Our recent stay at Mild Spring Boutique Inn was excellent. We booked two rooms and both rooms are very well designed with very comfy beds and nice amenities. The decor of the reception waiting areas and the rooms were beautiful with traditional Chinese look. Breakfast was good. When we asked to have breakfast earlier before their opening hours because we need to leave for Huangshan early, they accommodated us without hesitation. Good location in the heart of Tunxi Old Town where dining and shopping are easily accessible. Staff is warm, courteous and service is exceptional. Special thanks to Mr Cao, the owner who has been super helpful. We asked him to introduce us an eatery serving local food, he walked us there and the food was delicious. He walked us to the car when we leave. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful one night stay at the hotel. We like this cosy, beautifully styled hotel for the following reasons:- 1. convenient location in the heart of Tunxi’s historic old town and surrounded by shops, eateries etc 2. Well designed in ancient style, with areas for resting and dining. The hotel was renovated in 2020 and thus very new and functional. 3. Rooms is well equipped with basic necessities with sufficient power outlets next to bed and near the TV area. The bed is comfy and luxurious and we had a good night sleep. 4. Breakfast consist of local traditional delicacies and is delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the owner, Mr Cao and his wife. They are so helpful and informative and made us feel so much at home. We were a wee bit concerned about the location as the hotel is in a pedestrian mall and transport could not stop us at the hotel. However we informed Mr Cao of our arrival time and he waited by the street to help us with our luggage. Similarly he booked a taxi for us to the airport and likewise helped us to the taxi. We have always enjoyed discovering small boutique hotels on our travels to the cosy ambiance and hospitality of the owners. We must thank the reviewers on Tripadvisor who had enabled us to discover this gem of a hotel. Will definitely come back again.

Mild Spring is a wonderful bed & breakfast styled hotel located in the heart of one of Huangshan City’s (Tunxi) old historic shopping streets. The building itself has been renovated but clearly still retains its traditional character. This makes it an outstanding choice for anyone looking for an authentic, traditional Huangshan experience. If you are looking to experience traditional Chinese hospitality, then look no further than the owners Mr. Cao and his wife. They are lovely, warm, and incredibly helpful. For foreign visitors, the couple speak basic English (which is not always a given at local B&B’s in Anhui province). While there is a small staff that help with cleaning and housekeeping, the two of them do everything else - receptionist, concierge, porter, and even tea drinking companion. What’s unique is not only the boutique feeling and attention they devote to each guest, but also that they are both natives to Huangshan. And so whether it was authentic food recommendation, or arranging transportation for a day trip to Huangshan, or when to avoid the tourist crowds, they were a great sounding board for how to maximize our visit. And they were spot on with every single one of their tips - what’s a reasonable price for a taxi, or what dishes to try. Given how present they were in the lobby at all hours of the day, we did wonder whether they take turns sleeping! The rooms come equipped with all the necessities - toiletries, a shower, western style toilet, air conditioning, water bottles, and Chinese + US two-prong power outlets. We had to go down to request certain things (like extra toilet paper) but the staff was always friendly. Breakfast is included and is high quality local sourced home style breakfast items. During our stay, we had fried cruellers, fried sticky rice, congee, meat buns, pumpkin and red bean pastries, yogurt, soy milk, and orange juice. The highlight of breakfast were daily visits from their friendly two cats, Chen Chen and Justin, who roam the building. Huangshan itself is about a 45-60 min drive north of Huangshan City and Mild Spring. It’s a similar distance to several of the old traditional towns like Hongcun and Xidi. So it’s worth factoring that into travel times in the morning / evening. Staying closer to the mountain, say in Tangkou, is an option but those felt more touristy and commercialized. Mild Spring is located on a pedestrian only street but the main road is only a few short steps away, and taxis are easy to hail from there. Mild Spring offered us a different experience than a conventional hotel (of which there are a few nearby). We booked two nights and like many great stays, we were sad to check out. We had become accustomed to the warmth of Mr. Cao, his wife, and their two cats!

Really like their decor, although it seemed new, but it is an old building, mixed with many old pieces inserted into the new! Rooms are clean, nice petition separating the area! Very humble couple who operate this place, nicely greeted, traditional breakfast was served! Location is well as well, walking distance to the famous Tunxi Old Street! They installed heater system unlike the real old buildings aren’t installed! Definitely a plus if you travel in winter time!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Staff were friendly, decor was so cosy and homely and felt just so at home here. Beds were plush and comfortable, had no trouble sleeping at all. Breakfast was excellent, mostly oriental dishes and I loved the yogurt drinks provided. Location was also just perfect - smack in the middle of a happening road and right where the night market is. Walking distance to lao jie (old road, about 15 mins walk). I must say it gets a little noisy at night due to the night market, but that was not a problem for us at all. Would return if I'm in the area again!

This is the first time our stay totally exceeded our expectations! When we first came across their pictures, we were quite blown away with it. Not wanting to expect too much, we took our time to arrive. Unknown to us, the owner had emailed to check on us as well as to give us precise instructions to the property. As we were coming down from Huangshan mountains, we did not have very good connection. And I only saw the emails days after. Nonetheless, when we arrived finally, we were so thrilled about our rooms! We had 1 of the best sleep here! The pictures of their breakfast does not do justice to its taste! You absolutely HAVE to drink their soyabean milk which is homegrown! The breads are made with their own home-grown beans ( I forgot what they are made of). In fact, dedicate a good amount of time to enjoy their breakfast which is lovingly prepared by the owner's mother-in-law! We will definitely come back again and spend more time in Tunxi as the people here are warm and their service is even warmer! Take time to chit-chat and enjoy the history!

This hotel is incredible! It's a family-owned boutique hotel where they have a tea parlour and bookstore on the ground floor and rooms above it. It's sort of a bed and breakfast type hotel. The decor is beautiful and the room is stunning - also stocked with very high quality toiletries and amenities. During breakfast, we made a comment about how great the tea was and the staff gifted us with an entire box of Huangshan tea leaves to take home! Only thing to be aware of is that they don't accept foreign (non-Chinese) credit cards, so load up on cash or pre-pay beforehand.
