Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is slightly outside of town among trees and next to a stream, a very peaceful setting for a Chinese hotel. The room rates are reasonable. The rooms are small but functional. There was heat in the rooms but not in common areas. The on-site restaurant serves good everyday Chinese dishes. They can store your bags while you are exploring Huangshan, a great plus. Also the minibus to the Mountain can drop you off in front of the hotel on the way down. We cannot pick up the minibus on the way up because the tickets must be purchased at the station. 200 yards away the hotel is the new visitor center for Huangshan. It was being built in November 2013. On the minus side: we did find a couple bugs in one of our rooms. And nobody on the staff spoke any English when we were there in November 2013.

This is a great hostel if you don't want to spend a lot of money, the rooms are clean, and you have the essential. Not luxury but clean and peaceful. The front desk guy can help you to hire a taxi driver and take you to Huangshan Mountan, hongcun an many places in HuangShan. Don't forget to bargain the price before hire the taxi service.

Stayed here during the quiet period of Huangshan in FEB 2012 instead of 2014, suddenly have the urge to review this hotel. It was good. The young receptionist lady is able converse in English. We ate at the restaurant and good was delicious. There is a convenient store which sells snacks and useful items for the Huangshan climb. The person in charge allowed us to move into a bigger room without additional charges and made the toilet in the opposite room available for the four of us. Thus, helped us save some time .

Our room was rather spacious and we very much enjoyed the lovely people who served us our freshly cooked meals in the evening. The food they serve is just mind blasting, regarding the fact that they prepare it in a small shed right in front of you - you should definitely take every opportunity to taste it! The transport to the station to the huang shan cablecar is seamless and well organised and we definitely enjoyed our three nights stay at this location! If you don't insist on having a freshly furnished bathroom (shower wetting sink and floor) this definitely is a great location to stay at to explore the beauty of huangshan. If you have the chance to bring along your own mosquito net - take it!

As others have confirmed, Wayne could not be more helpful . I was travelling alone speaking only English and throughout the process even after leaving Huangshan he assisted by phone and text . The lodge is unpretentious and suited e perfectly . The cost was modest and included local breakfast with option to pay extra for America Breakfast . There was a great little restaurant in the grounds serving generous portions of fantastic food very cheaply . The staff were really helpful with the hotel minibus readily available and organised a driver and bus for e to take a private visit to Chekan an ancient village in the area which Wayne had informed me of . This was done promptly and at a modest cost . It is an ideal base to see Mount Huangshan without paying inflated prices to stay on the mountain . .

I had a lovely stay here. After a long day of travelling I arrived relatively late, on a cold night. I was greeted by Wayne and his friendly staff and made to feel welcome right away and even given a free room upgrade. Wayne had kindly kept the kitchen open, expecting hungry guests, and he was right. The dishes he recommended we try were good value, not to mention delicious and hearty (exactly what you need on a cold night). My room was toasty warm for me as soon as dinner was finished and I was ready for a good nights sleep. A standard Chinese breakfast was included each morning. A "western" breakfast is available for a small fee. I stuck with the Chinese breakfast, but the other options looked pretty delicious also! Wayne and his staff were knowledgable about the mountain range and the specific areas not to miss. I ended up extending my stay one extra night. As I was trying to make travel arrangements for the following day, Wayne suggested visiting Hangzhou, which is where he was heading the next morning. He didn't mind me tagging along with him and helping me out with the bus and directions once we arrived in Hangzhou. Overall Huangshan and my stay at Pine Ridge Lodge were highlights of my trip to China. The lodge is modest, but clean and comfortable and situated very close to the mountain in a peaceful location. Don't miss out on this wonderful place!

We had a wonderful time at the Pine Ridge Lodge! The price is alright, the place is clean and cosy and we had a very comfortable stay (very quiet and calm). Furthermore, the staff is super friendly. The Owner speaks perfect english and helped us really a lot to organize our further trip! So many thanks again from Wilhelm & Julia!!

We liked the place very much. Maybe it can use maintenance but I think for the price it was good value. Friendly staff and owner. They can arrange your transport and the owner is helpful with information. We had a double room in the garden, which we liked because it feels like being outdoor. That's nice in China! The restaurant has no heater, so in november it was cold! But the food is nice. Chinese breakfast is included, for Western breakfast you have to pay (and still get the Chinese breakfast also :-) )

The hotel can use some maintanace. One of the towels had a stain and the room could use another scrub. It is all a bit outdated and quite basic. The WC is literally in your shower, so it gets wet evey time you shower. The shower curtain feels like a real curtain, which felt a bit filthy. And the hotel has very thin walls so you can hear everything that happens on the hallway or in a room nearvy. If it wans't for the (very) nice owner I would have given this hotel a lower rating. We booked this hotel for 1 night at the yellow mountains. Upon arrival we decided 1 night would be too short so we asked the owner of the hotel whether we could book another room. However there was no more room available so for the same charge per night at his hotel he would put us the following night in a much better hotel (which was indeed the case). The next morning we had breakfast (chinese breakfast is included in the price, but it isn't really my cup of tea). We ordered the american breakfast which is for an extra charge, but because he felt so bad he couldn;t let us stay another night he gave us the breakfast for free. There is also a shuttle which you can take to whatever you want in the village, just give the driver 10 RMB per drive. Overall it was a very basic hotel which could use some updating. However the owner made up a lot for this. He speaks good English and always tries to help. He also runs a restaurant at the hotel (where the receptionists are the waitresses in the evening) which had very nice food for a very acceptable price and had a nice atmosphere. Just don't forget the anti-musquito spray.
