for the hotel was wrong by one digit. Here's what I got from the owner in person: 0559-558-8858. (May not need the zero depending on your phone). This communication could be pretty important if you're arriving late at night like I was (I'd like to think that if they were sure I was coming they would have started the heater earlier).
Indeed the owner did drive me to the bus station (his hotel is not at all close to it). He told me, and he drew on the map, that a particulate cable car was running and to go to it. He insisted on buying me the ticket for it and pointing out the line. He told me to hike a particular trail on the mountain (Lion Peak). Great suggestions-- only problem is: they were closed! So I had a surprise hike up the mountain when I had planned to ride the cable car to save time. He told me a different cable car was closed (it was not). In the end, it wasn't a big deal for me and I'm confident that it was an honest mistake (hey, the maps are notoriously confusing-- maybe even for locals?). My point in mentioning it is, you'd do well to double check information as to what's open and what's closed.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel for 1 night. When we arrived the owner and a female staffmember stood outside waiting too greet us. She spoke english and was very helpful during our stay.

Once our booking was confirmed they offered us a meal. The food was great and quite cheap. They helped us plan our trip to the Yellow Mountains : the owner drove us to the local busstop and picked us up when we returned later that evening.

The room itself was clean and tidy. Comfortable bed.

If you are thinking about visiting the Hot Spring Resort(highly recommended) you get a discount for staying at this hotel.

Would definitely stay here if we were too visit Huangshan again.

If you wants to have a rest before climbing up to Huangshan. This is the number one location that you can rely and staying in Tang Kuo area. This is a very clean and quiet resort for world wide visitors. The owner Mr. Zhu (朱先生) is the best guy whom I met so far during our trip for Huangshan. The first day he picked us up right at the Tang Kuo bus stop drop off location where we came from the Tun Xi railway station to Tang Kuo.
The resort room is very clean and quiet. When you staying there you don't need to worry about the meals in which they have a great chef to cook dishes for the customer as per your request. In there you can taste the Huangshan tea served by the owner. Also the day when we return from Huangshan the owner Mr. Zhu (朱先生) picked us up and even though we lost our reserved rental car for Tun Xi due to one of the local hotel's opening invited all local transport agents to celebrate their grand opening. Thus there are no rental transportation available to Tun Xi. Thankfully the owner Mr. Zhu (朱先生) promised to drive us to Tun Xi with his own Merc.car which is about 60-70 Km between TangKuo and Tun Xi plus tolls. We tried to compensating Mr. Zhu (朱先生) with certain amount of money but he refused and just took RMB100 for the fuel re-fill only. Thus he insisted to return the rest of money to us. We were very much appreciated to Mr. Zhu's generousity to us and treated us as a friend. Nevertheless whenever in the future if I re-visit Tang Kuo, Xigu Mountain Resort is my top pick no matter its good room price or the friendship we had built up with the owner Mr. Zhu (朱先生).

We came to Xigu because of the other great reviews and its location. While there, one of our kids got sick (fever) and my husband had a medical issue and we had to leave the day after we arrived. On top of that, on the way from Tunxi Airport, the other teen dropped his iPhone in the Taxi that Xigu arranged. So in a nutshell, we ended up being the (unintentionally) family from hell - just because of all our weird problems.

Annie and the staff were so kind and helpful. They let us bring tea and food to our kids's room for my daughter. They helped find us a driver to Shanghai when there were no other options for getting there quickly. And the dinner they cooked when we had to rush out that evening was one of the best meals we had in all of China - big plates of fresh, family style food - simple, but extremely tasty.

The rooms are budget=type fine with very comfortable beds, good A/C and showers. The black out curtains are a big plus because the rooms are VERY sunny (which is great in the morning when you wake up.) Plus, Annie's recommendation of visiting Chengkhan village was perfect. It's a lovely village, uncrowded, and was a highlight of the trip. Sadly, we did not get to hike Huangshan. Next time. We would stay here again!

Lovely little guest house with very friendly staff. We were collected from somewhere after getting the minibus from Tunxi. A lady from the business near the bus stop just called for us and we were collected very quickly. It was only 12 o'clock and we were checked in right away. Next morning we were taken to the mountain at 8 am.

They also arranged a taxi to take us to the station on our last day. It was only 20 yuan each, same price as the bus.

Some friends and I stayed at the Xigu Mountain Villa for one night before hiking the Yellow Mountains. The location therefore was perfect. We were only a few KM from the bus station that takes you to the base of the hike. Surrounding the hotel there are some restaurants and convenient stores, great for snacks and last minute purchases for the hike.

The staff was beyond helpful. They picked us up from the bus station, took us back in the morning, and helped us (non-chinese speakers) purchase the correct ticket and get on the correct bus. They even notified us when they found an electronic item we had left in the room and brought it to us the following day!

The rooms were clean with AC, fresh sheets, shower, towels, tooth brushes, combs, shower supplies, shower shoes, etc. Breakfast & coffee was available for cheap in the mornings.

Very very hospitable hotel! I would absolutely recommend it!

The hotel location was very good, just a few kilometres from the park entrance. Owners are extremely helpful and were willing to drive us to the park entrance as well as to the doctor's clinic within Tangkou! They also were able to arrange a van to take us out to Hongcun Village.
The hotel itself seemed brand new or newly renovated. Rooms were really nice and offered a nice view of the surrounding valley. Definitely worth the price. And laundry was free! (You had to do it yourself)
The owner's daughter was the only employee who could speak English, but it was good enough to book tours and transportation.

Definitely recommend this place if you are looking to stay somewhere close to Mount Huangshan!

He's not far. If I remember correctly, He takes you up himself and it's roughly a ten min drive up to the foot where you can buy a ticket and take the cable cars or climb.
